    I ended up watching it all (whoops; it's so late) no horror stories?! Try 3 years of Invisalign and subsequently switching ;) - although, I put that down to my first ortho being crap! What I will say is that my present ortho, who is amazinggggg, does not offer Invisalign as she believes that patients' expectations are often too high and Invisalign often can't sort out more complex issues, despite their advancements. I haven't heard of people ever going from traditional braces to Invisalign... But best of luck - switching to ceramics was the best thing I did - mine are coming off as soon as I return to TH next week 😉

      Same here! I had a complex case and Invisalign failed me, wasted so much money and time. On fixed braces month 8 now! Of course it’s my individual case, best of luck Roberto! Will be watching your progress!

      Firstly Ash… congrats on your braces coming off!! They look amazing and I’m super happy for you!! And you’ll never guess what!! As I was uploading the video I thought of you straight away and I knew you’d comment and I was waiting for it!! When I start the Invisalign process, I’m going to have so many questions for you!! After remembering your Invisalign journey, I suppose the saving grace for me is that (1) it’s going to be no extra cost and (2) if they don’t work, I’ll revert back to braces. Otherwise sure I’d have more reservations!! Exciting nonetheless and I apologise in advance for my avalanche of questions to come!!

    When a new dentist takes over nine times out of 10 they always will prescribe a brand new treatment plan. Usually it means that the patient will have to shell out a lot more money. Especially when giving the option of a different treatment method such as Invisalign. Make sure you get something in writing that your payment amount and timetable will remain the same. Congratulations on getting your braces off to get Invisalign. I just got rubber bands in my mouth too. My biggest problem is in taking the rubber bands off when I eat because I forget they are in my mouth. I look forward to the next several months of your treatment.

    Thanks for the update. I'm excited for you for the invisalign. When I really start researching braces I was looking at invisalign, but with them you have to be extremely disciplined. Now that I have learned about my bite; my deep bite specifically, idk that I would be a good candidate for invisalign. Good luck to you and I forward to the updates! Wow, what a change in plans! Sounds like a care team that considers holistic care and top notch! I'm approaching the 6 month mark, coming up on adjustment number 4 in two weeks. I'll get brackets on my back molars and power bands to close the new gaps that have shown up as they try to get my arch shape perfected.

    • @robertosjournals
      @robertosjournals  2 роки тому

      John!! Remind me is this going to be the first time you get power bands?! If so - just an advance warning of pain management during your first few days!! It’s a totally different experience and you’ll need to choose your foods carefully!! Sorry if you’ve already had power chains and I’ve just taught you to suck eggs 😂 your teeth must be getting along alright now right?!

    • @johntippins
      @johntippins 2 роки тому +1

      @@robertosjournals Yep, this will be my first power bands experience (tomorrow!). I'm nervous about the pain but I've stocked up on yogurt, soups, etc. As far as appearance, I can tell a big difference in the arch shape in just a few months and my orthodontist says my teeth moved faster than he anticipated. So I'm hopeful that I won't have the power bands for long, and then it's just fine tuning.

    • @johntippins

      @@robertosjournals Had my adjustment on Tuesday, today is Friday and it's not too terrible. I'm able to eat soft solids with my molars, but biting down on something like a sandwich is still a bit tender. However that's not the big news.... the big news is that we went in a somewhat new direction for my lower teeth!
      Long story short I'm missing an adult second bicuspid on my lower right side (just never came in when I lost a baby tooth) and originally we were just going to try to even out the spacing as much as we could rather than pull a tooth on the other side for symmetry. But my orthodontist measured and there's actually enough space to get an implant or a bridge to make my smile more symmetrical. So we decided to place a spring to push teeth forward to close a few smaller gaps and make room for a fake tooth later!
      My orthodontist said the spring would exert more pressure than the bands but the movement would happen a lot faster. So I'm in a little more discomfort now, but pain is beauty, I guess!

I must look so funny now when I laugh as I’m so cautious of opening my mouth too much!! Getting used to them now though. Do you keep them on when you eat?! I’ve been told to only remove them when I brush my teeth but they just get in the way so much when eating that I have to take them off. What’s your ortho suggested to you?!

      @@robertosjournals I’ve had them snap in my mouth and ping against my cheeks and lips! I started with posterior box elastics for a month back in May and got told to wear them all the time bar brushing, I managed to snack with them in but for meals I took them out. Then the next month I got changed to an anterior box elastic and that was a ball ache!! It just kept rolling up into my gum and was sooooo annoying! I got told to wear it as much as I could because my Ortho knew full well how annoying it was gonna be and how much more it’s in the way. But I saw it out and wore it all the time bar eating and brushing and after 6 weeks of it I’ve got rid because my front teeth have come together really nicely and been put back on the posterior box elastics. I’m super speedy at putting them in now and don’t even need a mirror lol. I also got told it only looks like I need a couple more appointments!!

      Hey Marilynne!! I am so excited for you!! It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been able to get onto here on UA-cam - have you had your braces put in yet?! My two biggest pieces of advice are (1) pain management - make sure you have some painkillers handy (if you are able to) and some orthodontic wax ready should your braces rub against the inside of your mouth and (2) have a repertoire of soft food meals prepared for when your braces are sensitive that you are unable to chew on harder foods!!
      If you experience anything else, please let me know and I can do my best to help advise you!! Good luck and your teeth are going to be amazing once it’s all done and dusted!!

    I've done a lot of research and spoken to a lot of dentists, and I've heard fixed braces will always be a better choice over invasalign. I know a lot of ppl who have had invasalign done and they've never gotten their 'perfect' smile, just something very close to it. Invasalign takes a lot of discipline, and most ppl tend to extend the treatment time needed than what was initially planned. I hope it works out for you though.
