  • I see Buell get some heat from now and then, but the people who own them usually love them and these few issues are livable and make it have its own personality, well the second one, the first and last points are just a little disappointing.

My xb12x the seat cracked the harness connector on my ecm. It still works but if pressure applied it kills the fuel pump. I moved the ecm between fuse box and battery. Did have to replace voltage regulator because blowing headlight bulbs. What part can't you find? Most Harley dealers don't work on bikes older than 10 years anyways. The fuel pump is same as a mustang. Bill Melvin new owner of Buell owns the rights. Mine handles great above 17 mph. But I am in sport riding position not super sport position. And have handle bars not clip ons.

I have no problems with handling at low speed, lil bit of counter steer and she goes where I look. If you feel you need to "muscle it", you're doing it wrong. Most likely your posture is off, do not rest your weight on your arms, and pull yourself up against the tank like you're makin love to it.
Edit to add: I'm on an 08 XB12R.

I bought an XB12s 08 last year. man what should i say ...soo much fun this bike its a love and hate... if you have no trouble with it - its fantastic but when the sensors, wiring ..will trick you hate this little beast. This Bike makes you an mechanic over time

Have you considered that your allen wrenches might be low quality? I used to strip hex bolts all the time, but haven’t stripped a single one after switching to Wera Hex-Plus drivers

Never had a problem with my tools before but maybe . But the bolts also don’t seat into the frame correctly either and that’s from day 1.

If your using Allen wrenches, that explains a lot... Most fasteners are torx - t27 to be specific.
Also sounds like a lot of the issues are previous owner/maintenance related....

The wiring is not maintenance related nor is the way it rides.

@@navscycles no, but things like seat bolts where you are ranting about them being location specific /side to side also indicates damaged fasteners - things that rather than fighting - should just be properly repaired.
That and talking about head shake / ride quality etc - this tells me that the suspension is not properly adjusted. The base line settings are published in the owners manual , and based on body weight and riding style. And yes - they are VERY sensitive to being improperly adjusted.
No - they weren't a mass market bike that any one can just jump on and ride at 100% potential
