Hmm..tried to follow this tutorial but I get "Substrate is not enabled" message when I hit apply. When I enable all three substrate-related options from the Project Settings, the material node just changes to well, 'substrate mode'.
Hi great and simple tutorial! One question- if I were to put an object or a person behind this glass and point a light at them, would it cast a shadow on the glass from the back? I want to create a silhouette effect with people walking behind a glass wall, but in all the frosted glass tutorials I’ve seen, the light just passes through and does not cast a shadow. Thank you!
Make sure your frosted glass material is set to Translucency, not Opaque, and enable Translucent Shadows in the material editor. For lighting, use a directional or spotlight and turn on Cast Translucent Shadows. You can also tweak the Opacity and Roughness to control how clear the silhouette appears behind the glass! Hope it helps.
Having a problem with this setup. While it works as is, I have extra settings to allow my master material to be able to use an opacity texture, and within those settings, lets you change the tint of the opacity if you want. However, when I add those opacity settings to the output of the SceneTexture node, tints no longer work and the only thing that shows is the frosted effect. Any clue why that is?
Thanks man! Very helpful
Thanks!
no bullshit straight to the point tutorial TY so much
Welcome!
