It's nice to see the Second Doctor getting a lot more love from people, Pat Troughton was such a diverse talent - appearing in The Omen then Only When I Laugh and adapting so well! There's some great stories in his era - Tomb was one of the first stories I saw (the first black and white adventure, anyway) and The War Games remains a long story without a moment wasted: so many brilliant twists and turns, as you say the Time Lords were never as powerful and mysterious as this again. Loving your analysis!
In Power of the Daleks, Patrick Troughton is absolutely on point! Nobody knows who this person is, why he is behaving so strange. Ben even thinks he is an imposter and not the Doctor though he saw the actual regeneration. And all the people underestimate him due to his behaviour. But in reality the Doctor exactly figures out what is going on and is just playing dumb, like Columbo. And his flute is plot device, so him playing on it isn't just random, but well placed in the plot.
I love Peter Sallis and he's great in it, always been one of my favourite actors - yes for Wallace, but mainly for his role in Last of the Summer Wine that he played for 37 years - such a shame that he died a few years back
@@thetalisman7722 R.I.P He was a Legend...Man, I Still watch him as Wallace after I was introduced to him by my Grandmother, and I still haven't grown out of Wallace and Gromit!!!
The Power of the Daleks: Great The Highlanders: OK The Underwater Menace: Terrible The Moonbase: Good The Macra Terror: Good The Faceless Ones: Good The Evil of the Daleks: Great The Tomb of the Cybermen: Absolute Classic! The Abominable Snowmen: Good The Ice Warriors: Good The Enemy of the World: Absolute Classic! The Web of Fear: Great Fury from the Deep: OK The Wheel in Space: OK The Dominators: Bad The Mind Robber: OK The Invasion: Absolute Classic! The Krotons: Bad The Seeds of Death: Good The Space Pirates: Terrible The War Games: Absolute Classic!
yeah I pretty much agree wi' your selection matey. Great video. Nothing quite so good as episode 2 of Abominable Snowmen. It's so magical. I think perhaps we have the best episode of that story to have been saved, I don't think the other episodes of it would be quite so good if they were saved. I quite like the Krotons though, it's a bad story but it's saved by the 3 regulars. The Dr, Jamie and Zoe are wonderful in Krotons. The rest of the story ain't so good.
I watched Tomb of the Cyberman for the first time after I lost my Grandmother (the Closest person I ever lost) and that saw with Victorica was beautiful...I loved Power of the Daleks, it's top 3-5 Post Regeneration for me!!! I saw the Web of Fear in 2021 with my Brother (with the Animation) and I forgive the animation in Episode 3 *I saw it in B/W but more of that soon* because it was only 1 Episode...But I have 10 Words to some up this Episode's biggest problem if this era was in a different era: *But in the time period...it is Great* Me: *Christmas Time 2021* "This Episode Would Suck if it was in Colour!!!"
"The Web of Fear" is to my mind, the quintessential argument against colourising 60s stories (which I am against, for the record). The atmosphere is so incredibly pronounced and the sets are so immersive - the perfect story for a cold winter night

I think Troughton is slowly becoming my new favourite doctor.
My personal favourites are possibly The War Games and The Mind Robber :D Great list!!! :)
Both great stories - The Mind Robber is one of those stories that I could just watch over and over again
@@thetalisman7722 Same here!! :D

I want to see The Ice Warriors because of Peter Sallis, he was one of the voices of my Childhood as Wallace!!!

I quite agree that the Doctor, Jamie and Zoe were wonderful in it [The Krotons] but then again, they are wonderful in everything
