  • After recently completing a new headliner in the 55, we got busy over the past week and finished restoring all the window regulators, installed new run channels into the doors & quarters, reinstalled all of the polished stainless, added new felt sweeps to the sides, and installed smoked grey tinted glass throughout. In saying that, a big shout out goes to Kraig McIvor of Dominion Glass in Calgary as he came up to Edmonton to lend his talents to the build once again.
Kraig took care of the front and rear glass and glued all of the clips and fasteners into place before locking down all of the stainless trim with a truly perfect fit. I mean...is there a better glazing expert anywhere? One that knows all the nuances of how to perfectly install all of this stainless bright work? And really, he's such a cool dude to have hang out in your shop for half a day! Thanks so much Kraig!!! Love the fit of the glass and the trim. :-)

Thanks. I did the side glass and left the front and rear to Kraig's master skills. Getting the rear trim to lock in can be really challenging, but he made it all go so smoothly. I am really digging the finish on it all. :-)

Thanks bud. This is my legacy build if I can call it that. A keeper car that I plan to put a lot of miles and smiles on. I'd love to get it out to PA someday and visit some friends out east. If so, maybe we can dust a couple black lines down on your favorite street! Cheers and keep up the great work on your 55 gasser BW!

Do you have a video of installing the stainless?

No. I didn't make any tutorial based video of stainless install. All of the side trim is pretty striaght forward using factory fasteners such as the hardware available from Danchuk. The front glass on the 210 or Belair trim has the top stainless piece installed into the rubber before the shield is glued and dropped into place. The side corner trim and lower stainless is then installed with fasteners into the lower cowl and dash areas to secure it up front. After trial fitting to rear to ensure a good fit of the glass, the rear clips are snapped onto the frame in the corresponding spots before the rear glass is glued and lowered into place. We then loosely installed the upper corners, snapped the top stainless into place and then the sides and lower stainless making sure the trim was on the outside edges of the clips prior to pushing it in and snapping onto the retainer clips. Final step was to snug up the nut on the inside of the upper corner joints. I used a pro and was simply a helper because this work is very very particular, as is the correct glue in process of the front and rear glass. Kraig glued in the seals, and then glued the seals to the glass to ensure it was leak proof. I highly recommend seeking out a pro to do these 2 pieces as the 210 and Belair trim can be very tricky to tackle and needs some good experience using the rear clips and front fasteners. Hope that helps.
