- The Bosch K-Jetronic CIS Ignition system. Ever wish you had a carburettor? In this video I rebuild the first chunk - the Warm Up Regulator, a small uncomfortable chunk of metal that is key in the performance and starting of the car.
I used k-let specialist in Aus for my WUR replacement that was newly rebuilt and calibrated. If u get the WUR and fuel distributor professionally rebuilt and calibrated and make sure they are the original part #s that came from factory you will be golden for years to come if the car is used. Also new original fuel injectors are probably needed( not the short cheaper Mercedes ones)
Ref the injectors we will see - I have got a set of the Mercedes brass ones already so we'll see what they operate like. My final solution will be professional rebuild if I cannot do it alone. I still have some appetite for the battle..
Great content, very interesting.
Many thanks! this fuel stuff is challenging.
Great insiteful video, i've got a grumble (when warm) with accellerating, after checkng some other things first I may need to delve into this
Got a feeling the fuel distributor will be even more interesting
The tale of 3 fuel distributors is coming...
thought for a second that was the Tricorn on you T shirt..then saw the shard....anyhooo..I was convinced my old Mk1 Astra GTE used K Jetronic, but wiki tells me it was Bosch LE jetronic..
Ha! I would have the t-shirt if they made one, same for the now deceased Colt building in Havant, and the news place which I think is also due for demolition. I despair.
Fortunately it doesn't seem to have been run/stored with fuel containing ethanol.
I'm convinced ethanol destroys the fuel systems on these cars. Do you know if there's hard evidence supporting that theory? I've had three and the only one that runs reliably has never had ethanol fuel in it. I have to drive an hour with gas cans to find non-ethanol fuel but it is worth it.
I plan to use only 5% Premium high octane stuff. Hopefully this mitigates any effects..
