    They are a great label with some classics. Serpico is such a classic with the amazing al Pacino. Night of the creeps is such a fun movie so much rewatch value. Cujo also amazing and such a great edition. Love your editing in your vids. Great 👍

    Greetings from the UK. Really enjoy the videos from you both. I'm a fan of the Masters of Cinema label. I can wholeheartedly recommend the Dr Mabuse films, and also Computer Chess, Two Lane Blacktop, Touch of Evil, Le Pont du Nord, Metropolis, The Old Dark House, Frau Im Mond and Man With A Movie Camera. Looking forward to your next video. Best wishes.

      Hey Steve! We're glad you enjoy our videos, it means a lot. Cheers for the suggestions, I haven't heard of a lot of those. Two Lane Blacktop and Touch of Evil have been on my watchlist for a long time now, as has Metropolis. I'll look into the others you mentioned for sure, thanks again for taking the time to suggest us some films!

    I have a few Eureka special editions in my collection and they have really nice packaging,check out the African queen and a fistful of dynamite as they have cool slips.I have recently started collecting the 101 black label films which have nice packaging too. The bonus for me living in the uk I get next day delivery from Eureka 😁👍

      Hadn't heard of The African Queen before but I looked it up and it sounds really interesting. Definitely want to grab A Fistful of Dynamite at some point but I think Sarah and I may have missed out on the limited edition set of it unfortunately 😞 And yeah I've seen some of those Black Label releases, wouldn't mind grabbing one at some point - I think they recently announced an edition of Phase IV? If so I'll hopefully get that one. And very jealous of next day delivery but I'm still thankful that Eureka offer free worldwide shipping when ordering direct! Cheers for watching Dave 😀

    Great video, mate. Eureka is one of my favourite boutique labels, and quite affordable given the AUS-GBP exchange rate. I recommend the "Fuller at Fox" box set by Eureka if you're looking for a good education on a really ahead-of-their-time filmmaker. It's limited to only 2k copies so I'd hurry if interested. Can't recommend it enough though. It's got a Western, 2 War Films, and 2 Noirs.
    Keep up the good work.

      Yeah that 'Fuller at Fox' set looks so good, I'll definitely grab that one if it doesn't sell out sometime soon. I was really interested in it during their last sale but we opted for a few other releases instead. Would be particularly interested in the noir films, I need to watch more of those. Thanks a lot for watching and cheers for the compliment! :)

    Great collection, Cujo also scared me when I was growing up, I love Night of the creeps but have the Umbrella release of that, I am thinking of getting the Eureka one but I believe its the same print of the movie, I only have a few of there films, Cujo, Project A boxset and Fright night, I am also thinking of branching out and picking up some of there War films and Westerns.

    I'm not familiar with this label, as I don't own anything from Eureka.....But, I love the name. Apart from Night of the Creeps and Cujo, I havn't seen any of the other movies. Night of the Creeps is awesome, I love how different genre's are blended into the movie. Cujo is awesome and I love the cover art on that release. Nice collection, Matt.

      Haha yeah I like name too. And that's fair, with the exception of some titles, a decent number of these I only found out about through collecting the label. It's always good when a distributor brings attention to a movie I hadn't heard about before. Agreed, Night of the Creeps and Cujo are both great fun and are good films, glad to have them in the collection. Thanks for watching Andrew!

    I don't have any of Eureka's in my collection (I mostly stick to Region A except where the movie is not available). I love M - Fritz Lang's direction and Peter Lorre's iconic performance make this a classic. Repo Man is fantastic for the reasons you mention and I love the ending. I'm not a big fan of silent cinema (I try) but I do love Nosferatu. Silent Running is wonderful ecological science fiction. Huey, Dewie, and Louis were clear forerunners to R2-D2. I'm sorry it didn't age well. I remember enjoying Rumblefish and Serpico. I need to see Onibaba and Harakiri. Thrill me! I love Night of the Creeps and enjoy Cujo. Thanks for the video.

    • @amateurfilmies8844
      @amateurfilmies8844  4 роки тому +1

      That's fair, I know that a decent number of the Eureka films have region A counterparts such as through Criterion or even Scream Factory at times (I'm pretty sure at least). Agree, Fritz Lang's direction was masterful and Peter Lorre's performance was fantastic. I love the ending of Repo Man, it's wonderfully whacky and super memorable. And don't worry, I've seen barely any silent films but I am interested in venturing into that film category more - hopefully starting with Nosferatu and some Chaplin movies! And even though Silent Running didn't age the best at times, I think it had great charm in a lot of ways and will definitely enjoy re-watching it in the future. Thanks for watching Marc!

    I watched Repo Man on the weekend and it really wasn't what I expected, but I like hows the film exists in its own universe. I think Eureka missed the mark with the cover design, but I'm sure the edition is excellent. I don't own many of their releases, but I get sent pre-production discs to review, which is very convenient, and they come with a press release and zip fold full of assets and all the images I might need. Onibaba looks really interesting and speaking of Asian horror, I highly recommend Mr. Vampire from Hong Kong.

      I had the same thoughts about Repo Man when I first watched it, it’s definitely a strange one. That’s sick that you get sent those, you must have your hands full with your watchlist. Watch Onibaba when you get the chance, it’s such an atmospheric thriller. Thanks for the recommendation, I’ll investigate Mr. Vampire. Thanks very much for watching as always 😊

      @@amateurfilmies8844 No worries! I'm actually almost done with my Eureka screeners, I just have the Bela Lugosi / Edgar Allan Poe Triple to watch. Their press discs probably cost them next to nothing to make, but it's cool to seem the movie in advance.

    Love the Masters of Cinema series, have 66 titles at the moment. They especially excel in the restoration of silent films, hope they dig up some more.
    As far as essentials from the series, my personal top 10 releases (you havent mentioned) would be:
    1. Buster Keaton set: The General, Sherlock Jr and Steamboat Bill Jr.
    2. Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans
    3. The Passion of Joan of Arc
    4. Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari
    5. Intolerance: Love's Struggle Throughout the Ages
    6. The Thief of Bagdad
    7. Man With a Movie Camera
    8. Cleopatra
    9. Die Nibelungen
    10. Touch of Evil

      Hey there! 66 titles is a great collection, I really want to get more of them because they're such a great label.
      Thanks for taking the time to do a top 10 list as you've given me a lot to look into the next time I purchase from them. I've heard a lot of positive things about Sunrise and Die Nibelungen in particular. I'm super new to Buster Keaton but have been meaning to get around to watching some of his films for ages now. I think of the ones you've listed Touch of Evil sounds the most up my alley based on the plot but I'm keen to eventually watch all of these.
      Thanks again for taking the time to comment and to watch, I really appreciate it!

    Hi, i’m Pretty new to master of Cinema, so i only have Two. “Man With A Movie Camera” and “The Passion Of Joan Of Arc”. Where do you recommend to start? Should i watch Them in The order of The spine Numbers, or should i just watch what i want.
    But great video :)

    • @amateurfilmies8844
      @amateurfilmies8844  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Lukas! I don't own those two that you have but I've heard fantastic things about them. As far as how to approach collecting them, I'd just watch pick and choose whatever is most appealing to you. There's no tying theme between the spine numbers and they're mostly only relevant to people who want to collect every release that they've ever put out. I don't think we'll ever own every release from a company (closest we'll get is probably Arrow) but yeah, I'd definitely just look through their catalogue and pick out the ones that interest you the most, don't worry about the spine numbers. Hope that helps! Cheers for watching mate!

      Yeah I have seen that new label, I actually quite like the design that they're going with. Sarah and I will definitely look more into the label, I hope it works out for them because it'll be good to have another distribution company in Australia. And I feel you, I like the idea of spine numbers but I can never keep up. I've got a lot of the 88 Films Italian movies for example but there's one or two that would require me to double dip since I already own it (Cat in the Brain for example) and I try to avoid doing that if possible. Thanks for watching, hope you enjoy the movies when you get them!

    Hi guys!! Hope everyones well. Really love your collection! For me, being from the U.K. i treat Masters of Cinema a bit like Criterion meaning i wanna try an collect them all I've got about 60ish at the moment. But i know if i lived where Criterion or Barnes n Noble would deliver id probably just collect them.

      @amateurfilmies8844  4 роки тому

      Hey Nathan, we're great, hope you're well too! 60 releases is an incredible collection, good job. Do you order them by spine number or some other means? I think the Masters of Cinema line are definitely comparable to Criterion, the quality of the releases is excellent. Generally if I know a film is released by both Criterion and Eureka, I'll usually grab the Eureka edition because they're often similar in quality but at a much more affordable price. Just depends on availability and if there's a decent sale going on haha. If Sarah and I lived near a Barnes & Noble we'd be broke haha. Cheers for watching Nathan! 😀
