I’ve “mulleted” my Remedy 9.8 (27”) one year ago: best decision ever. Almost same performance when going uphill but man, when goin’ downhill…😈 More stable, much better in rock gardens and roots and same spicy jumping. Better investment ever!
I had a mullet Remedy 9.8 too! Cracking bike that. I was also running a shortened DHX2 (I spun the body down in the lathe to take it from a 200x57mm to a 190x57mm) awesome setup!
I have a stock 27.5 trail bike and "I think it lacks a something special",then my friend suggested that I should try a mullet set up on my trail bike since then a try mullet and it was so something that i can't explain when ripping the trails and it was so awesome...😎😎😎
i have 27. 5 frame with 160mm fork travel, i dont know the rear shock travel it just said 216x64, is it ok to mullet 29 front with added 10mm more travel 170mm?
Running a custom 96r for a long time. The untold benefit is the back wheel tucked up a bit for better traction and lower center of gravity . Rails better .
Good day I have just brought a 26" L full sus frame. I want to build a mullet setup. I was thinking of getting a 27.5" front fork, but after seeing that you managed to fit a 27.5" wheel on a 26" fork, is that the best front fork idea or whats your recommendation since you've ridden that setup for a while now?
I just checked for a potential next bike if you have a stock 27.5-29 pre-mulleted bike, usually (check to be sure) you can change the rear wheel to 29 as the frame is usually 29" sized overall, you could also of course go both 27.5" surprisingly in both cases it has the same effect it will increase the head tube and seat tube angle by a small degree (in my case +0.8°) which will slightly tilt the handlebar forward and make the fork "more vertical" by a little this can be compensated by "raising" the front fork but don't ask me how I'm in the learning process on mtb a german site called bike-stats has a geometry calculator so you can see how it will change your bike, you will need the full geometry detail for your bike tough might be a problem for old or custom bikes
it has one major downside if you reduce both wheels to 27.5 your bottom bracket (axis of pedaling levers) will lower in my case -6.6mm on the other hand if you put both 29 instead it rises by almost the same high +6.7mm lower BB means more pedal strikes
I´d absolutely love to mullet my current bike. I currently run a 2020 giant reign 29 and on paper with the calculations the geo in terms of reach, head angle and stack would be exactly what I love. So the only downside would be that the seattube angle would be at 75.4 and the BB height would be at 332.44. Seat angle would be fine like that, just not optimal. The BB at 332.44 would be the biggest downside. I had a downhiller with a 339 BB height before and it was problematic sometimes however I do run a bit shorter cranks on the giant so according to calculations it would be fine. Anyone have some advice or knowledge if it would work?
@@bikeradar In the meantime, how would you describe the difference between a 79er mullet and a 67er mullet especially given similar suspension travel such as the Cannondale Habit and Enduro SX?
How have you modified your bike? 👇

How long fork travel did you set?
I have a carbon nomad 2014 26"and im convinced that i should mulletize it even more so after i saw the video.

Pleased to hear it! Glad you're enjoying the mullet life 🤘
@@willsoffe yeah the feeling is smooth and playful on trails even when cornering it's so just ahhh so good...
Just bought a specialized Status frame. Set up to be a mullet from the factory.
Cracking bikes them, great for bike parks 🙌

i have a orbea rise m20 2023... i would like to go mullet... i know i need to change the rear shock, but could i keep the forks???
What did you end up at for head angle after the fox 40?
Will try it on my next bike

Sounds like a super-mullet setup 29/26: Wild!!!

I have an xc bike build but I ride it aggressively, could I still use the mullet set up?
How about on XC hard tail frame? 27.5 or 26er
You have great flow style
Thanks David, really appreciate the compliment 🙌

If i have a mullet bike can i change a wheel to make them the same dimensions?

Just do it.
I dont think the suspension kinematic work well by the overstroked cannondale
Next up: Micro Mullet 26/24 setup.
Well keen for this! A Remy Morton style chainless build with 26/24 is on my wish-list for sure!

this week on bike radar, a guy goes on about how great his bike set ups are and why you should try a similar set up on yours...lolz
