I have picked up both optic and prizm retail. I like optic better but other than 2 unknown autos, not much. Prizm has been good to me, 2 major 75th Blue diamond, a Cade red/white/blue and a purple pulsar of a lesser RR.

I’ve never been a big fan of Select design wise it’s okay just not my favorite too much going on. These boxes though just atrocious, it is why I won’t be buying any of these products for the $$$. Maybe some retail prizm that’s it. By the way your 2019/20 season card pulls were awesome. I remember you doing a video afterwards I think you had 13 Prizm Zions, about the same Ja Morants. So many nice cards that year. The Zion autograph I think from Optic.. heaps of good stuff!
I dont collect, i dont buy any sports card stuff, I am really big into pokemon reselling mainly japan prod cuz USA buyers sometimes have a hard time coming buy at an OK price, but i binge watch your videos all the time (I am a sports fan) so i know most of the players and such i just love seeing how many different types of cards and versions there are it amazes me! My LCS is VERY VERY big into Sports cards like they have EVERYTHINNNNG so maybe i need to look into his sports prices and see what i can flip :D Thanks for being awesome PM
I'm hooked on Prizm. In one Target Mega box, I pulled a Cade Red Ice and a Jalen Green silver that both came back Gem Mint 10. But an Optic Blaster gave me an Orange Klay Splash /39 that came back a 10 too! Can't really complain about either.
Out of those boxes select was by far the best, but all three products as a whole this year are all something I wouldn’t go anywhere near. I feel like whether it’s retail or hobby l, you have a rather large chance of getting screwed completely - like $15 worth of cards as a return type screwed. Sure there’s a chance you could get something cool, but there’s a far higher chance you’ll get the middle finger from panini instead. I’d rather save that money and buy a box of FOTL optic football or some singles instead. The risk is just too great.
You want parallels, go to Wild Card. May be bottom shelf but their new 22-23 Matte cards are nice. Last years I got Jabari Smith auto 1/5 and Josh Giddey auto 1/3. These chrome cards all look too similar.
Tuff rip. You should put Illusions vs them. I know not chrome or a super popular set. But seems to hit way better this year and 1/2 the price of select/optic. But fun show.
The out of control watered down checklist was cool when single resale prices were through the roof. Now that boxes are still expensive and singles are worth pennies on the dollar, it’s played out.
You should be the #1 breaker. We the people like you. Breakers should be regulated but I think you would pass the test. I just have a good hunch that you are the real deal. ✌

i am very new to the hobby and trying to understand as i have started ripping blasters of select. so are the base cards from these big select boxes the silver cards, but from blasters they are blue? is that just the way it is? all i want is to pull ONE numbered card and hopefully complete base set blue while chasing a numbered
This is why I laugh when people say to only buy hobby boxes and no retail. To spend $500/$1000 on a single box and get nothing is brutal. $500 of Optic retail or $1000 of Prizm retail would almost for sure give more value than the boxes in this video. Just a lower ceiling

Your experience right here is pretty much exactly what my experiences have been. Optic looks great but pull the absolute WORST. Prizm is always kinda disappointing, but in a "well, that's what I get" kind of sensibility...and Select absolutely overperforms. For all the shit Select gets, it's always got the highest floor and the floor is pretty much what you should always expect.

all 3 are usually brutal lol...gotta go with prizm tho...this year's select has some of the worst qc, seen packs in both hobby and h2 with triple the standard # of cards(all crappy ofc)...4 or 5 tricolors in a row...4 or 5 base courtsides in a row...shit like that...never a pack with 4 or 5 golds in a row tho haha...never seen 2 red 75th in 1 box either...
Back in the days when boxes online cost 50 to 150$ that Dirk patch was a monster and patches came out of every product not like these days where breakers are happy with colour cards out of 1000$ boxes

Not based on this rip but select first just because you get better contents like it’s the only one with a RPA and the rookie to non rookie ratio is one of the best then for the price probably optic then prism last but those two are so risky only say optic in front because the price. Sick Dirk
For me it’s optic for sure, the quality of card, all the way to the inserts are better to me…. Then I’d go select and prizm last, I know prizm is the Cadillac of hobby but to me has to come in 3rd

I think it's weird that they make cards of retired players unless they are some sort of sub set or insert specifically made for past players, but that Dirk is a pretty sick card.
It's become more common in recent years, and only applies to the base sets, but from what I can tell its to make the checklist larger so they can print more parallels. Larger checklist = bigger print run, more parallel cards. I think its for the better, it really helps to make the huge checklists from sets like Prizm a bit more palatable

For someone like myself who is a bit more on the collector side, I think its great that i can build a alternative collection of these older stars without requiring the necessary budget to afford vintage.

Ive quit kraken and this is a good example why. $2000 can get most of some of the best cards in the set. VS breaking and getting Nothing for $2000
