  • Hi, this video tutorial will show shortcuts on inserting equation from equation editor in Ms Word. It's equivalent to equation editor in LaTeX. Inserting Greek symbols, complicated technical equation or mathematical equation etc in report, scientific papers etc is now quite easier. Thanks to the math autocorrect option in Ms Office.

thank you so much time! I'm writing a project report and previously I used to use the masks that word provides, but it takes forever when there are multiple accented letters in your equation!

You might have to first change some default settings.
File > Options > Proofing > Autocorrect options > Math Autocorrect
Tick the checkbox saying "Use Math Autocorrect rules outside of math regions"

      a\bar a\hat a\breve …does work but why doesn’t a\hvec work? What’s the difference?

maybe you wanna show the full list of accent marks. I happen to need one that is not on the part of the screen you shared.

It does NOT work. If I do it in the equation editor, the \bar comes before or after the letter. Not over it. If I do it without the equation editor, all I get is p\hat, just as you see it on this screen. Typical of so-called 'help' files. They rarely help.
