OMG!!! What a fantastic video to come across. Love your use of everyday terminology as a beginner of tub chairs. Thank you for saving me hours of mistakes, frustration and walking away from all the tub chairs I have saved up to recover.
Hi Neil, thanks for the reply! For me, my comment was not about being kind...! What I appreciate is, that as a novice following your suggestions and instructions, your explanations are in "layman" terms which everyone can understand! You have a way about you...of making me the "viewer" feel confident! Please do not change your trajectory! Viewing you From France! Good Luck and hope your business is booming!
@faceliftinteriors thanks for the lesson. I'm torn...pun intended...lol. I liked the old material and the new material. The new is beautiful. I understand why you have to segment the inside back...but can't I use a full piece for the back? What is the white material on the back that you tightened up? I have yet to watch all of your videos...working on it! Do you have any videos on building frames for furniture please? If not, can you recommend any channels? I enjoy your humour btw. You always do a great job! Do you have any videos on the paperwork side of the business? What computer programs do you use?
Hi Neil.......I've recently come across your Channel.....your information is so good, thank you so much.....wondered if you could do a video on how to reupholster a recliner........thanking you in advance.....
Hi Lynnee! Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave a comment, it’s really appreciated. I don’t do many recliners but if I get one in, I will make sure I make a video for you 😊👍🏻
WOW thank you that was a great demonstration very well and clearly explained you made it seem so easy, How much fabric will be needed for this project??👍👍
Hi Neil, great channel, so easy to understand and so down to earth tutorials. Great teaching!! Have you thought of doing a tutorial on bergere chair/sofa? I have been searching youTube for Ercol or Parker Knoll upholstery but found none. Thanks in advance.
Hi Helen - thank you so much for your kind comment and for watching! Yes I definitely would do a tutorial if I get a piece in to reupholster. I have previously made a video reupholstering a Parker Knoll but it was one of their more simpler style chairs.
So how do I cut new foam for this shape? Mine is a bit different, it has wooden accents for the front of the arm rests that connects to a strip just below the seat section (believe it's from either the 70s or 80s with the color of the terry/velvet it's upholstered with) I really don't want to leave the old stuff on since I have allergies and the dust in it isn't good for me since I can't clean it out. Should I use the old sections to trace directly on the new or onto cardboard or drafting paper to make a template for the new foam? Thank you! Really appreciate this because I've been dying to fix this chair of mine for a year now but felt intimidated by the shape
These tutorials are the best - thanks Neil - I've learnt so much! Currently trying to reupholster a similarly shaped chair, but I'm redoing the inside back foam, as it was full of hay. Is this a job for 1" soft white foam? It's got zigzag springs/hessian under that. And would you cut the foam to match the seams on the fabric, or does it not matter too much? Thanks for any help!
Hi Katie! Thank you so much for watching and for your support, it means a lot! I usually use 1” white when it’s going to have cushions on the the inside back but if it’s an upholstered back, which yours sounds like it is, I’d probably go 2” white but that’s my preference. Yes cut the foam where the seams are going to go if you can’t get away without cutting the foam. Hope this helps 😊👍🏻
Thanks for the awesome videos! I had a question about what kind of fabric that's used over the hessian on the back of this chair, before putting on the exterior fabric? thanks in advance! Keep the great tutorials coming for us DIYers across the pond!
Hi Renee! Sorry for the delay in responding. I’m slightly confused about your question as I didn’t use hessian on this particular chair 🤔 do you mean the lining fabric on the outside back? If so, that fabric was just a lining fabric that was already on the chair but you can use any fabric for this if the chair doesn’t have it already. I tend to use leftover fabric that I won’t be using elsewhere for mine. I hope that’s what you meant - if not let me know 😊 thank you for watching my videos from over the pond - it’s really appreciated!!
Hi! Great job! Tell me, what is the name of the black material that you use to cover the seat? And on the frame under the upper curved plywood slat of the backrest, a narrow curved plywood or wooden slat is lined along the contour for attaching a metal tape with teeth?
@@faceliftinteriors Thanks for the answer! Unfortunately, my English is not very good.))) Therefore, the second part of the question will sound like this: to which base is the Ply Grip attached from behind: from plywood or wood? Is it possible to give any link to the sale on the Internet: "The black fabric is called black platform lining fabric" - I want to find such a fabric. No problem, if my questions again cause difficulties, I still thank you for the answer.
Hi David - thanks for watching! I’ve uploaded a metal gripper tutorial for an outside back some time ago - hopefully you find it helpful 😊👍🏻here’s the link: ua-cam.com/video/2bFbJJ76RRw/v-deo.html
Just found your channel. Great videos. Any online suggestions on where to source fabric and supplies? I'm in the US and am looking for dark red paisley fabric. Tried looking a while back.
Hey!! I’m afraid I don’t have any suppliers in the US. My advice would be to join the ‘upholsterers friendly forum’ on Facebook as there’s upholsterers from all over the world in the group who are always happy to give advice! Hope that helps and thanks for watching 😊👍🏻
@@faceliftinteriors Thank you for the videos. I consider you to be the Julia Childs of upholstery. You make the viewer feel that upholstery is very approachable and we can see that you have fun doing it.
Hi Sue - it definitely would be tricky!! I would recommend planning out your cuts on the fabric with your lining fabric to try and get the pieces to match and flow.
Hi Guys!! Come and follow me over on Instagram too 🙂👍 instagram.com/faceliftinteriors
why do you protect the weds with hessian? would other types of fabric work?
AH hi there! I use hessian as it’s strong and stops the foam from collapsing through the webs. But you could use other fabrics.
OMG!!! What a fantastic video to come across. Love your use of everyday terminology as a beginner of tub chairs. Thank you for saving me hours of mistakes, frustration and walking away from all the tub chairs I have saved up to recover.

I really agree Ricky! Thanks for your continued support mate, it means a lot 😊👍🏻

Thank you so much Aline 😊🙏🏻
Do you not need to remove the staples off the old webbing? Does that make stapling the new ones on more difficult?
I love your videos
Thank you Jennifer! I’m glad you find them helpful 😁🙏🏻
Sure like this. The energy, quite contagious. Got me out of the sofa. Off topic: your dialect....just curious, from where in England?

Wonderful, thanks! Also, can't help thinking how much easier garment making would be if we could use spray glue and staples. 😂
I can imagine, nothing like a hard bit of wood to staple too. Many thanks for watching 😊 🙏 🧵 ✂️ ⛏️ 📐

How would consider a pattern match on tub chair - I’m finding impossible, great job
Hi Sue - it definitely would be tricky!! I would recommend planning out your cuts on the fabric with your lining fabric to try and get the pieces to match and flow.
Omg that fabric on the original tho , it was awesome
Yea it was a cool fabric!
How do you take a rotating bottom off? I can’t see any screws.
There will have definitely been screws or bolts. 👍✂️📌🧵📐🪡
Approximately how many yards of material do you need for this chair?
I work in metres, approximately 5m for this one. 👍🧵📎📐✂️⛏️
What brand is ur pneumatic staple gun?
Hi there! This one is a Takwise 👍🏻

Do youd have a vedio on covering a tub chair with striped fabric please 🙏 😂
How much meter of textile was used for this chair?
Hi Rhea! I used 5 metres of fabric.
How much fabric did you use pls?
