Codes are some bureaucrat's idea of what a "properly built" house is. That said, there are an awful lot of people out there who will do awful stuff like mix neutral and live in AC circuits. Dilemma. I fume about your having to redo plumbing connections. There must be a middle way but I have yet to find it. Where I live - Bonner county there are no rural building codes. You see some very odd ideas. Some of them dangerous. But thanks for making this video, because it is one more step towards sanity

We just built our own home here in Oklahoma. We GC all of it. We built a BArndominium, or you might call it a shop house. Its so amazing watching your dreams come true! We also have a homestead channel and I document our new set up as well. Good luck and keep up the good work!

Other costs to consider: Course of Construction Insurance, property taxes accrued during construction period, security fencing, lighting, cameras, bank fees for bank inspection for progress draws, onsite secure storage container rental, community impact fees for roads, fire protection, temproary fabric fencing for erosion control etc

I like the added blocking you put in for the cabinets. I don't know if you did this but my favorite builder also put in blocking in his bathrooms for the toilet paper holder and towel racks.
