I think having a discussion topics really adds to the Podcast Matt/Zak!
For now.
I never liked Matt in the one take days but now I appreciate the fact that he seems to know more about modern cars than just about anyone on youtube. the guest was super knowledgeable too.
Always happy to see respect put on the cobalt SS. Criminally underrated FWD performance car.
100%
Had an 05 ss sc with everything. Debating between another one or an Abarth 500 as a daily.
Entertaining guest. Nice!
I love when Tony is on! Such a great guest with a ton of knowledge and great inside baseball stories about C&D. Great episode and loving the new discussion topics to keep things interesting!
I think OEMs like screens for cost reasons, switches/buttons/knobs cost money to make and wire in the car.
And it fits with the trend that Tesla set. Perfect situation to reduce cost and complexity all while charging more for the “futuristic” design.
Even if you take cost out of it. The programing of buttons for functions that can work directly from the screens UI is an annoyance for manufactures that use a standard computer OS to run every car now. Before, cars did not have a single OS for the entire car but several independent busses.
The biggest cost savings driver is streamlining production - they can slap the same screen on every car, regardless of what options it has, language it's supposed to be in, etc. Also allows more fixed to be done via OTA updates vs recalls.
OEMs are also hoping to monetize post-sale via adding features and subscriptions OTA in the future.
Ford screens are so laggy and slow to load
Hey this Tony guy is good :)
Love my 2019 M7 ZTK ZR1
Love all these guys!
"Watts to failure" made me choke laughing. Matt's hatred for the Hummer EV is hilarious
Matt, when will we be seeing another 1988 Countach restoration video?
You should have SuperfastMatt on the podcast.
Z/28s are most definitely not in the 30-35 range. Mid to high 40s and into the 50s for the vast majority
Came here to say this. And the ones in the mid 40’s are generally rough ones. Nice ones are listed at 60+. He’s always making up car prices. I remember back when the s550 mustang just came out he used to say that V8 S197’s were like 15k… they’re still not 15k unless you’re looking at one with super high miles
@@boblast5582Unless it's a 3V 05-10...lowest ive seen is 17ish for 90k during the winter.
Was looking at Z/28s back in 2019 and they were in the high 30s/low 40s for low miles and AC.
@@JR10_RR he was talking about the Coyote powered ones.
I’ve seen a few in the low 30’s in 2019… but we’re talking about now
As a piece in a living room for sure Alfa 8C
Tyler Hoover is selling a HHR Panrlel SS. and it’s a manual.
Had no idea Jeff Goldblum was this Versed in Cars!
The cobalt ss was good for sure. Shit box but yeah. To a teenage me I saw the hoonage ability.
1:21:52 Zonda R is the only answer lol
Carbon rims are so sketchy 😮
Both the C7 Z06 and the C7 ZR1 have too much motor for that chassis. C7 Grand Sport is the ideal C7.
In the same podcast "My Porsche Boxter has 560hp" then afterwords "can't imagine wanting a car faster than my base RWD Mach E" ;) just funny
Play nicely! Maybe Matt was meaning in terms of standing-start acceleration - he did say early-doors during the “never buy a press car” conversation that he generally tickles his Boxster off the line to preserve the mechanicals…
To pretend those are the same thing is to be either willfully disingenuous or to be hopelessly ignorant. The point I have made over and over is that there is no point to a fast ELECTRIC vehicle because they feel the same as the slower ELECTRIC vehicles 90% of the time, whereas fast ICE vehicles feel different from their slower counterparts all the time, even at light accelaration and lower speeds.
Hopelessly ignorant? Strong words for what was a guy pointing out was a basic flaw in your argument that a Boxster with 560hp is about right as a cars and coffee weekend car, but a Mach E or in fact any car or SUV with power is disingenuous. Which sort of ignores every Mercedes AMG/Brabus over the last 30 years, every RS6, Bentley or Grand Tourer if you want to only talk from the perspective of a single guy who travels by himself. Your point that a "sports car feels fast all the time" equates driving skill or satisfaction with engagement as being the only measure of pleasure in the automotive arena.
"I hate the Hummer EV, its HORRIBLE for the environment".....also constantly flies to europe to drive cars on track.
The quote that most describes Matt Farah and his elitist attitude toward the world, describing a silly feature in a car..." it is true midwestern trash". Those in the midwest just call people like you ignorant and uninformed but try and refrain from calling anyone trash. Funny how things work. I always try and come listen for pure automotive discussion until Matt brings his bratty, spoiled outlook into something that we all try and have fun with. Maybe dont take yourself so seriously sir. You speak and drive cars for a living. Your not a medical surgeon and should enjoy the levity your job affords you.
While sitting across from a guy wearing a Detroit Tigers hat saying, "but I like it, it's great!" The notion that any EV is good for the environment or humanity, is contradictory and absurd.
🧑🏾💻Im here
Just need YT to stop blocking the show. I watch every episode and still need to search smoking tire podcast to watch it. Do better YT
First
Great show except for “Midwest trash” smh
Elitist bullshit. It is what it is.
It's why I don't read Road and Track
At least once per pod, Matt literally can’t help himself by whining about either Tesla, or a big truck or SUV ruining the roads. Typical atp for him 🤓
Where’s your podcast?
Grow a pair Nancy
Instant eye roll....the faux superiority complex is borderline clinical
can we please stop with all these dumb lists?
nobody forcing you to watch, what a dumb comment
