Such fantastic updates - for someone dog tired to be so upbeat is outstanding - I hope you get a break tonight before ‘Thanos’ (should be named that anyway)
Alex is thanking us for watching his herculean efforts whilst we sit warm in front of our laptops, desktops & phones. No, no, no Alex - it's us who are really thanking you (and your competitors) for making such compelling viewing. Good luck !
The last four years flew by, but once again we’re cheering you on from Australia , Alex! Thanks so much for these videos - they’re as inspiring as they are entertaining, and we’ll keep following you until you’re over the finish line...in first place this time. You got this mate!
God how awesome...what a great upload. Loved the head up through the cockpit...4 miles at sea level would be out of sight, but it looks so close on the map. Alex you are in a great postion. So proud of what you are doing. Safe sailing everyone...
Great to see you looking so good and positive, although obviously tired. Your plan seems to be working, 2nd place and going well. Thank you for the fantastic insight and detail of the race. Stay well and travel safely.
Holy cow I’m glued to this. Way to punch through that difficult weather front and end up ahead. Bravo. Go Alex! I hope you are able to get some sleep on the downwind run.
A few years ago I crewed in similar conditions through Biscay on SV Fiona with captain Eric Forsyth, what an adventure that was ! Keep safe Alex, it’s a long race, try not to break the boat 🥴. Fair winds young man 👍 Chesh.
You're the best 👌👌im happy for you... Warrior 💪💪I am French and my husband is Portuguese but we support you and hope that you will win ... It is a pity that the French media hardly ever talk about you but force to you .... My husband has the ocean in the blood and he fully supports you ..
Alex, you have changed the sport of offshore racing forever. You deserve all good things. Keep pressing, but not too much. Keep the rig up and the keel canted. Sail Fast!
I woke up in the middle of the night, checked the hub and the waves were around 5 meters at that time. I then got tucked up into my nice cozy warm bed and realised that it takes a special type of person like Alex to put themselves through this most extreme endurance challenge. I say challenge and not race because I feel that it's more a challenge to overcome exhaustion, isolation, mechanical failures and nature in an environment that humans are not built for. We all dream of adventure but dreaming is very easy in the confines of a warm comfortable home. Hopefully one day I will get the opportunity to go sailing and pop my yachting cherry lol.
I'm not a sailor at all so I know nothing, but this is just such an extreme thing to do it's engrossing! Following you on the hub, big gains today well done mate. Gotta get some rest somehow, can't be good to have your heart rate over 100 for an entire day. Fair winds! (Sailors say that right?!)
It looks like there should be a grab handle molded in to the top of that winch pedestal. It would make it much easier to steady oneself and hang on in rough conditions.
Great updates! Well done and super interesting to follow you! Curious to learn what software you use to produce these videos including switching between cameras so smoothly.
Amazing job Alex. FYI, on Sailing Anarchy your new name is Voldemort /or, He Who Shall Not Be Named, because various were getting cheesed off that all the comment were about Hugo Boss/You - love it. Also theory doing the rounds that you are actually hold up in a black shed/sound studio i.e. like a faked moon landing sound stage! Love it. God speed amigo!
Thank you very much for all the updates in english. Very sad that only Boris and you are streaming regulary. In comparison to the last ocean race the broadcast is dissapointing.
I don't think a childish person would manage to steer an offshore racing boat to 3rd and 2nd place respectively, but you're right that he uses some childish terms and phrases, which is something we all like!
How does someone psychologically prepare for an experience like this? High adrenaline, low sleep levels, loneliness, low visibility at night with high seas, high anxiety ...
Alex if you could manage to stand very still in your cockpit while doing these interviews everyone would think what a cool funky hobby room you have in your basement 😀
Hugo Boss, Hugo Boss this is Enterprise, Enterprise over Go ahead Enterprise this is Hugo Boss Hugo Boss, Enterprise. You are aware you have left the stratosphere and in deep space 9? Enterprise, Hugo Boss. Bloody hell thought it had gone dark.
Alex has managed to take basement quarantine to the high seas
Self-isolating at home... ;)
Thank you Alex! Your voice is so clear and no noise from the boat, wind, water. Amazing.
Such fantastic updates - for someone dog tired to be so upbeat is outstanding - I hope you get a break tonight before ‘Thanos’ (should be named that anyway)

Thank you indeed! You get some of those panic reactive glasses that go black for when you have 7m waves in daylight. 😀

This is why we all love you Alex - you're still childish and brilliant :)

Enterprise, Hugo Boss. Bloody hell thought it had gone dark.

So tired that you need written instructions to tack. My goodness ! Few concurrents will confess that so casually.
No sleep yet ;D
