The La Verkin Cross Creek story sounds like my story from 1970-71. I was in a facility like that for 6 months. Can’t imagine how it would have been to be there for a year or longer. I hope things have improved for troubled kids during the last 54 years.

Great video! I feel so bad for that guy and any other kids that got sent to that horrible place. They should be prosecuted for tourturing those kids. Plus his Aunt and Uncle should be ashamed of themselves. They are both POS! He had just lost his Mom and everybody gave up on him. I hate that those AH's at that place put blame on him for his Mom's death. That is absolutely sickening! Not that it would have mattered, but he wasn't acting out before she had the accident. I think those that told him she had the car crash because of him are even worse than those abusers that hit him and stuff. Oh man I could go on and on about all the things that was disgusting and the worry I have for any children those abusers have and so much more, but I've gone on too long already. I just hope the guy from this story was able to have a close relationship with his brother.

My facility has a renovation due to the vigilance of concerned whistleblowers who cared about the kids.
I understand those semi-draconian policies from 50+ years ago are out, that it’s more humane and productive now. We can only hope can’t we?

1st story, is different... and excellent!
Also the first story, when I lost my best friend and my dad, I became the same way, I’d try and fight with everyone and anyone that was near by, I’d never been like that, but I legit just like died inside myself, I wanted to fight and beat someone up and get beaten up myself, I was so angry. I finally got through that phase, but not substituted with anything better, trust me, I just became more isolated and shut down, and quietly destroyed myself with drugs.

The first story is 100% true I was in a place call Carolina springs academy in South Carolina from 2006 to 2008. The seminar was the worst they called it “ discovery”. When the op said that the staff said it was his fault his mother died I remembered something similar. There was a girl in discovery seminar that shared a story of her mother overdosing and that she had attempted cpr on her but sadly she passed, right after that the man in charge of the seminar said “how many dead bodies have you touched” the girl broke down. Never send your children to these facilities these programs are inhuman and hurt more than heal

How schools like these even exist is beyond me. How are/were these not active crime scenes? Reminds me of Philip Zimbardo’s Stanford prison experiment on steroids but unending instead of a planned 2 weeks cut down to 6 days. So messed up. Implying you were responsible for your mom’s death made them scummier than they already were. Good for you, OP. So impressive.

Zach leak he's no longer here with us. R.i.p. he is a victim to this utah school. He said it was the worst 2 yrs of his life he ended up escaping stranded for 3 weeks until he hit the first town out. He told his parents everything what their doing out there. They are wealthy known people. Let's just say after everything he said back in 08 they sued the school. The abuse is cruel poor kids. Zach ended up having major drug addiction in and out of prison. He was sexually abused beaten down. He said he did nothing right not Eben keeping his head down. Makes me so sad hearing this. I couldn't imagine doing this to our son. Yes we have a son together my son has behavioral issues but we talk about everything I explain to him how he needs to survive if he's angry get into fighting not streets but his martial arts. It has truly helped him so much. He's changed alot with being honest with him. I told him how his dad died he had a drug overdose. I told him how he was sent to this school and it definitely played into his adult life in not a good way. He only learned to never trust anyone and to pretty much manipulate anyone and everyone. I'm grateful for the beautiful boy he left me. I'm grateful Zach shared with me these stories to know these would nvr be an option. Praying for your kids is better than preying on them. I love you baby boy. Mama will always make sure your taken care of even if I die. You will be knowledgeable you will know how to survive. You will be a wonderful smart man
