This one has all the traits of the BRILLIANT ideas: simple, inexpensive, easy to do and, mosT of all - works like a charm. CONGRATULATIONS. You solved one of the biggest problems in hight adjustment for D.I.Y. router tables.
Anyway, it is an incredible ideia. Thanks for sharing. Here in Brasil power tools are awfully expensive. When you buy a plunge router, you're not going to buy another power tool for a loooong time...
Brilliant. If i make one, i'll just use the motor itself, and capture it, joining the motor to the jack, for both up and down. With rotor lifts costing hundreds of dollars, this shows how clever we can be. Thank you.
Great, simple and achievable idea. Tired of videos of woodworkers making 'beginner level' tools or setups using a hoarde of expensive workshop tools an components. Perfectly pitched, clearly described and enjoyable to watch. Thank you!
I really like how simple an idea this router lift is. I have always wanted to build one, but never cared how complicated most lifts seem to be. Thank you
A modern day Heath Robinson, with all the silly and impractical bits taken out. If you have not heard of him look him up. Great job and thanks for all the time you put into your videos.
Super!!! I bought the same jack months ago and haven't gotten around to thinking, let alone installing, on my router table. Will save this video for this evening. Thanks Sergio...cheers...rr
Genius! I've been wanting to put a router-table on the side of my table saw for a long time but the lifters I've seen so far would take up too much project time. This solves it for me. Thanks!
I used the same method for my router lift as I had a spare jack lying around. I Put a spacer between the router and jack that pressed both outer side of the router base with material removed in the middle of the spacer so that it won't close the router ventilation. I-----I router base I------I I I_____________I I I_____________________I I think the router casing will have more strength on the sides of the casing as on the center. I also put the jack higher so that it won't have to extend so far to the limit of the jack. I find the jack is more stable when it is not extended so far. Thanks for your videos, I find them interesting.
George van der Walt .Yeah I made one with a jack a couple of years ago too. I set it into a timber elevator type box with t-track style vertical rails up the side to keep in on line. I found there was slight movement and wobble otherwise. Can't complain though. The jack was free and the timber was scrapwood.
Very innovative. I've got a couple of those jacks laying around from old cars and I just might try that. Also, I have one of the Craftsman drill presses that doesn't have a table lift screw and the jack idea would make raising and lowering the table a lot easier. Thanks for the idea.
Well as always you did it again. Really useful tip a big thumbs up. I did however do this a couple of years back BUT the way you did the handle and the turning knob really good idea. Anyone who wants to get the best out of their router do this as it works better than the more expensive ready made but thas my opinion for what its worth . Thank you Sergio keep the videos coming real clever.
Jolly good job Sergioo,,, I am going to copy your lift, because the Porter Cable model 7539 weighs 20 lbs., to Heavy for screw lifts on the sides. This is so simple that Einstein could not follow along. Thanks for sharing. Rocketbob Alabama
es el segundo video tuyo que he visto, y esta muy bien, no me habria ocurrido. TB megusta tu mesa de corte con el "jigsaw" invertido con rodamientos. muy bueno.
Very Cool. I have used a Scissor Jack for my Router lift for the last 4 years and It works just Great. Very pleased with it. Great video Thanks for sharing...
You could get long screws for the back of the router , the same as the screws that mount the black plate and place a plywood ring In Between the router and lift . The longer screws secure the back black plate and also the plywood ring. The ring will allow air flow for cooling and it will have wooden mounts for the lift to secure . You could make the ring out of two rings one hugging the side of the circular back plate and one slightly smaller and it can fit snug as opposed to screws. Good video.
The thing to be beware of is that if you put anything on top of the jack to spread the pressure, you may be blocking the vent holes of the router causing the router to over-heat. If you do use something there, make sure to lock the router depth and then slack off the jack to allow air-flow. I have been using a car-jack this way for a while and the router casing seems to be holding up all right.
Yes, you are right. Besides, one must always lock the router lever that locks the router depth. It helps to avoid any unwanted up or down movement of the router
very nice solution. i thought of this before and decided to look and see if someone has actually implemented it. nice job. depending on the size of the table, i might be inclined to either leave the original handle on it or make a longer attachment so I don't have to crawl under the table to operate it.
Well you've come u with another simple, yet brilliant & easy idea. Another one of your projects I'm going to pinch & make. Thanks again Amigo...lol :-)
Every time I get a car I replace the scissor jack with a bottle jack I buy. I have 3 of these jacks. so glad I didnt Throw them away. I have been researching router table builds for a long time.
Thanks Sergio, very quick and effective. I must make a fitting for my tiny trim-router to fit under my table too, but must be designed to fit a non-springy hand-held router. I will think how I can use your idea.
Motor cable system is awesome. So please keep this. With a small alteration. You could use a acme threaded rod or trapezoidal lead screw, instead of the threaded rod you used. The wear in this can be completely eliminated.
By removing the router springs , I've used a bicycle brake line for 6 years on my(almost daily use) router table. I still have 5 more bicycle brake lines in the plastic because I expected I'd have to change them a lot.
jajajajaja 😂😂😂, perdona. Parece que cuando leí tu comentario me salté la parte de Huelva 😅. Y tampoco me paré a pensar que Punta Umbría es en España. Es lo que pasa al tener que responder muchos comentarios, a veces me lio un poco 😄
very nice. but on your place I would add a blank wood on the end of lift. there where it touch router engine cover. now you have one point touching it and stress the cover. if you do as I advice you will have the stress spreader on more points so it won't brake router cover after time. I use same idea ;) but on bosh 1200ae router ;) but it works ;)
Nice idea for quick fix I would put a small pice of wood between the jack and the router with some holes drilled in it for venting I think the plastic will brake eventually without a bit more support
This one has all the traits of the BRILLIANT ideas: simple, inexpensive, easy to do and, mosT of all - works like a charm.

I really like how simple an idea this router lift is. I have always wanted to build one, but never cared how complicated most lifts seem to be. Thank you
I was just going to say, ' the simplest is the best', but Kelvin & Ozzy beat me to it, great idea this car jack method.
Simple , quick, and and just a plain old genius idea.
Genius! I've been wanting to put a router-table on the side of my table saw for a long time but the lifters I've seen so far would take up too much project time. This solves it for me. Thanks!
I have used this system for years , works fine. Had much fun watxhing those intricat systems many have showed here on UA-cam
I used the same method for my router lift as I had a spare jack lying around. I Put a spacer between the router and jack that pressed both outer side of the router base with material removed in the middle of the spacer so that it won't close the router ventilation.

yep, did the same thing, but I instead of a wooden handle I used a small bumper plate weight to act as a flywheel/handle, works like a charm!
George van der Walt .Yeah I made one with a jack a couple of years ago too. I set it into a timber elevator type box with t-track style vertical rails up the side to keep in on line. I found there was slight movement and wobble otherwise. Can't complain though. The jack was free and the timber was scrapwood.
Perfect again Sergio, simple efficient and low cost. I bought myself a car jack in the Thriftstore, costed exact 3 euros and 50 cents
Thank you Nico. It is not as great as a brand new fashion router lift, but it is good enough :D
Ingenious. Peoples creativity never ceases to amaze me. Nice job.
Once again a brilliantly simple idea. I'll pick up a used car jack tomorrow!
You are a gifted bloke.... Keep making these videos please!
I have used this same setup for a few years now. works great. your setup is a little more refined than mine. great work
I thought of this when I was building my router table today and I thought it was my invention😂. Great stuff
now all I need to do is build a router table. Thank you for the simplest lift I've seen yet.
Very innovative. I've got a couple of those jacks laying around from old cars and I just might try that. Also, I have one of the Craftsman drill presses that doesn't have a table lift screw and the jack idea would make raising and lowering the table a lot easier. Thanks for the idea.
Pretty darn clever...and inspiring! Thanks Sergio!
Well I love all of your videos and have subscribed. Thanks again!
The simplest things are often the best... Brilliant Sergio 👏👏👏... Thanks for sharing 👍
Yep, every time I come to Sergio's video's, he surprises me yet again. Necessity is the mother of invention or at least ideas.
Congratulations, the smartest router lift I've seen
Simplemente brillante sergio, fantastico, Gracias por colgar tus ideas. Very good Sergio.
i made the same lift a while ago (4 years ) and i stil use mine regularly andd its still working great
Well done Sergio !! Very good job !!
What a simple but Genius idea - Well done that man :)
Well as always you did it again. Really useful tip a big thumbs up. I did however do this a couple of years back BUT the way you did the handle and the turning knob really good idea. Anyone who wants to get the best out of their router do this as it works better than the more expensive ready made but thas my opinion for what its worth . Another amazing idea. You are a thinking man & the lift works perfectly.
I’ve been thinking about a DIY router table. The other videos I see are nice but over engineered. This is perfect for my application. Thanks 👍
Great video Sergio.
So clever and simple I will add something between the router and Jack with vents
Very cool. I need to build a router lift for my Bosch POF 1400 router
Jolly good job Sergioo,,, I am going to copy your lift, because the Porter Cable model 7539 weighs 20 lbs., to Heavy for screw lifts on the sides. This is so simple that Einstein could not follow along. Thanks for sharing. Rocketbob Alabama
Brilliant i have a spare jack, going to start on this tomorrow 👌
This is sure the simplest way to make a plunge router lift 😀.
I use a bottle jack, but that is so fussy compared to this. Brilliant idea very simply done. Thanks for sharing
A screw jack, like the ones used by Toyota is another option.
I recently bought one of the Toyota screw jacks, paid $15 (Canadian).
So so good. So far its my top choice for a future project. Many thanks to you sir
This is fantastic it is just what I needed to do to my route thank-you so much for making this video!
Thanks for watching 😀. It is not the very best router lift, but it works
That is one of the most simple ways to doe it. THANK you, that was brilliant
I think this idea is very inventive and brilliant i like it
I purchased a jack some time ago to lift the router up but seeing how you done this I will do the same think as you great
es el segundo video tuyo que he visto, y esta muy bien, no me habria ocurrido. TB megusta tu mesa de corte con el "jigsaw" invertido con rodamientos. muy bueno.
As always Sergio, you're a genius. All your videos are so simple to understand. My shop is made from the majority of ur designs. Thankyou.👍🏼😁
Great and easy! I will try this for my routertable! Thanks!
Very Cool. I have used a Scissor Jack for my Router lift for the last 4 years and It works just Great. Very pleased with it. Great video Thanks for sharing...
I like it, simple and effective. Good job.
Excellent video!
Copied this, works a treat, thanks for sharing

i like that, i think i´ll buy mi a jack and bild it under my table to.
GOOD JOB!!! THANKS FOR SHARING
Thanks for watching Willem. Not the best router table lift, but it is good enough 😀
Very original & effective. I look forward to seeing it doing some work in the near future. Kind regards.
Simple and effective.
Thanks for sharing.

great video. I subscribed for a long long time and I always enjoy your projects and mostly the way you explain. Big Thanks
Hi, I used a rubber tread with grooves between the jack and the router, works well! Thanks for the idea!
very nice solution. i thought of this before and decided to look and see if someone has actually implemented it. nice job. depending on the size of the table, i might be inclined to either leave the original handle on it or make a longer attachment so I don't have to crawl under the table to operate it.
Actually I can operate the crank and still have my head over the router table top :)
Sergio very clever and very simple "Bravo" Greetings from "Windy City, Chicago USA" Chao colega...

Every time I get a car I replace the scissor jack with a bottle jack I buy. I have 3 of these jacks. so glad I didnt Throw them away. I have been researching router table builds for a long time.
I think these can also be useful to make a workbench vice 😁
@@WoodworkingwithDIYtools that is a excellent idea also.
great idea. Congrats!!!
clever solution. i love your videos
Thanks Sergio, very quick and effective. I must make a fitting for my tiny trim-router to fit under my table too, but must be designed to fit a non-springy hand-held router. I will think how I can use your idea.

Thanks. I just wish there was a way to make the handle higher. My lower back doesn't love bending over ;) Great video as always, thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much 😃. It's a pain when one have mobility problems. Sure you will find a nice way to improve this router table lift. Take care
very nice. but on your place I would add a blank wood on the end of lift. there where it touch router engine cover. now you have one point touching it and stress the cover. if you do as I advice you will have the stress spreader on more points so it won't brake router cover after time.
