Hi Lainie. Happy New Year, and welcome back! This song certainly has the Nilsson sound, doesn't it? I think it was from a film, but I can't remember the title. Maybe with Ringo Starr? I became hooked on early Nilsson with his film "The Point," the accompanying album, and the song "Me And My Arrow."" Unsurprisingly, none of my friends shared that musical taste. LOL
nilsson did a movie called "son of dracula' its awful .

one of my favorite nilsson tunes - that baseline ! ( is it double tracked using a plastic or nylon string bass guitar this was popular with nashville guys for a while and it does have the country feel you were on about)i covered this and took more vocal tracks than any other recording i ever did and gave up . this song has a definate lsd feel to it . he developed the point on lsd by the way . nilsson did a lot of cocaine , he was using it non stop along with drinking brandy and smoking . it ruined him . he was 52 . now this guy also knew suffering he did not have an easy come up . that is all extremely evident in his music . the thing about harry isnt his magical extra vocal chords , his 9 octave range , his vibrato , song writing chops , humility , its just his personality . there are few artists who can channel who they really are as a soul thru their music . his is what made his so special . refusing to promote himself , not performing live , never doing interviews , dropping a single that has the f bomb in it ( the radio would never play it) all that stuff was not the wise thing to do as far as career and making money . this is what made him so great , he was completely above all that bullshit . for harry it was just about one thing - making music . what he did is completely unique . no one can touch him . his music turns me on like a faucet . he was the best . the beatles stood in harrys shadow . he wrote this song while he was tripping , on a train with a full moon on a rainy , windy night . perhaps it was all in his mind . he was definately tripping tho . trust me . dont do drugs . rip harry nilsson - 52 - way too young .
