Clearly this dishwasher was designed by someone who has never loaded a dishwasher. There is a lot of wasted space, and I have to run it every day, as opposed to every 2-3 days with my previous dishwasher (in the same footprint). Also, it was very frustrating learning how to set the controls (which I am still trying to learn after owning this model for 6 months.) Even my husband struggles with it, and he is very mechanically inclined. I am trying to like this dishwasher, but to be honest, I hate it. (On a brighter note, I also bought the GE Induction Stove, which I love.)
There was a similar comment above. I do run ours about once a day but we also are a family of 5. I just talked to Mark and I'll make a video about what I do. This is what I told the previous commenter "I basically put all plates and silverware in the lower basket along with larger items. Upper basket is cups, bowls, food storage containers, and 3rd rack holds blender balls, tongs, lids, medicine cups, pizza cutters and larger sharp knives. I usually only do 1 load a day for our family of 5 but hate waste so I make sure it is packed in."
I have this same model and like it. What I didn't realize when I bought it is that it doesn't have the rinse-only cycle (you mention this). I Like to rinse my china and crystal before use, because I don't use those sets very often. What I REALLY do like is how quiet this dishwasher is, best I've ever owned by far.
Hello Dianne -- I have had my eye on the PDT785SYNFS to replace my current dishwasher. The GE dishwashers tend to have a lot of bad reviews from what I've seen. Are you still in love with yours? They have the most features by far -- as long as they hold up for a while. I'm looking for something that is going to last a minimum of 5 years. Because of the reviews, I've been on the fence with GE, and I may sacrifice some of the cool features for a more reliable model. Thoughts?
Same here!. I figure I can get by with that light duty cycle. You can always run it without detergent and stop it whenever you feel like it. It might not be the worst thing in the world to have it dry the dishes after their winced, either. Other than that I must say this thing had everything. I'm working on getting it upstairs at the moment so I don't know how well it's going to clean dishes yet but it deems to be well liked by others.
@@EdFuller The rollers on the bottom rack break often. They will send new ones if you call & complain. What they really need to do is redesign the rollers & how they attach.
Just got this installed today. The bottom rack has wheels on the bottom, but there isn't any track to keep it in line. Is it supposed to move freely, side to side, and back and forth? It is different from what I am accustomed to.
I got this 3 days installed with sound damper properly installed as well, yes it is really quiet and NO the GE Profile doesn't dry dishes, utensils, bowls and cup drier than Whirlpool. The Whirlpool dishwasher I had for 14 years finishes dish washing cycle and thing got drier than GE Profile in 2022...I regretted of not getting Whirlpool dishwasher while in the appliance store!!
After reading the comments, I am concerned that I made a big mistake purchasing model GDT645SYN5FS on 07/03/22. I had an appliance repairman tell me I made a big mistake...and it was over the electronics. I hope it lasts...thank God I am single and only run the dishwasher once every 3 weeks. I do have a question...Is there an indicator as to when to add rinse agent? My old Bosch had an led to indicate it was time to add rinse agent. I did like your review, but would have liked more detailed loading instructions. Thanks for posting this video!!
Great video! I am replacing our GE Profile from 12 years ago (was a suite package when we built our house). I love the GE Profile line, and this is the one I've been looking to purchase as we wanted to stay with the GE Profile line.
We purchased this GE Profile Dishwasher in June and it doesn’t seem to dry the dishes very well even when I use the boost. When I take the dishes out some are still dripping. Any suggestions? I also wait for a full load before washing (with only two in our household this may be a few days) mostly because it takes so long to wash the dishes compared to my last dishwasher, but this presents a problem because when I open the door to add more dishes the smell is awful, it stinks pretty bad. Is this normal? My last dishwasher didn’t smell like that even after waiting a few days to run it. Is anyone else having this problem? Let me know, I’ll be watching for your suggestions. BTW great video!😄
Sounds like it might not be draining completely which could cause the smell and the dishes to still be wet. Do you notice any standing water in the bottom of the dishwasher? If so, check the filter to make sure it's not clogged and if that's not the case, you may want to double-check the drain hose.
We've had some issues with this model -- going on 4 years after installation. We've had to clean the filters regularly after the unit failed to drain more than once (causing an overflow/flood) and also had to to clean the hose. It's also not quiet anymore. Listening to it from the basement (under the unit) where my home office is you can hear what sounds like grinding. I'm a big fan of GE profile products. This is my second set/suite -- complete kitchen set. But, not a fan of this dishwasher or it's predecessor.. Fortunately, we can do a lot of the trouble shooting and repair ourselves and then things work fine, for awhile. I would also mention that the water bottle cleaners are overrated -- in the 2nd/top rack, only small bottles fi -- not what you'd consider normal-size water bottles.
I purchased the Ge profile 45 decibel dishwasher and am wondering if the sound it makes is normal. During the wash cycle when the pump goes on and off it is louder than I would’ve expected with a little bit of a high pitched whine. All the other time it is running it is very quiet. It’s just during the wash when it sounds Ike the pump is going.
Bought a brand new dishwasher, GE, GDT665SGNBB. I installed it myself, (not first time, and I'm a mechanic do a lot myself guy) water is on, elec is on, drain is connected. Ran washer first time. It stopped on its own. (all lights out) It only added water, did some spraying (washing) and then sat. Motor turns on and you can see the water swirling in bottom... I'm sure this is just the drain motor as the door was open and filter was removed upon troubleshooting, but no water enters the sink and the cycle never proceeds. This I know because the soap is still in the unopened dispenser. Where do I start trouble shooting? (I assume the drain area, and what am I looking for?
I have a GE model that just broke after 8 years so I'm looking to buy another GE Profile in keeping with all my GE appliances. What I hated about my GE dishwasher is that little chrome strip around the top! It broke on my current model twice and it's a pretty pricey part to repair. I was hoping they stop using that plastic chrome around the edge. So disappoint to see it's still on the new models.
EXTREMELY disappointed with my GE Profile - First one leaked, second one door control panel failed just outside warranty after pone year - next one will be a Bosch 800 - don't need this unreliability for a key piece of equipment
Are these things so quit it sounds as if the jets aren’t working? I can’t hear anything beyond a faint trickle, leading me to believe it’s not blasting water the way it should be. When I quickly open the door mid cycle the beaters stop in a fraction of a second. I might witness the lower arm turn an inch. Surly I should hear water spraying in there, no? I’m afraid to add dishes, as I do not believe this can clean dishes without hardly making a sound.
I'm not sure in your model but in ours you have to lift the cover next to where the detergent goes and pour it in the tiny hole in the adjustment knob.
I wish you talked about the cleaning the coarse and fine filters (and the sump filter, if any). I know that, in my current GE dishwasher (Triton XL), access to the sump filter and coarse filter is quite difficult.
@@TopHomeowner How about now? I'm about to purchase a new dishwasher and one of the things I care about is how easy it is to clean the filter. My current dishwasher is basically "remove the arm THEN you can access the filter". Which is annoying because removing the arm has to be done with a tool. I'm hoping for something that's literally "reach in and pull it out" levels of easy.
@@ChristmasMorning1995honestly I like the dishwasher… my 2 complaints are - the buttons are so easy to touch… I select and change the wash every time I leave over the door. Not a big deal, just annoying. And the edge finishing piece on the upper right side have popped off… we glued it, not a big deal, but it’s only 2 years old I think that’s way to soon for cosmetic issues. The dishwasher washes well though and has long and quick cycles. Biggest difference in this one and our cheap entry model dishwasher is sound and fancy features like bottle jets and being able to move the racks up and down. I feel like the end result is the same… clean dishes.
Can anyone confirm if the front panel is supposed to change from Washing to Drying to Clean. "Clean" does not display on mine but I do get the notification in the app.
Ours will say clean once done, at least until the door is opened. Our boys are in charge of unloading so I had to get creative when they haven't finished so we don't start loading dirty dishes in with the clean.
Hate mine so much, it causes me to question if I will ever buy a GE product again. The controls buzz and beep but it is hit or miss on getting the thing started. It just took me 4 tries to get the blasted thing to go on.
I placed a heavy plastic cup on bottom and it melted. I noticed there is no bracket that bottom rack fits into. Bottom rack just sits in there. Is this the norm?
Yes, the wheels keep it on the metal ridges at the bottom that keep the rack away from the heating element. I do wash plastic and storage container lids on the bottom rack but I don't turn on the heat to dry normally and haven't had an issue with melting. Sorry to hear about the cup.
Bought this exact model in April, 2021. Paid a PREMIUM for the soundproofing. 16 (+/-) months later THICK pieces of black plastic started sliding out from under the front of the machine. We called the ‘technician’ and he had ‘no idea’ what it was. (It ‘s the plastic soundproofing). I contacted GE…NO help. I contacted the appliance retailer…NO help. Buyer Beware.
I have a GE , not the same model but the pump , spray arm , and heating element are the same . 2 years later IT IS A FIRE HAZARD . Heating element bowed upwards stopping the plastic spray arm from moving , the metal parts underneath the spray arm melted off and did nothing to stop the plastic arm from burning , so don't be fooled into thinking they will prevent a fire . Filled my kitchen up with smoke ' opened the door and saw a small fire on the end of the spray arm , i was able to put it out by dumping a glass of water on it .If you like your house and family STAY AWAY FROM GENERAL ELECTRIC
So I’m guessing every brand has given up on the pre wash cup...wow. Just wow....pre wash detergent is SO crucial to cleaner dishes and a cleaner interior. This is why pacs are an issue...they are more expensive for less bang. Cascade non chlorinated gel costs 5 bucks and I could get a few months worth out of it, using it for both pre and main wash in my Whirlpool powerclean, the classic. It works just as good if not BETTER than the pacs plus you have the convenience of measuring out how much you want. For this dishwasher that no longer bothers to suggest pre wash detergent you’d just need to plop a little gel on the door and in the main wash. The pacs are so not worth the money whatsoever.
this was helpful. a couple of questions 1)how can i get the top rack off? 2) how do I get the bottom sprayer arm off? and how do I clean out the bottle washers? the get plugged up with gunk my model GE PDT750SSF1SS: thank you for any help
With our model we can fully extend and lift making sure the hooks clear the rail wheels. I'm not sure with your model though. As for the bottle jets and sprayer arm it sounds like you may have food cycling through the sprayers, is the dishwasher drain hooked up to a sink drain with a garbage disposal? At our old house we had this issue with our Frigidaire, I would make sure to run the garbage disposal before each load to make sure the line was clean. Otherwise tooth picks were my best friend to help remove particles like corn.
I believe this is the most feature packed Profile model on the market right now: www.geappliances.com/appliance/GE-Profile-Fingerprint-Resistant-Top-Control-with-Stainless-Steel-Interior-Dishwasher-with-Sanitize-Cycle-Twin-Turbo-Dry-Boost-PDT785SYNFS
We recently bought the GE Profile PDT755SYRFS. We love it however I don't know why sometimes we hear it running for a short time and then stops. I called GE Service desk and they couldn't give me an answer which makes me believe that the customer service isn't very good. They can't send a technician because it doesn't happen all the time.
Do you have a video showing how to load this thing? I just got mine installed and can’t seem to get things to fit well without wasting tons of space in the upper rack. (Not 3rd rack/drawer). Things just slip around and I’m at a loss right now.
I haven't but we are making an updated review video so I can see if Mark will add that in. I basically put all plates and silverware in the lower basket along with larger items. Upper basket is cups, bowls, food storage containers, and 3rd rack holds blender balls, tongs, lids, medicine cups, pizza cutters. I usually only do 1 load a day for our family of 5 but hate waste so I make sure it is packed in.
@@TopHomeowner seems silly, but I just got one a couple months ago and based on the configuration of the top drawer, I can’t seem to figure out the most efficient way to load my dishes. Maybe my dishes are just weird shapes, but it’s frustrating seeing a bunch of gaps where nothing seems to fit.
We just purchased the suite of 4 from GE directly. They will give you a better price. Which made us order all 4 pieces came within 1 1/2 weeks. Price includes delivery and install. Only thing is they have to take your old appliances which ours looked new (bought in 2008 GE Profiles then) and was going to give them to my daughter, but that is one of their requirements. Got all 4 pieces to $5090.00 taxes, delivered and set up. We had to install the dishwasher because PA requires you to be a electrician for hardwire. My husband did this. I just love the new features on all the appliances comes with. We purchased the double oven free standing instead of the single oven. Nice presentation you did for all the appliances.
We have had this GE dishwasher for about 3 weeks. At first it seemed to work well. We could press the cycle buttons we wanted to use then press start, close the door and it would work. The last 3 days the dishwasher would not drain, you press the buttons on the door edge and nothing would happen when you tried to select a setting of the dishwasher. We bought this from Lowe’s with the install, carry away the old dishwasher and bought the 5 year warranty. I called GE this morning to have a serviceman come out and see what is going on. I could not talk to a customer service person and had to go through the phone tree with the silicon diode fake person on the other end. Our old 13 year old Sears Elite dish washer worked flawlessly up until a month ago. All I want it to do is wash dishes and not give me any problem.
I had to buy the GE brand because my house ( kitchen remodel ) built before ADA act was passed. No other brand would fit in my opening because it was too small ( 3/4 of an inch ) I wish it came with a quick how- to guide because this is only our second dishwasher in 30 years and it is way to technical ....Had to call my sister to get the what's -what on its operation..
Bought one in June, already broken. Seams much more cheaply made than our last GE dishwasher that lasted till just after the warranty.....Not impressed.
BTW mine is 2.5 years old and for some reason that center lock came on and I had to go to another youtuber to figure out just where to press to get it to come off! I love you guys for helping!
How can you hit the pause or stop button mid wash? The buttons are on top and mine was installed into a built-in cabinet like your video? How the heck can you stop it mid-wash if you need to? Squeeze your finger up top and try to cancel? My previous dishwasher this was easy to do if ever needed since the buttons were located in front.
@@TopHomeowner yeah went to home depot yesterday to look at the model. So walmart is saying it's a normally 1,119 on sale for 599. At home depot is normal just 594. Not on sale not a floor model that's just the normal price. So walmart is trying to scam people into thinking it's a high end model but everywhere else it's a lower end and normally less than 600.
I have this exact model. It has worked great for 2 years. Tonight after the controls got locked... I hit start and close the door. Normally takes a second then indicates it's washing. Nope not now. Idk what happened. Any suggestions on getting it to start? I tried to switch breaker off for 10 minutes. Didn't work
To LOCK/UNLOCK the dishwasher control, depending on the model, press and hold the Dry Boost pad, or the Steam-Sani/Presoak-Sani/Sanitize pads at the same time, for 3 seconds.
@@TopHomeowner I have a portable GE dishwasher and the top completely covers the display when the door is closed. There is no way of seeing how much time is left in the cycle.
I just bought a similar GE model. Unfortunately, the controls are hidden by the countertop when the door is closed. I don’t like that. I’m order to see the controls, the dishwasher can not be installed flush to the cabinets. It sits about 1-2” out and then shifts around because the brackets are not lined up under the counter. This is going to be a huge headache! I’m debating on returning it! And the first wash cycle did not dry the dishes on normal. What good is an Energy Star appliance if it takes extra long to dry the dishes?
@@LilLeo67 I have found that there isn't a dry cycle that has an indicator, but if I let it sit for about 2 hours, my dishes come out dry. This isn't a huge issue since I start the cycle just before I leave for work, but the lack of display is really annoying.
I can't get my GE Profile Dishwasher top rack to go back up. I lowered it because it was easier to get the top unloaded cause the top rack doesn't come out as far as the bottom. Please help!
We purchased this dishwasher and believe it is not working as it should. The previous dishwasher (10yo) we had was okay at drying dishes and plastics. This one has not been good. We noticed that even on the dry boost after the cycle has been complete the dishes aren’t even warm to the touch and the plastics are not even close to dry. We had never used the drying agent, and we started which seemed like it helped a little but, still not that dry and the fact that the dishes aren’t even warm make me wonder if it even works. An appliance person who checked it out said they have made these so “energy efficient” that, they can no longer heat up like they used too… do you find this to be true?
We just had the GE dishwasher PDT715SYN3FS installed by professionals last Weds. So far it does not dry. Any suggestions before I have them come back out to fix?
I came here just for this! Mine I used the first wash just yesterday and it won’t dry, the tub is all wet still and I had to hand dry my dishes, 1000 dollar dishwasher you would think it would dry. I just got off the phone with GE lady told me I have to use a rinse aid every wash? She also said my water might not be hot enough, and then told me to use the steam setting, umm well not sure why any of that is needed and my water was plenty hot for the last dishwasher.
GA Jessamyn. My problem is a little different but d model is d same. Doing pt care on a 90 yr old dat just came from hospital n cant remember how to start it. All d buttons are lit but not going. Im new here n cant find manual. Can you please tell me how to get it goin by using d buttons? Thanks
@@TopHomeowner Awesome to hear! It certainly is a very sharp looking machine, and it also has functionality that no other dishwasher has! That's why I had it at the top of my list as well.
I do like my new profile dishwasher but I loved my Bosch. I came with a detailed picture page of various ways to best load. I can’t get nearly as much in this as the other. The plate tines seem to be for plates 2” thick! I wish I could find best way to load it video!
This is a very good dishwasher. Good quality and excellent performance all round. Only gripe I have is that filling with rinse agent is messy - end up losing as much as you fill because of the tiny hole provided for getting it in there.
We bought a dishwasher a few months ago has ability to connect to Wi-Fi. Some reason we’re not able to connect to the app the dishwasher we have has a tree all the way to the top. I’ve been putting my silverware on there, but it doesn’t work to go for the spoons because they tip over so I’m beginning to use the bottom trays for the silverware. I’m not sure what that very top tray is for then.
... ok... ok.... Intriguing.... I got the stove.... set on getting the matching flat profile vent/ microwave... now this.... I guess we all know where the stimulus $$$$ will be going.... straight to CA's pockets... 🤬
I have a question, I have a GE profile dishwasher and it used to chime when I would push the buttons and now all of a sudden there's no chimes so it doesn't tell me when it's done either with the chime. I'm not sure what button I pushed to stop it but do you have any suggestions on which button I push to get the chimes back on? Thank you in advance.
If you can unplug and plug the dishwasher back in it should reset the sounds and make them work again. If not, you can try pressing and holding the Start button for a few seconds and that should reset it as well.
Had our GE Profile for a little over 3 years. Control panel failed and the machine stopped working. Easy $100 fix. But the last problem we had was the water inlet into the tub unscrewed and flooded the whole kitchen. Thanks GE.
Now I see this! I bought this dishwasher two years ago. Came home this morning to a flooded kitchen. I can see it leaking somewhere near the center of the dishwasher so it may be the issue you have described . This is extremely frustrating because this is the second time I have had a fairly new dishwasher flood my kitchen. The other was a Fridgidaire that the drying coil warped and melted a hole in the tub. Fridgidaire would do nothing, offered me a discount on a new Fidgidaire. Does ANYONE make a decent dishwasher anymore!!!
Add another frustrated owner of a flooded kitchen from a GE Profile dishwasher. It turns out there is a defective elbow on the circulation pump. It’s a common problem, and they don’t sell just the elbow. You have to buy the entire pump. To add insult to injury, they no longer sell the original part, and you have to buy an alternative that may or may not fit correctly. If you are of the percent that has one that doesn’t fit correctly, you will have leaks from a different area than you originally had. So, we’re replacing our 2 year old GE Profile with another dishwasher…possibly a Bosch.
There is a light grey button with an arrow on the side of the soap compartment, you just push that toward the direction of the arrow (toward the compartment). For the rinse compartment, you just flip it down from the top by grabbing the tab that sticks out.
Just purchased new GE OTR microwave, range and dishwasher to go with the GE fridge we bought two years ago. The one thing I don’t get is the third rack, i love the fact that i can put tongs or large cooking/stirring spoons up there but why would anyone put cutlery on that rack when the whole side of bottom rack is built for that.
We typically don't put silverware in the 3rd rack unless we have had a large gathering like Thanksgiving and need more space. The other time might be when we have larger items that take up the entire bottom rack which is rare but has happened. Otherwise 3rd rack we use for larger utensils/tongs or the small things like medicine measuring cups, shaker bottle balls, and sippy cup lids.
@@TopHomeowner How does the top of the middle rack get cleaned? The one we looked at in the store had a puck instead of a rotating arm and it looked like if you have the 3rd rack full of tongs, etc and even going through the 3rd rack would not clean the tops of the 2nd rack very well? What am I missing?
Sorry I'm just seeing this. I'm not sure how it really works but the tops of our middle rack always come out clean...and I stuff it full. I think the power and the way the water is distributed, it just works. I'll talk to Mark to see if he knows more though.
I have watched all 3 of your GE Profile videos as I am in the process of doing tons of statistical as well as anecdotal research because I am getting ready to replace all four kitchen appliances. I was wondering why you chose the GE Profile suite as opposed to the numerous other brands. Thanks.
Great question! Two main reasons. Overall we liked the looks of the GE Profile series. The house we currently live in needed an appliance refresh and we thought the styling looked upscale without having the premium price. The range specifically had a great design and we also wanted all the appliances to match brand-wise. Second, the number and types of features in the oven and dishwasher were unique compared to other brands. In our old house we chose Frigidaire and were happy with them overall, but it wasn't a good fit here. In short, upscale looks, tons of features and good value for money (for us). I hope this helps!
The GE Profile line hits the "sweet spot" of semi-high-end major appliances. I purchased a new tract house a year ago and the appliances that came with the house were so cheap and lousy. I swapped them out (got a credit from through the builder, D R Horton) for GE Profiles. I dealt directly with the local appliances store that installed the original kitchen, I also got a $500 rebate card with the purchase of the new appliances. I've been very happy with the Profile appliances. The Profile line looks sleek and has excellent features. My kitchen has a great look with the Profiles.
@@TopHomeowner thanks! that sucks cause I just ordered one (not delivered yet) and they told me it has them on two sides. I would think all dishwashers come with stemware holders these days. wonder if i can find an alternative shelf.?
I like our GE Profile, about 3 years old. However, the upper rack keeps sliding out about half way, empty or not. Any solution? By the way, sometimes it does not slide out, but often it does.
@@TopHomeowner Thanks again. By "binding" I assume you mean some sort of "bending"? No food fibers, but I did notice some buildup of white crusty substances in two areas, so I cleaned that. Then I cursed at it, which has worked in other situations, like when my car engine won't turn over. That seems to have worked today! -- temporarily, anyway.
Sorry no I mean binding as in the wheels may have gunk from something like food or hard water causing the catch verses the easy rolling. The white crusty substance sounds like hard water build up. Hopefully that was the cause and now you know what to check first. Thank you for updating us!
dont think i have this exact model but its very similar. issue just came up and wondering if have any idea how to correct. the Utensil spray above the 3rd rack(utensil rack) has popped of the top of dishwasher. so when open or close 3rd rack it hits it. suggestion for remounting this to top of dishwasher? I was hesitant on using a superglue or gorilla glue as dishwasher gets pretty hot and was worried about glue warming and softening then getting into the drainage and clogging that.
@@TopHomeowner No problem. And update....the clip(aluminim) popped off from top of the dishwaher(aluminum like also) that holds the water rail. Looks like was a little tac weld or something to that sorts that had worn out. I took the clip off, cleaned and scuffed the surface and tried using JB water weld and mounted and held in place w pressure. That worked for about 5 weeks then popped off again. Cleaned and scuffed surface again, tried with JB high temp weld and that lasted about 3 weeks. So cleaned again and did with the water weld again. on about 5 weeks now and its still holding. not sure if welding or tac weld would be too much heat for the interior surface. Or if something else is recommended other than what I am doing. I appreciate the response and time. Thank you
We have a very similar GE Profile Dishwasher and the 3rd rack was delayed. We've just received it but can't find any good instructions on removing the 2nd rack to install the 3rd rack. Do you have a video or instructions on how to install the 3rd rack? Thanks for your help!
Sorry, I don't. It might be easiest to contact GE Appliances directly and see if they can send you some additional information. I believe this is their main contact page: www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/contact-others.htm
I just bought a GE profile dishwasher last Friday and it was missing the 3rd rack. It has the rollers for it but no 3rd. Your comment makes me think GE sent it out knowing the 3rd rack was missing. I'll be calling the appliance store tomorrow morning to ask them what they now. Nice video! Thanks!
nothing happens when we touch the first most left spot to select choice - each light is flashing and LD is lite up. Do you have a thought as what to do?
I did a quick google search and this is what I found below. You may need to contact the company where you purchased it though and see what they say. I hope this helps! "Ld stands for a long drain. The dishwasher is taking longer than normal to drain. This could be due to a kinked drain hose or a blockage in the drain hose. The electronic control is sensing this and is sending the fault code to the display."
There doesn't seem to be rollers on the bottom. When the rack is full, it is difficult to keep it going straight back into the machine....why they didn't put in a track is beyond me, BIG mistake!!!
I remove and rinse out the filter at the bottom before replacing. Then I use a dishwasher cleaner like Glisten and run it through the hottest setting without drying. I'll check the filter again and rinse if needed but otherwise just wipe down the seals and around the inside of the door with a rag. Outside I use Windex and/or stainless steal cleaner (typically only when company is coming). I will do the deep clean every 3-6 months (which I need to do soon) and then I have my kids take a damp rag to wipe it if their is gunk. I do check the filter every couple weeks if I see dishes not getting as clean or drying as fast.

I'm working on getting it upstairs at the moment so I don't know how well it's going to clean dishes yet but it deems to be well liked by others.
@@TheSquirrelMommy - what are some of the complaints you've seen on the reviews? And which ones are the most common?
@@EdFuller The rollers on the bottom rack break often. They will send new ones if you call & complain. What they really need to do is redesign the rollers & how they attach.
Very good dishwasher except if I accidentally hit the delay wash button and can’t start the dishwasher. It’s very frustrating.
Hold the cancel button for 3 seconds….
Just got this installed today. The bottom rack has wheels on the bottom, but there isn't any track to keep it in line. Is it supposed to move freely, side to side, and back and forth? It is different from what I am accustomed to.
I agree, it does take some getting used to and it would have been better with an actual track. It still seems to do a decent job in our experience
Did I hear you say the dishwasher doesn't have a rinse cycle? How does the soap detergent/film get removed from the dishes?
I appreciate the comment. It's holding up for us so far but we haven't owned it for 4 years yet. Fingers crossed!
Do you have an airgap? If so, have you cleaned or changed the black hose that connects the airgap to the garbage disposal?
If you don’t select the boost dry does it not dry at all?
Thanks for the video!
Which one would you recommend between:

GE PDT715SYN2FS
GE GDT665SSNSS
I purchased the Ge profile 45 decibel dishwasher and am wondering if the sound it makes is normal. During the wash cycle when the pump goes on and off it is louder than I would’ve expected with a little bit of a high pitched whine. All the other time it is running it is very quiet. It’s just during the wash when it sounds Ike the pump is going.
We haven't noticed that sound on ours. It's pretty consistent through the entire wash cycle.
Hi. There is a great feature that you did not tell people about, Piranha Disposer. Could you?
I forgot about that piece! I'll look at making a follow-up video
Sheesh. Interested
Honestly I'd call it in for service. It could be the logic board inside the unit since it sounds like it's not running through the cycles properly.
I have this model ge profile dishwasher. It’s horrible.. developed leak after 16 months, right out of warranty window.
Thats no good! I'll keep an eye on mine. No issues so far... fingers crossed...
Yes mine has too. Sure was hoping they would do away with that strip.
I had the same problem, but I just do without it. Squeaking hinges drive me nuts
Never used a rince cycle. Have a sink
4 units in. 1st the baskets all broke 2nd panel broke 3rd making a weird knocking noise
EXTREMELY disappointed with my GE Profile - First one leaked, second one door control panel failed just outside warranty after pone year - next one will be a Bosch 800 - don't need this unreliability for a key piece of equipment
Thank you! My unit does not dry on boost either and my son will put the dishes on towels on the counter when unloading (ugh) and it didn't make sense.
The one thing I can’t figure out is how to open the rinse solution dispenser. It’s plastic and I don’t want to pull on it too much.
I have the same concern...... how do you open it?
Are these things so quit it sounds as if the jets aren’t working? I can’t hear anything beyond a faint trickle, leading me to believe it’s not blasting water the way it should be.
When I quickly open the door mid cycle the beaters stop in a fraction of a second. I might witness the lower arm turn an inch. Surly I should hear water spraying in there, no?
I’m afraid to add dishes, as I do not believe this can clean dishes without hardly making a sound.
We are hearing thumping noise even running washer empty. We are going to eplace spray arms but are their bearins we should replace too?
What is the best soap to wash dishes.
For the water we have, Finish Quantum has been the best.
The soap dispenser isn’t opening during wash cycle, any suggestions?!
Anyone have issues with the middle rack sagging? I’ve only had mine 3 weeks and it looks saggy
I have the the dishwasher PDT715SYNFS... where do I add jet wash there are 2 options....???
I'm not sure in your model but in ours you have to lift the cover next to where the detergent goes and pour it in the tiny hole in the adjustment knob.
I wish you talked about the cleaning the coarse and fine filters (and the sump filter, if any). I know that, in my current GE dishwasher (Triton XL), access to the sump filter and coarse filter is quite difficult.
We haven't had to clean it out yet, but I may do a follow-up video and cover this, and some other topics that have come up.
The GE filter is really easy to clean, I'm gathering questions and comments now to make a follow up video that should be posted by the end of July.
Just bought this dishwasher tonight... I’m so excited
Awesome, enjoy!
Do you like it? How's it held up
@@ChristmasMorning1995honestly I like the dishwasher… my 2 complaints are - the buttons are so easy to touch… I select and change the wash every time I leave over the door.
Sorry to hear that
I placed a heavy plastic cup on bottom and it melted.
Sorry to hear about the cup.
is this machine need dishwasher salt? Because I don’t know how can I use it?
Bought this exact model in April, 2021. Paid a PREMIUM for the soundproofing. 16 (+/-) months later THICK pieces of black plastic started sliding out from under the front of the machine. We called the ‘technician’ and he had ‘no idea’ what it was. (It ‘s the plastic soundproofing). I contacted GE…NO help. I contacted the appliance retailer…NO help. Buyer Beware.
Ugh, that's frustrating!
Having problems starting this dishwasher. Not sure of correct button to ish and order.
Having the same problem just to get it started
What do you mean it doesn't have a rinse cycle? It doesn't rinse your dishes? Just leaves the soap right on them????
It doesn't have a dedicated rinse cycle. Meaning you can't just pre-wash your dishes (get them wet without soap). Hope that makes sense.
@@TopHomeowner gotchya. Lol.

Hi how to change door cover? Thank you so much
So I’m guessing every brand has given up on the pre wash cup...wow.
Do we have to use the wifi option?? To run the dishwasher.
We live outside the US so ordering and shipping are a lot of work - what is the VERY BEST profile model please ? (HUGE thanks…)
@@OOOHBILLY - i don't know what type of dishes you may need to clean, but it should show examples in the owner's manual.
Just got this yesterday. Hopefully it is champ.
Thanks for sharing your experience and tips!
5:28 My Profile shows Ld where the minutes show. I can't start my washer. Do you know what Ld means
Ld stands for leak detected. Here's a video I found that might help you: ua-cam.com/video/v2YVYC6pVvU/v-deo.html
BTW mine is 2.5 years old and for some reason that center lock came on and I had to go to another youtuber to figure out just where to press to get it to come off! I love you guys for helping!
Thank you! We do love helping where we can. What was the issue?
I also have problem with control panel. It is not locked, I am just trying to figure it and get used to working it.
I have so far the same thing on the top of the Model!
But I am here just to learn how used it 😂
How can you hit the pause or stop button mid wash? The buttons are on top and mine was installed into a built-in cabinet like your video? How the heck can you stop it mid-wash if you need to? Squeeze your finger up top and try to cancel? My previous dishwasher this was easy to do if ever needed since the buttons were located in front.
My ge profile in normal node was 72 now it's 122 mins how to return it back to 72 mins thks
Is the tub fully metal? And its on black Friday sale for 599 on a walmart Canada deal. But idk if its the exact model GBP534SSPPSS
Ours is fully stainless steel on the inside. The one you sent looks like it is too, but it is definitely a different model
Didn't work
I'm sorry we haven't had that happen to us yet, were you able to figure it out?
To LOCK/UNLOCK the dishwasher control, depending on the model, press and hold the Dry Boost pad, or the Steam-Sani/Presoak-Sani/Sanitize pads at the same time, for 3 seconds.
My GE profile lasted 30years until it began recently leaking on inside left side. I’m trying to fix it. Any ideas?
I have a dumb question. What is the purpose of the digital timer display on the control panel if you can't see it during the cycle?
You can see it. We raised the feet too much when we installed ours so it was a bit higher than it should have been.
@@TopHomeowner I have a portable GE dishwasher and the top completely covers the display when the door is closed.
There is no way of seeing how much time is left in the cycle.
@@RobtStahl Well then I agree... that is a bad design!
Mine leaks from the left side. Any idea what to do?
If it's leaking from the door I'd make sure the gasket is fully in place and not torn somewhere.
how the heck do I add rinse aid. seriously not intuitive
You have to lift the cover next to where the detergent goes and pour it in the tiny hole in the adjustment knob.
Dishwasher works great but I need a replacement for the silver plastic trim around the control panel, any suggestions?
I'd either contact GE or a local appliance repair company. I'm sure you can order it through one of them. Hope this helps!
I can’t use it 😢
We just had the GE dishwasher PDT715SYN3FS installed by professionals last Weds.
To me it sounds like the drain hose is either kinked somewhere or maybe the drain loop was undone on the side when it was installed.

@Top Homeowner - how is this dishwasher holding up after a few months have gone by now?
It's holding up well. No issues so far!
How can a dishwasher not have a rinse cycle?
It doesn't have a rinse ONLY cycle. It will rinse the dishes after a wash
We use the top tray for spatulas and other small utensils. All of our silverware goes in the bottom tray
How do you turn the lock control panel off
It's the same process to lock it. Just hold your finger on the "Lock Controls" button for 3-5 seconds.
... ok...
If not, you can try pressing and holding the Start button for a few seconds and that should reset it as well.
great dishwasher. no problems. very satisfied
Where is the salt fill opening?
We don’t have those unless you mean detergent?
Is the control panel supposed to be visible when the door is closed?
very helpful thx
Glad it helped
Had our GE Profile for a little over 3 years. Control panel failed and the machine stopped working. Easy $100 fix. But the last problem we had was the water inlet into the tub unscrewed and flooded the whole kitchen. Thanks GE.
Wow, that's not good! We'll keep an eye on ours. Thanks for sharing
That would be so frustrating. We haven't had any issues so far but we are keeping an eye out and will make an update video if/when we do.
Same...
Our kitchen is flooded as well. The tub didnt do shit. Had ours for 1.5 years
Add another frustrated owner of a flooded kitchen from a GE Profile dishwasher.
Habe this in black- works great!
How do you open the soap and rinse compartment
There is a light grey button with an arrow on the side of the soap compartment, you just push that toward the direction of the arrow (toward the compartment). For the rinse compartment, you just flip it down from the top by grabbing the tab that sticks out.
Thank You...Manny the installation manager from P.C. Richard's was great
Just purchased new GE OTR microwave, range and dishwasher to go with the GE fridge we bought two years ago.
@@TopHomeowner Great idea for the lids, plus they always have rubber seals so now they stay far away from bottom element
Is it normal to have about a cup and a half of water left over in the filter area?
Yes it is
I have watched all 3 of your GE Profile videos as I am in the process of doing tons of statistical as well as anecdotal research because I am getting ready to replace all four kitchen appliances.
We just replaced all 4 of our appliances. We chose GE Profile because that was what we originally installed 15 years ago. Quality throughout!
My Ge shows H20 code, checked the hoses, hot water valve, still has the code. I wish I had some other brand.
Sorry to hear that
does this have those brackets specifically for holding stemware?
Unfortunately no. I didn't even think to look until you asked.
@@TopHomeowner thanks! that sucks cause I just ordered one (not delivered yet) and they told me it has them on two sides. I would think all dishwashers come with stemware holders these days. wonder if i can find an alternative shelf.?
You may have ordered a different level than ours. I just went through GE's site and it looks like they include it on the dishwashers above ours.
I like our GE Profile, about 3 years old. However, the upper rack keeps sliding out about half way, empty or not. Any solution? By the way, sometimes it does not slide out, but often it does.
You might want to make sure the rails are completely attached to the rack. Sounds like they are binding up.
@@TopHomeowner Thanks for the prompt reply. I'm quite naïve about these things, but I did check the rails, which appear to be completely attached.
Sorry, the only other idea I have at the moment is...Have you checked to see if there may be any food or fibers that could be binding them up?
Sorry I am just seeing this. I would contact them first and then maybe use a dishwasher safe superglue...I'll ask Mark what he recommends though.
Thank you
Great video, thank you
Great info, thanks!
You bet!
What do you mean it doesn't have a rinse cycle? Does that mean dishes have to be rinsed in the sink?
It doesn't have a button where you can just rinse the dishes (skip wash and dry cycles)
It should have a steam feature to get the gunk soft and washable, vs using water to rinse
any problems with it two years later?
Still running great!
Have you had any problems with the rollers on the bottom rack?
There doesn't seem to be rollers on the bottom. When the rack is full, it is difficult to keep it going straight back into the machine....why they didn't put in a track is beyond me, BIG mistake!!!
@@sherryginsberg3290 mine has rollers for sure bc they frequently fall off. Yes, a track would have made a lot of sense.
how do i load wine glasses in this model
This model doesn't come with stem holder. You might be able to purchase one as an accessory or use a wine glass basket.
How do you clean this dishwasher
