Great video (and music) in illustrating how everything should come together. It's a nice feeling when some of what I'm watching actually happens in practice! It's not so easy on our dry slope here in Wales but one day hopefully it will come together.

This is a very useful demonstration! Thank you!!! I'm yet to see myself not looking like a robot while skiing by keeping my skis close to each other. This demo should do the trick for me this coming Sunday, here in Colorado. :)
Mileage is always great !! I would encourage all skiers to check their personal status on Snow by using cell phone videos and transferred that recording to a larger screen for analysis. @@miromiro hi Miro. My first red and black slopes happen in Bergeralm. These year is a good season to ski for amateur like me. I ski mostly in vorarlberg and sometimes in Tirol.
I thought I was doing a good imitation of the superb Iris until my son showed me a video of myself practising. Note to self: What I think I'm doing and what I'm actually doing are two totally different things! Bummer. My main problem is not getting the inside ski to slide in beside the outside ski. This is resulting in a stance that is far two wide. How do I get these stubborn legs together?
After unweight the ski, try active turn both feet , dont relax inside ski or it will to move around, allways some muscle tension, but outside ski is the boss and allways more pressure there. And just have fun! It takes some time to get in to the zone. Or you can send me video and i cant try to explain where is the catch. miro.mp3@gmail.com
@@miromiro I didn't see that you took the time to reply to this post all those months ago! Thanks! Much appreciated. I'll be sending an e-mail your way in a bit, and it would be just great if you could make a comment or two.
On a run like this i could become a pro in a day..but what we get is a tiny steep run before you get your technique, you find yourself at the bottom of the hill already and long line again..lol
And the slo-mo turn shows the inside ski being forced next to the outside at the end of the turn. There’s a comment on the video that says smooth turns but the skier isn’t doing that. Remember everyone, one smooth motion for each turn. In fact, from one turn to the next as well. Best thing to practice is: always he turning.
See...her skis do not look parabolic to me. She is able to keep her legs closer than shoulder width apart. I learned on straight skis, can't get used to parabolics and can't find straight skis! Help!

No Worries. We may help you with the right exercises to find your perfect position on skis. You will feel save and never fall again!!! I promise! See you in Lech next season :)
for faster progress it is better to take skis 20-25 cm taller. to height 174 - skis 190 - 195 - but better 195 soft classics. It won't be easy in the beginning, as longer skis will force you into perfect technique like Iris. It will be hard for the first 2 weeks.
I tried this but my problem is, my ski tips cross each other when I go into the turn or am slowly coming out of it. What would you recommend to do in order to not crossing the ski tips over? Thnx for the video btw. Ich kann natürlich auch Deutsch ;)
Its all about to have the right position on skis. Steering in a good Alpine Basic Position is the key. Come to Lech and we show you. Thanks for watching.
@@miromiro it seems that the pole plant is no longer important. A little background on me, i began skiing in the late 70's back in the era of the so called straight skis, long before the cap skis and eventually the shaped skis. Back then the pole plant was important because it put your upper body into the correct position to initiate the turn and it helped with rhythm. Bear in mind I haven't skied in over 20+ years and it seems in most the videos of skiing I watch on youtube, the pole plant seems to be a thing of the past.
@@tatkwong216 at beginning focus is more on skis and balance, after getting good feeling next step is building in pole plant. So pole plant is still there. Just for beginners is bit easyer to focus just on skis. But you have point. It is not so big deal anymore at all ski techniques.
@@miromiro thanks, i guess that's the evolution of ski technique now that we have shaped skis. I'm curious to get back into the sport that I loved so much when I was younger and to see how much of what I used to know can be used on these shaped skis. Back in my day, if you wanted to go fast you had to use longer skis. I started on 170, then as an itermediate
Then as I progressed I moved to 190 and eventually topped out at 207's. I'm curious as these new skis are much shorter then I'm used to. How do these new shorter skis not chatter at high speeds. Back in my days, on 170's, the skis would chatter at high speeds, and when that happened the edge would lose contact with the snow thereby causing you to lose control.
Probably because she is also skiing offpiste and you then need a backpack for your safety equipment (shovel and probe) and other useful stuff. The transceiver goes under your jacket, btw :-).

When you are skiing perpendicular to the fall line of the slope, the ski which is closer to the valley is the valley ski
