Reminding me of my high school metal machining shop. Our high school bought a Navy Tender ship from a battleship group at auction that was going to salvage after WWII. They took all the machines off of it and then scrapped the rest of it for steel weight. Several metal lathes, a horizontal mill, two vertical mills and a bunch of other shop tools including arc welders and torches. Oh and a foundry for casting their own parts. We just cast aluminum but it was capable of casting iron as well. It was a heck of a set up for high school kids to use real tools and learn to be apprentice machinists. Local machine shop hired most of the top kids from those classes. I had extra time my senior year so instead of taking classes I did not need, I volunteered two hours a day to the instructor to assist students and clean and maintain the machines. So many hours of scrubbing with MEK and then oiling lathes and mills. Higher than a kite from the MEK fumes. Don't tell Principal Negre though. That was only fifty three years ago. Principal Negre might be in the next life waiting to suspend me. Good memories Mike. You sure have a way of triggering those for me. Oh, and don't tell about the cast aluminum knuckles that might have come out of that shop. Man those were some wild days.
The look on Aaron’s face when you guys were adjusting the the tracks, and he said “it Stop” was priceless, I think the look meant oh s..t!!! 😂 Great variety and we loved it!! 👍🇺🇸
I love how if you don’t have the tool you need, you just make the tool you need. That is what my husband needs to do. I don’t know how many times he has had to buy a special tool for only one use. Great Job!!! Love watching your channel. ❤
It is fascinating to watch the unfolding knowledge of MBTS and the ingenuity of yourself Dirt Perfect. This beautiful old dragline will eventually dig some dirt and fly the flag high.
Had a long busy day yesterday. Tried watching late last night and ending up falling asleep during the video. Just got done with another long day and finally getting to finish the video. Definitely going to bed early tonight. The fabrication ingenuity never ceases to amaze me.
Another unique spanner for your collection.... the "ish" is approved 😂😂😂 Scrap is never scrap, unless it twisted or too small for use, more engineering by MBTS and his apprentice 😂 I had no idea that welding would pull the steel in, will take that as my lesson today 🤓
Wife & I watch U & your helpers on our home tv on Utube all the time we enjoy the way U explained thing and how u fix your own stuff to keeping your cost of down . U seem to have a great time doing what U do .
Hey Mike! I just wanted to take a peak into my crystal ball, say about 7'ish weeks into the future...and *CONGRATULATE YOU ON WINNING THAT AWESOME BELT WITH YOUR AMAZING RUN IN THE HYUNDAI OLYMPICS!!!* Man, my vision of your success is *SO CLEAR!* It's as if I just saw it... *YESTERDAY!* lolol Great Job! You are truly a masterful operator!
Mike, you remind me of a boy whos waiting to meet their hero! Your excitement for the RB22 and all she can do is plain to see and very catching. Better get her fixed up soon and sling some dirt, as Chris is getting a fair bit of practice in now! Every video I find myself thinking is this it? We gonna see that old bucket bite the ground and drag a full load out? Keep it up, yourself and Aron are truly doing this old machine justice with your efforts!
when building and fabricating pieces for equiptment, always great when you have a nice drill press, and Aaron is awesome. His Talent and both Mike and His idea's, always manage to work, as they bounce ideas off one another and then get to work making things happen and then making their ideas work as well.
You both have something else to fall back on when the rain keeps the equipment still. Dp ,mbts fab and welding shop .awesome video on the old iron. Denis from Santa Rosa CA
You Guys never fail to amaze me ! The only difference between you Guys and my dearly departed Husband is that he never cut out the cursing crying and if all else failed he blamed me. Big lol. Keep up the good work!
Love to see you sorting out an old tired piece of equipment. With the slack out of the tracks it looks like it's perked up and ready to go. Those old B&E cranes were built to last and be maintained. Good job men.
You guys….i cannot believe that you just move dirt. Your shop work is amazing. Doing all this technical welding stuff is really blowing my mind. I think that you are in the wrong business. Keep it up. I absolutely love watching you do this stuff.
Mike and Arron in the shop is a guarantee good times and plenty of laugh the banter between these two in shop time is the best never change you two have a great working relationship which is not really common in today's world ,entertaining and educational what a combination with these two, Homemade wrench worked well ,Love the sound of the Jimmy , Mike you need to get yourself a Bridgeport mill
Some nice lathe work, those pins look really good also like how you and Aaron work together working out and resolving a problem. It's coming along nicely, you'll soon be digging out a pond with it. 👍
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. A lot of work to make a few critical parts. Looking forward to seeing them in use. Wishing you and your family the best.
That's some mighty fine wrenching and fabrication there fellers.. it's amazing to see these old machines working and just how even the track adjustment is done with wrenches and brute force.. absolutely cool content. Oh and by the way congratulations on securing the "Beat Dirt Perfect" belt...now the fun part is defending the title....lol Appreciate all you do and share...stay safe out there😎🚜🔧🇺🇸🛠️😇🙏🚛🛻
Back in the days of working, we had a couple of 3 inch wrenches for the hold down bolts on a gearbox. It had a 400 hp motor and a 90 degree output. Big gearbox and when it started up the meal cooker and dryer that was full it would try to screw itself off its mounting plate.
You need to rig up a cattle prod to the starter, aimed at Aarons behind to encourge him to spray the ether. Then you will have a fully automatic start.
I needed a 2½" spanner for use on an old steam locomotive here in the UK. Mild steel wasn't up to it & we ended up cutting it out of a piece of armour plate "rescued" from an old target tank on a certain army range...
As always Mike I love your videos. I like seeing the excitement you have for this machine to be up and running. That was some great fabrication work that you and Aaron put in. It's always nice to see his smiling face giving you hell.. Great video
i love how you used Ranch, i built a Ranch style house... but when i had to work on it i got out my special Wrench !. Maybe 420 came a little to often...lol
Personally I think fabing is fun. My bone yard, like your rack, just means it'll get used at a later date on something else - and save a lot of time in the process! Great video! Thanks; Mike Aaron! Lee
Howdy Mr. Dirt, You 2 never cease to amaze me as to how you get anything done in the shop??? I bet your 'bloopers' would win an academy award!! Glad to see the drag-line coming together! Thumbs up! Stay safe! Jim
OK, Mr. Mike, please clean the lathe ways and oil them and your mill could use a little TLC too. Thanks for your good video content too. Keep on smiling.
being a hoarder we might need that sometime comes in handy. it doesnt have to be perfect, but functional and strong. DP getting anxious to really get dragline out in the dirt
I think Aaron should patent the "ish" line of wrenches! He could make a complete set of large-ish wrenches and become a zillionaire when Snap-off tools buys his patent.
Back in the day when this type of boom was more common there were horrific accidents when taking the pins out. You guys played it safe. You can do anything but I haven't seen you rebuild a hydraulic pump yet.
WOW ! that is the wrench I have to adjust our track on our shovel it is a massive spud wrench great for using a long pipe on from the fifties that set I keep in a army morter shell amo box -- I have to use a hand truck to move it so heavy
Thanks for the update, sure wouldn’t want to work on the drag line in the winter out doors, not fun. Keep going you will have it in tip top shape, looking good.
Hey DP are you envious of Aaron being able to sit on a camp chair under the boom working I comfort I guess behind 5ft tall works LOL Good video and again congrats on the operator competition win really are Dirt Perfect 😊😊😊😊 Kym Adelaide
If those keepers for the adjustment nut on the track had a square 1/2 hole you could use a ratchet and keeper like a crows foot. Plus the keeper would double as the adjustment tool.

Mike, not sure about others, but when the content is interesting, having longer videos is not an issue, its nice to see the whole being completed.

Grease guns on the modern tracks and Aaron’s ‘Guns’ 💪🏻 on the old tracks 😂
That welding table you guys built is really paying off it seems.
You two are fun to watch. Never a dull moment!
Thanks

Progress is made. Getting closer to digging, nice to see.

It is amazing how you both work together and fabricating what you need to get your equipment ready to work. Great video.
It always amazes me the kind of good fabricating you two guys do. Shops videos are always one of the bests.
Old school.....if you don't have it and can't buy it...make it. great job guys
Great video guys, almost shade tree engineering but ya parts look good for sure. Look forward to part 2 on this. Safe travels. Ken.

Making it all come together. It's great to see the old Dragline getting the love it deserves.

I have to say the shop videos with "the man behind the scene" are my favorite...lol.
I love the way that even with all the "clowning" around, you guys still "watch each other's back"!!
Thanks
Did I just watch a Clint and Kevin show here? All 4 of you guys certainly keep me in stiches.
It's nice to see you get non electronic, non fly by wire equipment.
Precision tooling. And it works. Good job guys. Always a hoot to watch you two hangout.
A great Thursday morning.
September 28th.👍🇺🇸
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. A lot of work to make a few critical parts. Looking forward to seeing them in use. Wishing you and your family the best.
Great video Mr Dirt Perfect and MBTS
Thank you and have a great week.
Well another one for the resume, can't wait to see this all connected and working.

Good morning DP and Aaron
Btw nice job on taking your champion belt at the expo Mike! Saved the best operator for last. 😎👏🏻
Back in the days of working, we had a couple of 3 inch wrenches for the hold down bolts on a gearbox. It had a 400 hp motor and a 90 degree output. Big gearbox and when it started up the meal cooker and dryer that was full it would try to screw itself off its mounting plate.
This is why I enjoy your content so much. The variety is great.
Thanks
Got a lot of those flame made wrenches hanging in my Garage!

Thanks for the welding lesson, Aaron.
Personally I think fabing is fun. My bone yard, like your rack, just means it'll get used at a later date on something else - and save a lot of time in the process! Great video! Thanks; Mike Aaron! Lee
Mikeee, a trip to see Clint would have been a great way to go about this matter. He has a new C&C machine that would have been great for this!
Can't wait to see her digging again..
All you need now is the Dirt Perfect paint job and the sticker's maybe one of your fancy exhaust systems 👍💯🎯
Morning dp crew . I hope yall have a blessed !!!
Howdy Mr. Dirt, You 2 never cease to amaze me as to how you get anything done in the shop??? I bet your 'bloopers' would win an academy award!! Glad to see the drag-line coming together! Thumbs up! Stay safe! Jim
😂 LOL I thought these were the B LOOPERS.
Quote of the day from DP….its pretty tight out towards the end but its a little loose all way up in there….been pretty accurate throughout my life too
OK, Mr. Mike, please clean the lathe ways and oil them and your mill could use a little TLC too. Thanks for your good video content too. Keep on smiling.
That’s great DP the drag line getting closer to the dirt great video
Watching the lathe work almost makes me wish for a collaboration with Abom79. I say almost because it is fun to watch DP do his own thing.
Good job guys on making your own old school wrench and getting the old dragline closer to operating
ANOTHER great video! Love love love how you guys improvise and make things to get any job done. Keep em comin!!!
It was wild how much slack came out with just that little bit of adjustment.
being a hoarder we might need that sometime comes in handy. it doesnt have to be perfect, but functional and strong. DP getting anxious to really get dragline out in the dirt
Mike and Aaron great video awesome craftsmanship! Thanks for sharing! Kevin
I think Aaron should patent the "ish" line of wrenches! He could make a complete set of large-ish wrenches and become a zillionaire when Snap-off tools buys his patent.
This comment should be at the top!

Some camera angles made me want to put on my safety glasses to watch this video! Sorry I missed the Expo! Hope everyone had some fun!
Well done gents. Loved the video and Aaron being the stong man... Love the thinking outside of the box.
If those keepers for the adjustment nut on the track had a square 1/2 hole you could use a ratchet and keeper like a crows foot. Plus the keeper would double as the adjustment tool.
Another entertaining and informative video. Love to watch you two.
You got the best channel.on you tube with a twist of comedy you guys are great
