I have heard a few things to maybe think about Scott!
First: buy another Ox, speeds up building time. Bought at hitching Post.
Second: If you have people in the storage place, they will cart goods rather than a person carrying one good the cart will carry 10 at a time.

This is Definitely a Day 1 Buy for me!!
If I remember right from another streamer a Corpse pit is for raider and bandit bodies. You could place it right by the entrance to your village, kind of depressing but it sends a message.

If you pick carrots, chickens or goats they do not lose their job. Chickens work great as the provide lots of eggs for food!

The battle Epic it's just like total war
My suggestion for you Scott when you do get to the point of where you get into battle if you've ever played Total War make sure you have archers put those in the back two lines of infantry in the front one in the rear
I choose to watch this over Netflix.
It would be so cool if your character can help the families with doing certain jobs, like making bows and arrows , cutting wood or other activities like leading platoon defending the village, maybe putting that fire on the Rubble house down as a start, not just waching from aside how it's burning to the ground as the poor peaple were trying to save it. :)
