Used the fuel transfer device on the AT this year and rarely had to buy fuel. There were always partial fuel canisters at the hostels that I could refill with.
Yes! I think that is SUCH and underrated use for this thing. Glad to hear it.
The Grayl stove is the same as the BRS-3000T stove. I bought my BRS-3000T stove on Amazon for under $15 a few years ago, now they are just under $17. Grayl Grayl got their stoves from the same chinese manufacturer, had their name put on them and marked up the price.
Something about the Helinox Chair Zero, if you want to save $50 go with the Chair One. The weight difference is only like half a pound and it's basically the same chair. Worth it for the savings, IMO.
I used an Arcade belt on my last few day hikes. It sort of makes any pants or shorts feel like they have elastic waistbands. I never buy anything with elastic waistbands but I have to admit the Arcade was definitely the best belt choice I have found in my limited experience.
Glad to hear it! I didn't think it would make much difference. And then I used it. Love the thing.
From a fellow coffee aficionado who’s been going through it finding good camp coffee options I think it would be super cool for you to do a camp coffee video. What are your thoughts: aeropress & pack out grounds - is it worth it? Good instant options? Favorite creamer to carry?
Great job on the Christmas gifts, TY!☃️
those flashing lights were messing with my eyes 🤣
the delirium puts you in the holiday spirit!
Good suggestions Eric. Just bought the flip fuel. Great solution. Thanks for the heads up:)
Thanks, Eric - some awesome ideas in here. Appreciate you putting this together. Happy Thanksgiving.
Glad to hear it. Happy Thanksgiving to you!
great video, thank you!
I just came back from an overnight in temps down into the teens and used my UCO cup. The con regarding heat that you mentioned is also a pro in that as the heat escapes from the sides, it warms up your hands as they wrap around your hot beverage of choice. I found the volume of drink is fairly low, so I consume it before it gets too cool and it warmed up my hands.....super comforting on a cold evening or morning!
well that's a great point! Warm them hands up!
Helinox Chair Zero user for years…great for backpacking/camping, or when you have to stand in line for a long period of time, or when you’re out walking the dog and the booger wants to take an extended break for no reason😉😆. Basically, the chair is worth the investment! Aeros pillow is awesome, add a buff as a pillow cover. Darn Tough guarantee can not be beat. Those that know will not be bummed you gave socks.
Great gift ideas. Thank you 🙏
Glad it's helpful!
Great video
Thanks for recommendation of the Grand Trunk Swivel Stool. I bought one for plein air sketching and watercolor. Nice height, comfortable and much easier to carry than a camp chair.
Ooh nice use! I love that.
Outstanding gift ideas. Happy Thanksgiving.
right on, happy Thanksgiving to you!
OK I paused after the first item and bought two. One for my husband for hiking and one for my skinny teen. Exactly what they need!!!
Glad to hear it! Hopefully they don't look at the comments here and ruin any surprise.
I'm going to give the fuel transfer device a try. Makes so much sense.
You look great in that Peruvian sweater.
shucks, thank you!
Ty eric!!
Absolutely!
Campingmoon has had those transfer devices for at least 5 years now
Cool. Good to know!
Fun video, Eric!
thank you!
Dude I love that crappy tool, those little ridges can come in handy in so many situations!!
haha so crappy but so useful!
Eric. Thank you for your honest reviews and great videos. Can you share your strategy for base layers? What layering do you typically use for cold weather camping/hiking? What products do you like the best? Which ones do you avoid? Have a great Thanksgiving. Russ
Hey! I'll have a couple videos soon about this exact thing. But I like my All-paca hoodie, then a synthetic hoodie for medium insulation, then a bigger down puffy for when the temps really drop, then a hard shell layer. I'll also bring long johns and maybe some insulated pants for cold trips, as well as rain/snow pants and gaiters. And thanks! You too!
I recommend the sea to summit ultralight spork as a great stocking stuffer.
Nice! I like that one too.
The ugo cup is awesome cut the handle off and when collapsed it fits over my BRS with a small fuel canister inside my titanium cook pot 750ml.
solid. cup doesn't get too hot to hold with a hot bev and no handle?
Man - you and Justin outdoors landing on the same pillow :)
it's a great pillow!
Great items Eric!! I had to google aficionado 😂! Love having items to search and look up 👍 Iv definitely thought about those OV booties, Need booties in my life lol- If someone purchased that alpaca wool hoodie, than I’m definitely a special person in their life 😂 BRO…. You pulled out the “CRAPPY GIFT” pun 😂😂😂😂 love it dude! Another great video 👏👏👏
haha thanks Mike! I enjoy a good pun of course! Gotta keep people on their toes!
@@eric_hanson true that! Hey, have a wonderful Thanksgiving sir. Blessings 🙏
That camp cup used to be 5.00 and was the first cup and measuring cup (yes is has measurements inside for those with good eyesight) my husband and I bought. However we haven't had a need to replace or upgrade.
I have seen that price go up over the years. Must be high demand cuz it's a great cup!
And I just went and told my family no gifts this year! 😫😂 some good ideas here!
haha, well hopefully they ignore that?
@@eric_hanson fingers crossed 🤞
Is it possible to overfill fuel canisters with that transfer device? How do you know when the receiving canister is full? Thanks, love the new channel
Try out the alpaca socks from PAKA they are on another level
I've been looking for a good brand of Alpaca socks. I will definitely check them out.
thanks for the recommendation!
Please explain the temperature thing on the gas transfer, top cold or hot, I thought it was just upside down liquid forced by gas?
I heard @KyleHatesHiking loves chairs. You should totally gift one to him. lmao
haha, hmmm. Sabotage?
😂😂 for us none American metric weights would be handy 😂😂.
yeah, whoops! I meant to include it but I forgot! Sorry!
FYI. There’s no link for the Grayl stove or Helinox Chair Zero in your notes. Thanks for the recommendations!
For some reason UA-cam flagged those links and removed them. I don't know why. Sorry about that!
Does anyone make a flip fuel type device for 1 pound propane tanks?
I obviously don’t take those backpacking but car camping. lol
If it's just for car camping I use a 1 gallon propane tank with the adapter hose to connect stoves and those tanks are easy to refill.
For us big guys, how much weight will the chairs support?
listed at 265 lbs for the chair zero. Chair zero L is 320 supposedly.
Where/how do you carry the chair in your pack? Inside or outside of pack? If inside, where? Also, do you have a video on bear canisters? Hubby and I want to backpack new places but there are no bear boxes so we're trying to figure out best way to carry bear canister. Thanks!
Generally, everything should go inside the pack. Chairs and bear canisters included. The chair are easy as they pack down small. I usually pack it lower in my pack, above my sleeping bag. Bear canisters are tough, but I fit mine in near the top of my pack, usually on it's side.
@@eric_hanson Thank you! Hubby (age 67) and I (age 60-something) discovered backpacking in 2022 and are hooked! We've hiked GC twice and in Yosemite twice. We love watching your videos for ideas and entertainment!
omg, that belt again! lol Are you sponsored by them yet?
haha I'm tryin!
Just a tip the "c' is silent in blanc 😊
hey thanks Mike! I appreciate your support! It means a lot to me. Cheers!
Every time I hear it's made of titanium I think you got to be kidding I'll stick to aluminum
I dunno man...I'm always thinkin' about booty. Actually I might have heard you wrong on that one.
nah you heard correctly
