Im 6'3" bought a 2003 drz 250 last year. Almost traded it in for a 2 year old honda 250F but changed my mind about getting rid of the old drz but it never stops amazing me how good that thing goes it just works for my type of riding. Long story short i got 2 bikes now 😂

Trail bike! I like smooth and predictable. Honda XR...high smiles to miles ratio.

I'm 5'6 and about 120 lbs. I've ridden a 125cc street bike but my dream has always been a crf300l. The 89cm seat height and 145kg weight scares me a little bit...

How does body weight factor into choosing a bike. I've only rode 1 bike for a couple hours before, so call me brand new. I'm 230lbs and was looking at the honda crf250f.

In my opinion, not much, if you're just starting out. The CRF250F has plenty of power to learn on and there are a lot of guys your weight that have no problem trail riding them. Suspension will be a little soft once you start riding faster, but most bikes will need stiffer springs when you're over 200 lbs.

Standard rule is: 80% Rider, 20% Motorcycle. This means a rider with better skills will always surpass a rider with poor skills, even if the weaker rider is on a bigger bike. The Honda 250F will be good for you. If you find the suspension is soft or bottoming-out all the time (once in a while is no big deal), then you can change the weight of oil in the forks, install a heavier rear shock, and even add a preload spacer to the forks. These are all relatively cheap mods. You don't need a massive bike to enjoy. Focus on your skills before you go for the largest bike there is.

      @@OogleTheGreat Definitely,
I’ve had good luck adding about 8-10 psi in the air valve on older XRs.
Stiffens the forks up well. Bicycle suspension pump works well.
Otherwise, its hard to regulate that low of a pressure.
Portable air tank for filling tires works as well.

Sorry to be that guy but we live on a farm with very steep hills and I was wondering if I should get a powerful bike or something like an XR which can chug up our 200M steep hills

No worries! I'm not sure how steep you're talking, but I don't remember the last time I needed more than 20 HP when trail riding up steep hills. It's more about technique and getting power to the ground (traction) to get up steep hills.
