I have just created a Playlist for ALL you Tutorial Videos. Been adding your videos since an hour ago. Thank you for taking the time out and providing us Beginners with such awesome tutorials.
Great video ! This plane looks amazing. I'm playing a lot with the a320 in the game but this plane looks to have a another level of realism. Can't wait the release and your next videos. ^^
It most certainly has. If you're coming from the default (or FBW) A320 there will be quite a steep learning curve for the 737 but once you have mastered it, it will be a whole new level of simulation!
same, i'm flying mainly with the A320 and it's the one i'm most familiar with i'm still relatively new to the game and i'm looking to start learning the 747 next :)
good afternoon, great tutorial!! Can yo explain to beginners to understand why at 2:50 minutes do you perform *config* on the thrust, what does this give? Is this provided for the Boeing *Omb* or is it just a feature? Is it allowed to do this on a real plane? Thanks)
I came to these videos because I was getting the takeoff config warning on every takeoff. Though you did not explicitedly mention it, I did figure out what it was (might help others): For the PMDG B738 for P3D the manual instructed to arm spoilers for takeoff [and landing, naturally] if I recall correctly, to assist the RTO. I had this procedure down to my subconsciousness. With the video I saw that arming spoilers for takeoff is a thing you don't do in the B737 for MSFS anymore. That got me curious. On my next takeoff I did not arm the spoilers and decided I WILL reject it, to see whether a) that fixed the takeoff config being wrong and b) the spoilers would automatically deploy or if you had to think about it if you reject a takeoff. Lo and behold, no beepings and aircraft DID deploy the spoilers automatically (as indicated by the amber light and outside view) despite not arming them. I was amazed. xD Now I'm super curious... Can you explain the difference as to why it's not done with this model? I assume some extra automatisation? Curious about the "technical" background. This is why study level aircrafts are awesome. Even if you studied a previous version (and different model) in another simulator, once you get another thing (despite both being Boeings) you have to RELEARN some minor things. Other than that, I could just run the flows of the P3D version and it worked on first try. :D I knew about the hidden clickspot for TOGA, but the hidden clickspots for flap settings blew my mind. Good stuff! xD TL;DR: If plane beeps annoyingly and red "takeoff config" light goes on, make sure spoilers are NOT armed, whilst having autobreak on RTO and flaps green lit.
The spoilers are never armed for takeoff in the 737 (and I don't think in other Boeing models either). If any P3D manual mentioned so then it is absolutely wrong.
Thanks for your in-depth and informative demonstration. Couldn’t wait any longer to try this mod out. I was literally dreaming playing this mod last night . How long do I have to wait for it be released 😹😹😹?
@@A330Driver I was thinking of departure not arrival. So the starting procedures while taxiing to the runway. How long to have them running before they are considered ready to be used for takeoff. That sort of stuff. Thanks for all the videos so far. They have been really helpful.
When I perform the engine lever forward before taxi I am constantly getting a TO config warning. 2:48 I'm following the tutorials as closely as possible, taking a lot of notes, but I cannot figure out what's missing. The after takeoff checklist says to have the engine bleeds on. Are they supposed to be off before takeoff? Is that the possible source of the TO config error???
The takeoff config warning primarily checks for the speedbrake, flaps, trim and parking brake. A common flight sim error is to arm the speedbrake before takeoff. DON'T do that, else you'll get the takeoff config warning.
Great video as usual so many thanks again. You mentioned a speed limit of 5kn for contaminated surfaces. I guess that means snow and ice but does contaminated mean other stuff too like sand or dirt?
There's one very important word in the flight crew training manual, which basically tells you to be reasonable. If you have any doubt about the speed at which you can taxi, then there is no doubt: Reduce the speed further. Of course you could google the exact definiton of a contaminated surface, but always keep in mind: If you see something you don't like you have the full authority to do something about it. Only because you might legally go 30kt on such a dirty surface it doesn't mean that you have to.
Pardon me for asking so bluntly, and probably asking a very stupid question, but I never noticed that you set your altimeters in these tutorials of yours, and I was sort making a checklist for myself, with your videos as reference. Anyways, I was wondering when you should set your altimeters; before APU Start, before pushback, before taxi, etc.. Thank you for making these videos BTW.
The QNH in those videos was 1013, that's why I never had to set them. According to the book you do it when you're setting up the rest of the EFIS CP. In real life however you usually set it immediately when you get an ATIS or hear ATC giving a new QNH. "Hear QNH? Think: Reset Altimeters"
@@A330Driver EFIS Control Panel? Is that the panel besides the MCP? Or something else entirely. I'm sorry, not quite familiar :p In real life though, when would you acquire/listen to the ATIS? I Expect you would set the EFIS not long after that, when the IRS has aligned?
@@linen8231 The EFIS Control Panel is the one to the left and right of the MCP (the autopilot control panel). The one where you change the settings of your Primary Flight Display and Navigation Display.
@@linen8231 Recording the ATIS is one of the first things you want to do after the safety inspection and electrical powerup. Without the ATIS you won't know which runway is in use and you definitely need this information latest by the time you start programming the FMC.
While taxiing I’m getting a loud beeping noise, and a red message saying takeoff config? After taking off I realized I forgot to set the flaps, could that be why?
LOL YES! The takeoff config alert doesn't come from nothing. Also make sure to use appropriate thrust settings during taxi, with normal taxi thrust settings you should never need so much thrust to trigger the takeoff config warning.
The real 737 FMC doesn't have such an option. We still need to conduct the raim check before the flight. In fact our flight planning system does it for us, we can check it in the flight documents for each particular flight.
You mean PMDGs primary youtube channel? I'm a member of PMDGs tech team, but not actually employed my PMDG. Thus I'm creating those videos as a private person and not as a representative of PMDG. The tech team is kind of the equivalent to the beta team, just that the tech team actually comprises of engineers, pilots and instructors working on the real airplane. But we still do this for free in our spare time and are not employed or paid my PMDG for our work.
Depends, if it's just wet without any indication of being slippery you can use the speeds from the video. If you have a surface that's known to be slippery when wet you should consider reducing your speed.
@@A330Driver It's almost embarrassing but I found this right after I posted my question 😅😅 Now I'm looking desperately for the same Feature on the A320🤣
Few small items, nothing major. I don't think it's going to take them long to fix those few items. I've got a new full flight video coming up (just waiting for it to process the HD version) where I'm flying a brand new beta update on SU9. Stay tuned, I hope it'll be available today.

Is the check list in the Aircraft Documents?
No, PMDG did not include it I'm afraid.
The Boeing checklist can be found in the QRH (Quick Reference Handbook) straight after the index pages.

The speed indicator shows you airspeed which is influenced by wind, which is undesirable for taxi.
