Yes they are close so I wouldn’t call this a true mullet. Generally the larger wider tire up front with a 27.5 x skinny out back . Still interesting to see though
yeah I have one, and I'm going to be switching back to it, I was hopeful the new GoPro "Pro" chesty was better, but it does move around alot especially on jumps and drops.
Nice video, I have a roscoe 8 and was thinking about going 29er + at least 2.8 would you know if I can do both tires or will a 29er just fit the front?
Very nice looking trails especially the last one. Looked like a lot of fun. If you had a standard 27.5 wheel on the rear, I think you would have noticed more of a difference.
Mullets work well on hard pack or gravel, but help with climbing because of the lower rotating mass. The rear tire volume gives you just enough suspension, lots of grip. The slacker geometry helps, but it works better for taller riders. I find 2.8s too heavy, too draggy. 2.3 29er/2.5 27.5.
Miss that dudes voice such a character !!! Crazy how many Roscoe bikes I see on the trail now days. Tell me that is not yur frame size sticker still on?
umm yeah it is still my frame size sticker haha! I have them on both my bikes still lol and yeah I miss riding with Jinder as well, he's just so busy these days
It feels pretty much the same, and no the front rim is a bontrager line30 29” rim, look back in my video library I have a video about converting the bike to 29s back in the spring
Hi. Just found your channel, great content! Subbed! Just got a roscoe for general riding and trail fun, instead of a new fullsus (mainly due to maintainace and costs). I got a demo roscoe 7 pretty cheap, but the fork really sucks.. Which I knew. Been riding a good specced Scott spark 2014 until now. Just wonder: since you have been riding this bike for a while, which fork do you recommend? And still 120mm travel, or go for more? Thanks!
My Roscoe 7 is the first gen. So a truly sucky fork. Fortunately for me it started leaking like a sieve right away and SRAM replaced it. Closest replacement they had that was exact was a Reba RL. It bloody rocks. So, there is that. I’ve added a MRP Ramp cartridge and a lockout.
Smaller wheel in the back is all about scrub radius and force vectoring in the turns. You won't see much of a difference unless you've got the proper frame geometry designed for the smaller wheel, and running a proper 27.5. A properly setup mullet will carve the turns, and have better control. Check out the Technology page at Mullet Cycles dot com.
Toogy Howser MTB I live in the US but travel to Canada sometimes for work . We stay in Woodstock and Cambridge which I think is close to Kitchener. I’ll have to check out these trails next time I’m in. Great vids btw
Cool video. 👍
Thanks man!
I love the hydro cut
Pretty awesome place!
Like my grand pappy always said, it's not a party til someone eats dirt. I'm jealous of all that shade!
haha, I have a party almost every time I'm out haha
@@ToogyHowser 🤣
Lol get the f outta the way tree!
Welcome back Jinder😁
Ohhhhh a local rider. Cool! I’m subbed now
Got roscoe7 2021 gunna do 29 2.6f 27.5 2.5r
Awesome, am doin this to my Roscoe7 soon. Mullet Roscoe 7 :D
Nice!
So glad to see muddy paws has packed in since we built it. I haven’t even been out since the build day.
It's awesome!
A 27.5+ tire measures 29 inches

Trek Roscoe 8 2020 needed
I'd love to be able to demo one soon!
Jinderrrrrr
Buy him a beer, feed him donuts. Do whatever it takes to keep him around.
Word!
Looks like a really fun trail. That's what I like, with lots of actual pedal time with punchy climbs.
Specs of the front rim please.. Im planning to mullet my Roscoe 7..
Bontrager Line 30 wheel
How does the mullet climb?
Seems about the same as the 29er setup, so pretty good!
Looks like a tail some Michigan boys may need to visit.
yeah man, it's probably the best trail system that's around an hour drive to get to for me
Jinder yelling in the distance sounded like the basement scene in The Blair Witch Project
oh no! haha
I missed your friend, he’s funny sometimes. Keep your feet 🦶 on the pedals! Good job!
Yeah it was nice riding with him again!
Nice! Good to see you out on the Roscoe. I still love riding my Marlin. Nice change from full squish. Trail looked fun boss. Keep up the good vids. 👍
Yeah I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for the Roscoe!
You think my Kona Fire mountain 2015 handle the Hydrocut?
Easily!
@@ToogyHowser if my bike breaks I'm blaming.you hehe
I wonder if it makes more sense to put a 29er on the rear since it's a hardtail.
Tin Man nah cuz the 27 plus acts as the rear suspension it doesn’t have
Did the same with my krampus. Love it in that form. Thou you need to atleast try a 29x 2.6 on the front in mullet form!
Yeah I should try and get a 2.6 for the front that would be sweet!
I'd check out the stuntman chesty. Really stays in place well.
yeah I have one, and I'm going to be switching back to it, I was hopeful the new GoPro "Pro" chesty was better, but it does move around alot especially on jumps and drops.
Nice video, I have a roscoe 8 and was thinking about going 29er + at least 2.8 would you know if I can do both tires or will a 29er just fit the front?
29x2.4 will fit both front and rear!
Very nice looking trails especially the last one. Looked like a lot of fun. If you had a standard 27.5 wheel on the rear, I think you would have noticed more of a difference.
Yeah the last trail was super fun!

Yeah I can see that!
Nice video man, as always. I’m camping out at Buckwallow right now, would love to ride with you one day!
Yeah man! Buckwallow is awesome! Would be great to ride with you!
What tire did you use upfront? Meaning dimensions as you are using a normal 29er rim?
It’s a 29x2.4 bontrager xr3

If you want to up your endurance, buy a road bike and clock between 50-100k a week. You will be surprised how fast your endurance level goes up.
Awesome vid! Are you going to do anymore upgrades to the Roscoe? Maybe a 140-150mm fork?
Probably nothing major unless I come across a killer deal, the 130mm fork seems perfect for it
Toogy needs to go back to the hard tail. Being way over biked in Ontario leads to bad habits and less progression....
How does it handle over all ?
Does it feel strange ? Same rim with a 29 tire?
It feels pretty much the same, and no the front rim is a bontrager line30 29” rim, look back in my video library I have a video about converting the bike to 29s back in the spring
Cool vid man! Thought about trying this on my Roscoe as well. What stem reach and bar rise have you upgraded to?
Running a 50mm stem and 30mm rise 785mm bars
How can anyone stand that hub noise. Try stealth mode Toogy, when you can hear the bike.
Cool trails?
Hey toogy! Quick question- do you think I could run 2.6s on the roscoe? Thanks
Probably but if you mean 27.5x2.6 the bottom bracket might be too low
@@ToogyHowser Alright. I was mainly worried about rim width, the bb wouldn't bother me because It raised when I put on a higher travel fork. Thanks.

Any air fork would be good, I’d look for at least 130/140mm but wouldn’t go much more than that as it will throw off the geometry too much

After all the wheel changes since you got the Roscoe would it be fair to say that there is really not a big difference from the original wheels?
There are differences but at the end of the day it’s just my bike
Have you noticed any difference with the 29 in the front since this video?
hard to say, I switch the bike all the time, from full 29 setup, to full 27.5+ setup or mullet, depending on the trail and what I feel like doing

What the hell state is this. . .? Difficult to know where you are riding, nice vid though!
Sorry man. The hydrocut is in Kitchener Ontario Canada. Need to remember that not everyone know where it is :)
This is were I fell in love with mountain biking... back in ‘04
