@@xxbunnyloverstudioxx619 Bunny & rabbit are the same. It's just when people say "bunny", you usually visualize the cute, baby ones. A bunny is a rabbit.
@daduu chargers no it’s not it causes unnecessary stress. Also the only time you are supposed to clean your rabbit is if they are 1. Special needs and can’t do it themselves or 2. Somehow has gotten extremely dirty. Also you use a damp cloth to clean them you never pour water or put them in water because they have thick hair and can freeze to death. Rabbits are extremely clean animals and constantly groom themselves they don’t need you help in that area. It’s cruel and putting them on their back is cruel it can cause them to have a heart attack. Every time you’re “cleaning” then you are risking killing a poor innocent bunny because you can’t put aside your ego in order to listen to what is safe and unsafe for your rabbit and their health.
All people getting upset about the negative comments, please google "bathing a rabbit" You are not supposed to bath a rabbit with water, especially completely saturating them! Their skin is extremely fragile and sensitive, it can be very easily lacerated or damaged. They should not be put under water as they have very thick hair with many layers, the underneath layer takes over a day to almost completely dry, they can get sick being wet that long. Lastly, the rabbit is obviously not enjoying laying in the water at the beginning , when they zoom in to his face he is shaking! People should not own rabbits that haven't bothered doing simple research on the animal.
I use fragrance free sensitive baby wipes to wipe up dirt on my bunnies paws I never bath them. They clean them selves otherwise while bathing them they can go into shock at first with a heart attack after. This video makes me so sad.
Don't do this. Rabbits can clean themselves. He was not relaxed, he was terrified and in shock!! Edit: That's a lot of thumbs up, I've never gotten so many before, thanks!
DO NOT hold the rabbit with their back parallel to the floor - this will induce a "trance" state which may seem relaxing but is actually incredibly stressful for the rabbit; it is an extreme fear-based response to a predatory situation. Be sure to give proper support and keep a firm hold so your bunny is as un-stressed as possible.
I hope these people now know that how wrong this is. That poor rabbit is so scared and so shocked and so cold. Anytime I see some kind of cruelty like this I want to walk up to the mother f***** and hit them.
This rabbit clearly is in a state of shock and I just got tears in my eyes because he wants to get away. Rabbits are like cats; they lick themselves to get cleaned. They don’t need baths unless they are sick and are unable to clean themselves, and it should just be in shallow, warm water and it should be really quick. Otherwise, spot cleaning should do the trick. I have a pet bunny for 4 months now, and I can attest to the fact that even spot cleaning takes a while for their fur to dry as it’s thick. I checked and the bunny in this video has passed away which is so sad. :( Please, if you ever get a pet bunny, do not give them baths. :(
True and those quick baths, the rabbit should not be getting drenched. They shouldn't be sitting in a sink full of water, but should be able to cover their feet. Taking a rag and wetting it to just dip in the water 1 time and wipe a few times, they could use a solution of water and the dry spray. And you right about their fur also. I have 2, and they like to groom each other, they always take a while to dry even after they groom their self. And I have lion heads, and I have also cut them before so their fur grows thicker than normal
@@jazstyles8410 I agree! My pet bunny loves running around in our backyard which makes his paws a bit dirty and although I’d love for them to be really clean and white, I need to hold myself back to give him even a bath for just his paws because I’m not sure how he’ll react with water. I just do spot cleaning right after his exercise instead, it takes a while to dry but it’s so much better than being drenched!
not to mention they have thinner skin and cannot regulate their heat like dogs or people. So during the drying process poor rabbit can get hypothermia 😔
When rabbits are tilted back horizontally, they become 'paralyzed'. It's an extreme stress response linked to how a rabbit might behave when caught by a predator (pretending to be dead in an attempt to make the predator lose interest). Also rabbits don't need baths as they groom themselves regularly. If it's necessary to clean a rabbit for whatever reason, it should not be submerged in water. They can easily become hypothermic or go into shock. I'm not going to insult the owner/s as the rabbit may be looked after just fine in other aspects, but in this video, it is not happy and certainly not relaxed.
This is animal abuse. Edit: never, EVER bathe your bunnies under ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. If needed, take a warm, damp towel and pat them lightly. Dry them off immediately afterwards. Unless they’re drenched in mud or something, don’t bathe them. They can take care of themselves.
All that is wrong with this video: 1. The rabbit is on its back, in a trance and paralyzed out of fear. 2. It is drenched in water and some of it is getting on its head. 3. Some of the water ended up in the bunny's ears. 4. They decided to "give it a shower" even though it doesn't look dirty at all. 5. They are laughing without even considering to Google whether they should be bathing their rabbit. Never do this to your bun. I have a lionhead and he only had to be bathed once, when he got diarrhea. (He is alive, well and hydrated at 2 years and 6 months now.) We had to towel dry and blow dry his fur (very carefully) afterwards. If you absolutely have to bathe your bun, never soak their head and ears. Don't use any human shower products either. Their skin is very sensitive. Make sure your bun isn't stressed as stress can kill them. Basically, don't do anything the people in this video did.
@@jacobmunoz6383 never ever BATHE YOUR RABBIT! It is not loving it, it’s in shock, that can make it seem like it likes it when the truth is they can’t be bathed why don’t people do their research
Your bunny may seem calm but it is actually in a state of shock. This amount of stress on them can make them seriously I'll. they also do this when they are very scared they appear paralyzed and you may not be able to see it but if you feel there heart it will race and beat very hard. Also not good for them.
that’s horrible never do this to any rabbits, they self clean, this is abuse. STOP WASHING YOUR RABBITS, AND IF THEYRE DISABLED, LEARN HOW TO DO IT PROPERLY
@@Vainary If your rabbit is too old to clean themselves, or has medical issues, I understand, but remember that rabbits are prey. I suggest researching before replying. When putting a rabbit on its back it can hurt them, meaning theyre so scared that theyre paralyzed. They get scared easily when feeling theyre in danger and in some cases it can cause death.
I just feel the pain of the bunny while just looking at the video....it’s in shock. You can easily spot that when the rabbit has its face completely still and it’s ears facing completely backwards. God I feel so bad for it....:(
How in the hell could you do this???? God, that poor baby 😢 😫😭😭😭 I just wanna protect it, hold it , cuddle it, and tell it everything is going to be okay
@@Nobody2774b are you 9 saying that shit "Hahaaaa noob ' bro what go off your mothers ipad and go learn about animals that shit kills them + ratio + you have 2 dads + motherless + obese
You are trancing the bunny. It may look like he is relaxed but he is terrified, scared for his life but unable to move. Do not ever put a bunny on his back with his head under his heart. Also, bunnies can't regulate their temperature very well so if you need to wash your bunnies butt because he can not reach it himself, ONLY wash his butt, not his entire body. And dry him off with a hair dryer before letting him go outside. He can go into hypothermia real quick. There's a reason so many comments are negative, please listen to them. This is so wrong.
After reading comments saying that this poor bunny is in shock I feel so bad for him Before you get a pet please research because if you do something that is harmful to them you won't even know what's wrong!
@@ducky_lad Yeah, that's the problem. I don't know how old that rabbit was when it died, but rabbits can live anywhere from 8-12 years. This is still a learning situation. And the fact that this video STILL hasn't gotten taken down is very concerning.
I can't believe people find this cute... I'm also surprised the poor thing didn't get sick or die of shock. 1. You should NEVER hold or put a rabbit on its back. It is not relaxing. It puts them in a paralytic state. They have no choice but to lay there, frozen in fear. It doesn't matter how long you've had them or how much you believe they like it; its wrong. 2. Rabbits have no need to be bathed in water. Like you said yourself, they can clean their bodies on their own. Washing a bun (and especially while its turned over in a prey-like state) causes unnecessary stress. If your bunny honestly gets that dirty you probably arent taking good care of it or its surroundings.
Rabbit did die if you look at another later video weather it was due to being submerged in water which is a no no or other natural causes/sickness but it did sadly pass away
I just want to say about the description saying this "As for all the negative comments, I hold him in a baby position in my arms as well and it relaxes him to sit that way so he falls asleep" and "After his baths he goes outside to dry off as usual" and "It is absolutely harmless! So don't be so negative about this people" That isn't relaxing or sleeping- its Trancing and there is a big difference between the two, and that just means the bunny is being tranced in this video and also every time its held like a baby. Going outside after being that wet is the worst possible place for him to dry off - Might as well ask for Hypothermia every time that happens since that's what will happen in the end. It is absolutely not harmless - and in fact is risking death of the rabbit, its not about being negative - its biological facts. Trancing means the bunny has almost gone into shock - and has given up trying to fight it - and has pretty much resigned itself to probable death - and could lead to shock or a heart attack. Going outside to dry means the bunny will most likely freeze - unless you live in the desert somewhere and the heat is unbearable outside. This video was also featured on Scooping poop Channel on the video titled "PET UA-camR REACTS TO AWFUL RABBIT TIK TOKS! (BATH EDITION) // Don't Bathe Your Rabbit!" (Time = 8:12) Also Lennon the Bunny channel has an informative video on the dangers of Rabbit Baths in general as well on the video titled "PET UA-camR REACTS TO PROBLEMATIC BUNNY TIK TOK VIDEOS" These videos give a much more realistic description of why to never do this and why every bath is a gamble with the rabbits life. Also I would just like to add I noticed the bunny is shaking in the video in fear - hardly relaxed or sleeping - Don't be fooled people - This is not a good idea!
Unfortunately Cloody is anything but relaxed, but is in a state known as tonic immobility. In this state prey animals are basically playing dead and are highly stressed and fearful. So much so that putting rabbits on their back is strongly discouraged in UK guidelines for the handling and management of laboratory animals, and by the Rabbit Welfare Fund for pet animals. If you wish to learn more about the science and evidence for this then the Rabbit Welfare Fund has just published an article about this, and you can easily find information by typing in Tonic Immobility in Google Scholar. By the way it is seen in a wide variety of species. (including humans in extreme terror).. and sadly on a lot of You Tubes where people have misunderstood what is happening.. with titles such as 'cute alert! baby hedgehog boat ' Anne McBride
I'm glad that 9 years later people are still commenting on this thing nearly on the daily just to let this guy know how ignorant as hell he is to think that his bunny is falling asleep when in reality it's moments away from dying of shock. Well, knowing this guy's video description and how he clearly doesn't know anything, the bunny is probably long gone, which, I'm not sad about actually, cause at least that means it doesn't have to deal with an owner that doesn't know how to take care of rabbits anymore.
I have seen wild rabbits soak in the river near our house, on the bank where the water just laps gently around them. They get rather dusty and need to clean their skin. I had a cat who used to wade into the paddling pool. My dog (cocker spaniel) loves to get in the bath and get fussed over a bit extra... any creature will get into a pool of water, especially for all that attention. It is obviously loved.
Xegano Clearly you don't know the definition of the word 'hate'. Look it up in the dictionary. It's a FACT! I don't condone the torture of animals, perhaps you do which is why you don't like my comment. Something wrong with you I reckon.
You know, all the people commenting on how this is animal cruelty are probably half the reason animal cruelty isn't taken seriously anymore. This rabbit is STILL ALIVE and probably loved more than you can imagine; enough to make sure that he's kept clean and healthy. Does he look stressed? Yeah, a tad... however even dogs and cats look stressed when they're given baths because they're not sure what's going on. However, if they trust their owner enough they calm down a bit. Seriously, my cats rarely get baths because they do keep themselves fairly clean, but when one of them got a fly trap (those little fly ribbon things) stuck to him he NEEDED to be bathed. Those have poisons on them which I did not want him licking out of his fur. He hated the bath but after a little while with a bit of soft talking and comfort he calmed down and now doesn't mind baths as much. It's not abuse. Abuse would be letting the animal go about dirty with possible poisons in their fur which they'll ingest and get sick or worse, die from. Stop bitching and moaning about how horrible this is and read the damn description! "## I DO NOT BATH HIM EVERY DAY OR WEEK!!! I BATH HIM ONLY WHEN HE'S REALLY DIRTY!! ##" AKA: This isn't a daily thing she does to the rabbit. Only when necessary. FYI: NOT. ABUSE. NOT. CRUEL. Putting him on his back? Probably not a good idea, however IF he was really intent on getting away he'd be up and out of that water in no time flat. I don't know if any of you have ever dealt wit a rabbit but they are fast and actually pretty strong for their size. You cannot keep them anywhere for too long if they want to get out/away. To me this is the ultimate sign of trust between pet and owner. He's on his back, not struggling, not flaring, just laying. This isn't a 'frozen' pose either. Their instinct is to RUN, not freeze in the face of danger. Is the rabbit nervous? Likely... but you can tell he's somewhat content by the fact he just lays there. It's probably nice and warm to him and he's not a wild rabbit either. This is a bred species so chances are his instincts to flee aren't nearly as high as a wild rabbit. He grew up with these humans and he likely trusts them. Again, stop griping about this... THIS IS NOT ABUSE. They're not beating the animal or doing any harm to it. He's still alive (or was after this, I don't know how old he is/was) and unharmed. Tada!
Listen, with your long ass rant you are still wrong. It puts them in a trance. ►"Their instinct is to RUN, not freeze in the face of danger."◄ Idiot. It is not an instant paralyses. Some people like to THINK that the bunny is trusting & relaxed in this state. Placing a rabbit on his back in the right position and under the right conditions can cause a sort of temporary paralysis. This isn't due to physical injury, however, but part of a survival mechanism. Tonic Immobility In the simplest of terms, tonic immobility is "playing dead." While people might teach their dogs to play dead as a fun trick, for a rabbit it's an extreme means of surviving an attack. When a rabbit has been caught by a predator, tonic immobility allows him to become limp and unresponsive. His blood pressure and respiration rate drop as well. This often convinces the predator that the rabbit is dead and gives him one last chance to escape. Purposely inducing tonic immobility by laying a rabbit on his back can cause him serious stress. While he may appear relaxed during the trance-like state, afterward his heart and respiration rate is likely to be very high. A study led by Dr. Anne McBride of the University of Southampton found that rabbits show signs of extreme stress after an episode of tonic immobility. Another danger of placing a rabbit on his back is that he could break his back if he struggles against being turned over. So get it right before you run your mouth! No the animal may not be dead, but it is being put in an awful state and CAN be dead if it happens to often! DO SOME RESEARCH AND BECOME EDUCATED BEFORE YOU COME GIVE YOUR RIDICULOUS COMMENT!! Here is just ONE site to start you off, you can also go to others, read some books, ask a vet, whatever means for you to find some education on the matter! animals.pawnation.com/laying-rabbit-its-back-paralyze-it-2640.html
Tammy J Because calling someone and 'idiot' within the first line of your "correction" is going make me listen to you. I'm not an idiot, so fuck you for that. That was incredibly rude. Since you are so inclined to have such a horrible attitude, take note that while I did read what you wrote I'm not holding any validity in it because you couldn't say it without being a jerk. Enjoy that bitter pill. FYI: This is a pet rabbit. It's still alive and no, this is NOT animal cruelty. If this were in fact cruelty all you bleeding hearts would have called animal control on this lady and the rabbit would be gone or dead. So take all your facts and shove off. While you may be 'right'... you're an asshole about it. Learn to NOT insult people when trying to be informative. It helps you not look like a pedantic know it all.
THIS IS CRUEL AND UNNECESSARY! This poor rabbit should NOT be on his back, nor should so much water be continuously poured over him. It is NOT funny when he shakes his head because of the water rolling down his face and ears. He has no solid footing and obviously wants OUT of the sink. WHAT is wrong with you people?
efesgirl999 and transparentfur are both right. They really shouldn't be doing that to a rabbit. if it gets up really fast like that then it can go automatically into shock and die. and people really don't need to give rabbits baths often. it makes it that much easier to make him/her go into shock. so Jeramiah Goldstein and Jay N, you both need to stfu and ur both freaking retards! you don't know what ur talking about! >:O
Apparently you've never seen any animal shake water off them and still enjoy the activity. My dog dives into the pool headfirst and stills shakes his head to keep water out of their ears. He's not even remotely freaking out. Shaddup and quit pretending you have any training in animal behavior.
bunnies r life Dun dun dun! REBUTTAL TIME! Ahem, so let's say you are right, let's say such and such occurs to a rabbit and they do go into shock and it can die, are you saying that this person is simply trying to resort to that task of killing its own pet by giving it a bath? Cause when you disagree with the fact its not proper, you agree with the other people here who think its "Animal Abuse". I want you to remember to keep in mind, where else would you prefer to clean a rabbit that may Stink or smell like crap? Are you gonna suggest outside where most use a hose which will eventually splurt out COLD water? Or would you prefer inside like what this individual is doing being able to control the warmth of the temperature with the water? Cruel and Unnecessary as Efesgirl said it was? Sadly, if this individual was doing something cruel, she wouldn't of taken the time to care for her precious pet and clean it everywhere as seen in this video. Unnecessary? Does that mean you'd prefer to keep a real stinky pet and just pretend you smell nothing? Quite Sanitary with you I bet. Oh wait, does that mean instead of using the sink, you're gonna try to use the bathtub instead? Do you feel that spacious room in a tub will give it a better understanding of not being scared and it'll clean everything by itself without us owners to clean our own pets? I'm sure at this point that's "Wishful" thinking. All in all, I will give you a little bit of knowledge credit when it comes to saying "Rabbits do not need baths often" but I'm sure you purposely avoided or easily forgotten about the "details" that this video includes explaining that the owner doesn't do the cleaning to her rabbit all the time and did it because of the sheer filth her rabbit had within that day. So now here's the "real" question people probably want to know; What are you talking about? Cause honestly, its not the video that makes people truly believe this is animal cruelty, its the people who watch and think negatively that this owner is doing something wrong when clearly its quite the opposite. I'm sure its also common sense that if someone knew that this was animal abuse, including the owner, don't you think it makes more sense NOT to publish the video to show others on YT? I'm sure she did this on a genuine attempt to show how lovely her rabbit is and her support by cleaning him up to his fullest potential through a calm and self relaxing process. Sadly, at the end of the day, whether this video truly shows her love, or a malicious attempt to "ridiculously" show animal abuse as you say it is, its you certain people that make an innocent thing look like a terrible thing. Well, there's my 10 cents of the day making my "10 times the amount of work put into making it" into use. Oh, another thing, simply telling someone off though short Acronyms like "Stfu" doesn't help your stand point very well, it actually degrades your argument and proves to others how ignorant you can be through something you truly misunderstood. Anyways, Have a Happy EASTER Sunday.
Never in my 6 years off having my rabbit has he been smelly. He actually smells good if that makes any sense. That rabbit is in shock. Now my cat on the other hand is a longhair and maybe once a year I give him a bath. He likes water. If he freaked out I would not continue doing it but he doesn’t mind it.
@@putmeinamovie6886 That rabbit is in shock and unable to move, they're torturing their rabbit as forcing a rabbit into shock in any way, or any animal into shock, is animal abuse and they should be imprisoned :0)
My bunny is 8. She cannot clean her bottom anymore. Every week she sits in the bath paws and bottom only (2inches of water) and loves it. She hops herself down there. In the beginning she would fight/flight/freeze but in a couple weeks was basking in the warm water. It was the only way I could keep her from the urine burns and other yuckies. If I had thought It was to much for her I would not have tried. Yes, yes she goes to the vet for a trim and care regularly.
I had a similar situation. Also responded similarly, 2 inches of warm water with a little baby shampoo, let him soak in there for a bit. He never liked being in the tub but it was preferable to impaction or flystrike.
I do that for my overweight bunny because she can't clean herself, but I would never torture one they did in this video. The only reason to clean a rabbit is if they can't do it themselves.
This is wrong! I'm sorry if you don't know any better but this puts rabbits in an unnatural vulnerable situation. That rabbit is petrified and in temporary paralysis due to a last- chance instinct that prey animals have! It horribly stressed the pet and can lead to medical issues! Please stop.
@@Nobody2774b you are extremely uneducated, thier fur is denser than you think, it takes weeks for it to even dry You Bathe a bunny and it dies from cold
You clearly don't know shit about rabbits. It is in a 'trance' or a pleasant state of mind. If you knew anything at all, you would know that this rabbit is actually enjoying itself. Fucking idiot.
You're honestly a dumbass if you think this rabbit is enjoying that. What indicates that he's enjoying it? Please tell me, because his body language indicates to me that he's in prey mode and terrified. Also, if you think that this the correct way to wash an animal then you are completely wrong.
+Spe Erio you're so incredibly stupid assuming that this rabbit is in a trance. Responsible rabbit owners don't even fully BATHE their rabbits unless it's for a medical reason. Rabbits clean themselves naturally and have oils that protect their fur and skin. They self-groom. A responsible owner wouldn't even allow their rabbit to get that dirty that they would have to bathe them like that!
All the people claiming that this is not animal abuse clearly have no concept of animal behaviour and have probably never owned any pet let alone a rabbit, and so to all of you who cry "its not cruel, retards" I say fuck off and get a sense of fucking perspective.
Gosha Rubchinskiy It is estimated that there are around 1.6 billion rabbits in the world (of all breeds) and I assume it is my duty to inform you, seeing as your look to me like a Slavic inbreed who didn't have much in the way of an education, that there are over 6 billion Human on earth and so judging by your comment you think it is ok to do this to an animal as there is a large number of them in the world. Therefore I think it would be perfectly ok for there to be a video posted of you being waterboarded by giant fucking rabbits.
Definitely not in a paralyzed state, you can tell when it gets up and it's on all fours. If you've had a connection with a pet for many years then you can internally feel that this rabbit here is just chillaxin' because of the warmth of the water
Rabbits don't like water and they often panic when the owner/owners try to bathe them. So they are susceptible to hypothermia, meaning being wet will increase that risk as well.
what did he do other than bathing a bunny? ppl r 10x more sensitive nowadays lmao. the poor guy got harassed and "eDuCaTeD" by a bunch of annoying children for 9 years straight
While I don't believe the rabbit is being harmed, I also don't believe it is enjoying the shower. When rabbits are put on their back and their necks are extended, they go into a trance like state, its a survival tactic to survive predator attacks, to imitate death. Not trying to be a downer, as I said, the rabbit seems fine, I think its a fun video, just thought it was worth pointing out as some people seem worried in the comments.
the rabbit is still like that because it is in shock. They should never be in this position. The animal is extremely stressed, at risk of skin issues due to be saturated and at risk from being cold. But the biggest issue here is the shock, rabbits in this state can have heart attacks. It seems harmless to the uneducated, until the rabbit dies.
"DO NOT hold the rabbit with their back parallel to the floor - this will induce a "trance" state which may seem relaxing but is actually incredibly stressful for the rabbit; it is an extreme fear-based response to a predatory situation. When i was a kid, i had a really cute pet bunny. Raised her for 4 months. One day i came home from school just to find out that my Egyptian grandma made it for dinner.. Molokhia bel-araneb she called it. Still hate her from that day.
My grandmother fed me bacon...... Made outta my pig I raised for 2 years!!! ...... She waited til after I finished to tell me..... I was pissed but I find it hilarious now...... But it still makes my stomach turn
my family always joke about making my guinea pigs, chickens, bunny, & duk into dinner. they think they're so funny. it actually makes me sad even though they are kidding. it's like me telling them "I'm going to make your kids into dinner."
first off.. your not supposed to lay a bunny on their back because they will go into shock.. they play dead when eagles pick them up and they go into shock mode where they can’t move and can have a heart attack and die.. second off their coats can’t dry water fast so they can become cold in the 7 hours their cost takes to fully dry and can become too cold and they will die.. you guys think this is cute but he’s actually on the verge of dying from a heart attack.😕also bunny’s and rabbits are the same thing so stop arguing about it..
Only time rabbits should be given baths is if they can't do it themselves or they're extremely dirty underneath. Had a rabbit who had really soft poops + thick fur resulting in us needing to wash him a lot but otherwise rabbits keep themselves really clean. They're not a dog, don't give them baths.
mosesMaimon1 How do you KNOW he is in a state of shock, are you playing Mind Telephathy with the rabbit...Naw I don't think so. He is obviously enjoying his bath. MosesMaimon1 WTH. If he really wanted to leave he would be spazzing out and jumping all over the place, something trying to leave isnt going to go to sleep while its getting a relaxing bath....Perhaps you should try it sometime....Bathing in nice warm water, I wouldnt recommend the sink however, I highly doubt you would fit.
@@Syphore that it doesn't matter when it happened, this guy there wrote like 100 comments "BRO IT WAS 5 YEARS AGO", so what? we can still talk about it or condemn it, even if the animal is already dead
PICK UP A DAMN BOOK PEOPLE!! 1) rabbits need baths at least twice a year to reach the spots they cannot clean themselves, and to help get rid of built up shed. It helps remove oder from the rabbit and helps prevent skin irritation and disease. It is also helpful if your rabbit is not fixed and/or lives outside. 2) laying a rabbit on their back does NOT harm them, it simply puts them into a trans (people put sharks in a trans when it comes too close for comfort. Place a hand under its nose and it flips onto its back for a few second) a trans for them is like a harsh zone out session for us, say when we day dream. Putting the rabbit into a trans helps them not freak out as much as they would if you were to just put them in the water. People do this to cur their rabbits nails so they won't kick and squeal. It helps so you also don't injure them in the process. If this rabbit freaks out too much in water (some don't) then it would have to be out in a trans. Not saying this rabbit doesn't look stressed, but almost all animals do get stressed when placed in water (some love it some hate it ex: cats and dogs) rabbits are more fragile than most animals but as an experienced rabbit owner I know that bathing a rabbit and putting it in a trans does no harm to the animal. My household has LOTS of experience. A rabbit gets stressed even if you just pick him/her up because it goes into prey mode and automatically is reminded of being carried off by a predator. So don't cry "abuse" before studying the topic.
Please dont do this to your poor little bun! He must've been stressed to the max. I know it looks like hes relaxed, but in reality, he was just in a position where he could do nothing about what was happening to him. Next time, if your rabbit is "really dirty" take a wash cloth and soak it in lukewarm water and gently dab the area to get rid of any dirty spots your rabbit couldnt reach in his own cleaning. This mustve been a truly horrible experience for your rabbit. Not trying to be mean; just letting you know that baths are just too stressful for rabbits.
Yeah it's the owners fault but people are exaggerating and it wasn't their intentions. Everyone commenting the same thing 9 years later isn't going to change anything
when bunnies are on their back like that it means they're petrified with fear since they are prey animals. never put a bunny on its back they don't like it, even if they don't move or it seems cute...bunnies also don't needs bathes. only if they're sick and can't clean them selfs properly.

Rabbits can easily get hypothermia, laying a rabbit on it's back doens't relax him they just get in a sort of trance and play dead, stress is really bad for a rabbit and it can effect their bowels and kill them.
this rabbit already died long ago, do you realize how old this video is? I hope you get arrested for wasting the authorities time on such a little thing.
DO NOT PUT A BUNNY ON THEIR BACK!! You have no understanding whatsoever of the rabbits biology. This is just disgusting. Also: RABBITS DON'T NEED BATHS!
Why the hell would you need/want to catch a wile rabbit?! Also, if your rabbit had fleas, you use rabbit suitable flea treatment. You never give your rabbit a bath. And you never put your rabbit on its back. Its fatal.
We'll wild rabbits can be tamed as long as u don't use dish soap or shampoo there is special soaps and conditioners for rabbits at pet co or pet smart and bunts might be starving in the wild so it's pretty Nice to catch them feed them give them a bath and make them feel home :3
ZEXION TLN There is no need for you to ever catch a wild rabbit. And you never bathe a rabbit, whether it is tame or not. A domestic rabbit from Pet Co or Pets at Home are not the same as a wild rabbit. There is no reason to ever catch a wild rabbit.
So I've been reading the comments and what I have so far is that a rabbit has one and a half coats of fur and dries out in a jiffy IF you set the microwave at around power level 2 while a bunny, on the other hand, wants to be vigorously massaged and dipped by alternating hinds into first cold, then warm water and prefers the ceiling fan harness method to wrap afternoon ablutions
i thought this sounded crazy at first but ive been doing this for my bunny an its hard for him to get used to it but i put cushions all over the room in case he falls, hes losing a lot of weight, looks really lean and mean now
@Tanner Hutchings I’m assuming you’re the OP of the video who made a bunch of bot accounts to argue with everyone, which is insanity. This stupidity can kill a rabbit in minutes, pet rabbits aren’t meant to get wet, if you want to be stupid that’s fine, but don’t be ignorant.
The rabbit looks terrified, I don't see how this is healthy for the rabbit. Rabbits clean themselves, so therefore do not need a traumatic bath such as this one. I know it's so cute and it seems to be enjoying it, but it looks to be more terrified than anything. I hate to break it, but they can reach their backs when they clean themselves (like a cat).
I had a rabbit get in the mud when I let him spend some time in his outside pen and was forced to bathe him since he lived indoors. I will say that rabbits will REALLY let you know when they do not like something. Also, the do groom themselves but still develop musty odors very easily. This rabbit is very, very at ease. The fact that he is not urinating or defecating (something rabbits do whenever they are truly upset) is a sign of that. If he was truly upset then he would not stop fighting; rabbits are scrambling little things. If he was really unhappy then he would have been through their fingers in a second. Rarely do rabbits like water, but it is obvious that this one does.
I know this is a long time ago, but i need to say, that the rabbit in the video is in chok = big big pupils, shallow breathing, tense like a spring all signs that the animal is not happy, it is frozen from fear. Your bunny was fighting becuse he was mad, you were not treating him good. If your (who ever is reading this) rabbit is muddy then give it some hay and some sand, and room to move around in, you will see they clean them self. Oh and give them lots and lots of appel branches, both small medium and a few large, you can put xlarge branches in the enclosure and make it in to a forrest them, that will make your bunny happy 😉
Rabbits should never be bathed in water. In fact, rabbits should not get their fur wet as rabbit fur takes an extremely long time to dry. Wet fur has been linked to many causes of death in rabbits. Among other things, wet fur can cause hypothermia and skin infections

Well that’s a poor survival mechanism
@daduu chargers bruh have you read my comment bunnies freeze when in shock
All people getting upset about the negative comments, please google "bathing a rabbit"
You are not supposed to bath a rabbit with water, especially completely saturating them!
Thankyou, this would be a mistake if I hadn’t known about it.

This bunny is in shock and It’s breathing really fast

I've read that Rabbits can go in a state of shock when put on their backs and can even die from it.
Yes. It's called trancing.
not to mention they have thinner skin and cannot regulate their heat like dogs or people. So during the drying process poor rabbit can get hypothermia 😔
That rabbit most definitely is in shock. He's trembling.
Yh it's survival instinct to play dead thinking you're gonna get killed by a predator, poor bunny
He already looked dead. Poor baby

All that is wrong with this video:

@@bobbyb396 Yep.
So don't be so negative about this people"
That isn't relaxing or sleeping- its Trancing and there is a big difference between the two, and that just means the bunny is being tranced in this video and also every time its held like a baby.

You're NOT supposed to wash a rabbit, they clean themselves!! He looks like he's in SHOCK!!
I was actually searching for a hate comment like this, I was sure someone would see this as some kind of torturing.
Xegano
Clearly you don't know the definition of the word 'hate'. Look it up in the dictionary. It's a FACT! I don't condone the torture of animals, perhaps you do which is why you don't like my comment. Something wrong with you I reckon.
You are hating on the video because you think that the animal suffers which it clearly doesn't.
All of you people better be vegetarians. If not, stop whining. (I'm not one, btw :p)
Holding bunny upsidedown seems like he's relax but actually he's is in stress.
AKA: This isn't a daily thing she does to the rabbit.
Tonic Immobility
In the simplest of terms, tonic immobility is "playing dead." While people might teach their dogs to play dead as a fun trick, for a rabbit it's an extreme means of surviving an attack.

Dun dun dun!

Good. I wished that was the case here. This is full on horrifying for the bunny
I had a similar situation. Also responded similarly, 2 inches of warm water with a little baby shampoo, let him soak in there for a bit. He never liked being in the tub but it was preferable to impaction or flystrike.

That sounds actually pretty neat O:
Definitely not in a paralyzed state, you can tell when it gets up and it's on all fours. If you've had a connection with a pet for many years then you can internally feel that this rabbit here is just chillaxin' because of the warmth of the water
They enjoy bathing they feel like they are groomed and fresh after taking bath , and the best part is they are the best swimmers
Rabbits don't like water and they often panic when the owner/owners try to bathe them. So they are susceptible to hypothermia, meaning being wet will increase that risk as well.
Why am i watching a rabbit getting tortured and dying rn?

@@invertebrates1017 as a bunny owner can confirm my bunny vet said not to bath as well
"DO NOT hold the rabbit with their back parallel to the floor - this will induce a "trance" state which may seem relaxing but is actually incredibly stressful for the rabbit; it is an extreme fear-based response to a predatory situation. first off.. your not supposed to lay a bunny on their back because they will go into shock.. they play dead when eagles pick them up and they go into shock mode where they can’t move and can have a heart attack and die.. second off their coats can’t dry water fast so they can become cold in the 7 hours their cost takes to fully dry and can become too cold and they will die.. you guys think this is cute but he’s actually on the verge of dying from a heart attack.😕also bunny’s and rabbits are the same thing so stop arguing about it..

Trance* sorry forgot the e and it switched to trans ***
That rabbit is like "*WTH are you doing to me"

Not ok
Please dont do this to your poor little bun! He must've been stressed to the max. I know it looks like hes relaxed, but in reality, he was just in a position where he could do nothing about what was happening to him.
Next time, if your rabbit is "really dirty" take a wash cloth and soak it in lukewarm water and gently dab the area to get rid of any dirty spots your rabbit couldnt reach in his own cleaning. This mustve been a truly horrible experience for your rabbit.
Not trying to be mean; just letting you know that baths are just too stressful for rabbits.

I know someone who did that and the bunny died of a heart attack.
