I own supermarkets. Fact is branded products come with low margins comapred to new brands. Even if u buy from B2B wholesalers like metro who buy directly from brands and sell to retailers by keeping 6 to 8% margins the margins are always between 10 to 16% and some items at 20 to 30% depending on the promo offers.
Also staples carry more margins than branded fmcg. Minimum 20 to 25% is the margin in staples
