oh sweet preserved eggs, the USDA can bite me I need this
Best comment (and sentiment!) ever! They can bite me, too!
My family has been canning eggs for 150 yrs. No worries. Lol. Thanks for the recipe!
That's fantastic!!!!
i water bathed 6 large jars yesterday and did a big gallon jar for the fridge; lets see how it went. Never had them in my life as I always thought it looked like a science experiment in my grandmothers fridge and was terrified as a child. My husband grew up loving them so I made some for him. I may try once they have cured in the fridge for a few weeks.... 61 yrs old and willing to try anything once; on my bucket list of things to do ....lol. Pressure canning was also on that list and got over my fear and now can meats, veggies and sauces. Love preserving foods now
I’m so glad you pressure can! It definitely gives you more variety.
So how were they?
@@leavethekidsalone I was curious as well
I hear ya, im scared to even think of using one so i water bath stuff but scared to eat them. Lol
@Namie's Natural's
Just think, the Amish & some Mennonites "WATER BATH" EVERYTHING!!!!! They have been doing this way for generations, no side effects or issues.
Our ancestors did it. So why not! I have canned for over 30 years and always wondered if I could water bath other stuff. Thank you for the heads up! I saw the one with the older Ball Canning Book and I will be ordering it! Thanks for the heads up on it!
For your readers who wish to do smaller batches of brine, based on what you said, "15 cups of vinegar : 0.75 (3/4) cups of salt". And by extension, to every cup of vinegar, add O.05 cups of salt, (1 cups of vinegar : 0.05 cups of salt) - which would be 2.4 tsp. of salt per cup of vinegar. FYI.
You're better at math than I am! :) I was just going to divide the recipe by 3 and use 5 cups of vinegar and 1/4 cup of salt.
You da man👍👍
Super people on here doing the math! Much appreciated ❤❤
Your readers really like it when their is a simple measurement to go by, then we fill like were ready to start no guessing game. Thank you Sherry Phillips
My dogs sit there and pray for nicks.
Thank you for video. Watched because I was curious, glad that it was the Amish way...makes me feel more comfortable to try it.
I’m learning a lot from you and appreciate that your teaching none usda stuff. Growing our own small garden but buying from the Amish who have beautiful veggies. So thank you and God Bless you and your family
Nice, yum. I've eaten so many pickled eggs there's no way I could ever remember. They sure are tasty!!
I love your teaching and recipes!! I just did 8 quarts of potatoes and they came out clear!! I trust the Amish ways.
Thank you for your video ! Simple and perfect 🥰
Thank you! I am trying my hand at canning and you made this one extremely simple ♥️ you have a new subscriber!
Much Love girl. You seriously ROCK!!
I really appreciate your teaching style. Thanks for the great video!
Much appreciated thank you! I’m so glad you are receiving value from my videos. Happy canning.
Yum! I love pickled eggs! I can't wait to make these, they look so good!!
Just found the channel. Found the video because I have wondered about canning my pickled eggs. I just wanted to say " I personally" use only the " unbroken" egg white or perfect egg. Because the yolk has a different consistency that the egg white, and as a result if it is exposed to the brine it breaks down and makes the brine very cloudy... I look forward to canning my pickled eggs. Free up a little space in the fridge. Thank you. Excellent video
USDA don’t know everything. My grandparents canning lots without pressure canning.
Thank you so much. I appreciate your videos a ton. I’m still using the milk one. This has worked out so well for me you look so healthy and your hair looks great too!
Ohhh they look amazing!
Just found you and I subscribed! I just made these eggs and oh my word! My kiddo loved these. Thank you.
Thank you for your show, I'm going to do some today.
Fantastic video! 👏 So glad I found you! 🤩
Thank you so much for this video. I have done the fridge pickled eggs in full vinegar brine, the vinegar was a little too strong for our liking. I have now tried the canned pickled eggs under your instruction. Now we are waiting for the taste test. So pleased you posted this long term storage video...Jo
me too. Gotta try water bathed potatoes next.
This looks amazing! Trying this today😃
Love your videos! I just learned to steam fresh eggs for 18 minutes, cool with water and peel comes off easily. Start at the top of the egg where the membrane is. Magic!!
Nice! Always love a good egg peeling method.
Your comment backs up what I too have found, start from the pointy end. Thank you...Jo
I steam my eggs as well. I have a little egg steamer. I pop the eggs in, 14 minutes later the buzzer goes off and the egg is perfectly cooked and the shells come right off perfectly ( most of the time.)
I've done pickled eggs forever..in different flavors🤗 I love pickled eggs🥰 they make awsome deviled eggs for the holidays 😁
But how long is long term storage. In pantry? In fridge? What's the longest you have had open jar of eggs in fridge?
That’s what I want to know! @@AlexAlex-wh5ol
looks yummy, thanks for sharing
Ok i followed this one to a T. They are in the water bath now. Great videos God Bless from Tennessee 🇺🇲❤️
Definitely going to try this , luv your channel!!!
Thank you! Super easy! A the places I looked for canning eggs, led me to here. So thank you! My chickens are laying so many eggs. So I'm greatful to find a way I can store them longer, in case SHTF.
(Also if you took your garlic cloves and put them in a shaker, like 2 cups together, or a container with lid, and shake them, the outer part of garlic clove comes off super easy) thanks again!
I’m new to canning and I’ve actually never canned before. I have made pickled eggs many times but I am determined to be as good as home canning as it gets. I’m going to start with this recipe! Thank you
You won't regret watching this fantastic woman.
She does a lot of research before jumping in, saying this is how you should do it.
Your Kitchen, Your Rules!¡!¡
She wants you to do your research too, so you will feel comfortable canning.
Agree 💯 😊
I have been water glassing my farm fresh eggs, but I may give this a try 🥚 Blessings
My chickens produce too many eggs for my small family and I’m new to canning things. Thank you for this video!!
Thank you very much, this is what I am looking for, great video
love it and thank you ! i will be doing this cause i know they will last and taste great 😋
Very informative video by a very pretty lady! Thank you for taking the time for this 🙂
I did it today. Thank you!!
I like pickled eggs more than any of my family. That's good enough for me. Thank you for this informative video. I'm going to can mine
I subbed and rang that bell.
I've often wondered about canning eggs vs. fridge method. Been canning for over 35 years, thanks for proving it can be done!! I know that the brines I use call for water & vinegar, but if it isn't broken - don't fix it!! Great info..
Hello my dear, how long will they last?
Unfortunately because it is a non-USDA approved recipe there is no shelf life. However, I have eaten mine up to nine months.
Wanting to try this
Do you use water or not
@@daintrymanning3774 I use water & vinegar. Didn't seem to affect taste or texture to me.
@@jimdoe557 thank you is that like 50 50
I'm hoping to try this tomorrow or soon...quail, duck, guinea and chicken eggs... And i want to make some red beet eggs also. Thanks for this info. I've never had pickled eggs other than red beet eggs before but want to preserve then shelf stable. Thank you for this.
Thank you so much for sharing this video
Your welcome. 😊
Thanks! Great tutorial. Not to nit-pick, but the second your jars are exposed to open air, they are no longer sterile. I learned this growing mushroom spawn. Sanitized, yes. But not sterile.
I made your recipe and ate them 2 weeks later . We are still alive 😂
Thanks for the video. I'll be canning eggs for my 2 month commercial fishing job in AK. Eggs are not that easy to find nor are they inexpensive in Naknek Alaska so I'm going to bring my own.
Also, I am a huge proponent of keeping our lives in the private domain, leave the public domain for those doing direct commerce with the state. So the alphabet agencies named can take a long walk off a short dock.
Lastly, my compliments to your husband and the parents that made you, you're insanely gorgeous!!
Awesome 👍 thank you!
Love pickled eggs!
Why is she so majestic? Wow.
New subscriber here. Appreciate the WB instructions as the other vids on UA-cam just give add hot brine jars will seal method.
Pickled eggs! Yum.
Thank you for Amish methods. I live near but don't know any personally. Grandmother had Mennonite in her background. She died before I got I to canning. I enjoy your channel.
I just learned mushing a clove with the side of your knife is a great way to peel the things. 🙂
Very nice. Thank you.
I just love your videos. You are my absolute favorite person to watch on youtube. I love your Amish series. I am trying to figure out how to make vinegar at home and although I have found several videos they all say dont use in canning and that is exactly what I am wanting to make homemade vinegar for. The videos I have watched all say you have to buy store bought vinegar for canning. Is there a way to make 5% vinegar for canning at home. I want to be safe but yet I would like a homemade option.
Yummy these will be great in salads
Awesome 🇺🇸
I love my pickled eggs. Good thing to do when your chickens lay real good.
Them look good. I canned 20 pint jars of venison today for the first time.
We really like eggs, and I am going to try this method. Well presented information, and I subbed and rang that bell.
Thank you! I have a revised method I’m currently working on as well!
@@MakeitMake I'm looking forward to watching that video. We have been using our Instant Pot set to 8 minutes and now after watching your video, I'm going to try the 555 method. Thank you
You are so welcome! Thank you for the sub! ❤️
I ve always been curious about pickled eggs
Hi thank you for the easy recipe I’m curious how long do they last
That was really helpful and your really pretty.
Love yr videos
I post your videos on my Facebook page.
I would really love to learn about homemade vinegar. I’ve been watching other videos but the goal of a true vinegar is to get it to the 5% acidic level which is so crucial in home canning.
We buy pickled eggs in the store. I am going to try this recipe.
Love your channel. Also subscribed last week. Not sure what might have happened, but I could barely hear you. Some UA-cam videos they use a microphone... just a suggestion.
I don't like anything pickled usually, except actual pickles. But after watching your videos, I am already canning tomato sauce and will try a pickled egg bath. At least if I don't like them my hubby will eat them!
So interesting! Seeing a documentary on how alaskans pickle eggs for the winter and it brought me here. Why do you put the jars to bathe in hot water after filling them up?
How long will they last ? Thank you for the video
I love the Steelers hoodie!
Thank you 😄. Go Steelers!
The only team worse than the Steelers is the Patriots! Go Ravens!
Do you let your brine cool before adding to eggs? Or can it be poured while hot? I have made homemade pickles and poured the brine in while hot, helped to seal jats. Didn't know with eggs if would be different. Thx for the info & video!!
Looks great. How long do you think they will last after canning? Ballpark guess.....
🐔🥚🐔🥚🐔🥚🐔🥚🐔🥚
I am back again; now receiving five eggs a day. I know this in your upper right corner there is a tag for a new pickled egg recipe I am going over to view that; once again thank you for sharing. Be well and be safe. Peace and blessings
You’re so welcome ❤️
I double sterilize dishwasher and the oven I’m making the quail eggs now thanks for sharing
Can I use thie same brine recipe to pickle brussel sprouts, green beans and carrots?
I do it because I like them, yum
Yes, we do too. It never lasts more than a couple of weeks at our house! 😃
Questions: did you use hot brine & hot jars?
I just made some for the first time and they turned brown in stripes like they'd been scalded and although they looked safe to eat they were VERY chewy - way overcooked. Thankfully it was a practice run with just 8 eggs (4 didn't pass the peeling stage). They were very fresh farm eggs, day old at the most.
thanks
~ Mari
Thank you for this video. What is the shelf life?
Love this! How many. Eggs did you use?
Do you put the water level above the jars or slightly below? How long approximately do they last with canningTIA
Hi, great video!! How long can you long term store these, 6 months, 1 year?? Thanks!!!!
In another comment she replied that she’s had her eggs at 9 months and they were fine.
I love this!! I was worried about canning any kind of meat. Thank you so much. God bless. Jesus is coming soon. 😍😍
What is the temperature of a "hot bath" at the end?
Does it matter how long you cook or the temperature you cook the brine?
I usually add spices to the brine and this recipe adds the spices to the jars? Is that preference or is that for the pickled eggs to be stored for longer?
If you add honey or sugar can you cook it in the brine like you do with refrigerator pickled eggs.
Thanks so much
Can you use a bread and butter pickle brine.?.
Do you use only vinegar without any water for dilution? Do they get rubbery just being in vinegar?
One day- try using the pickle juice, if you haven’t yet- it’s pretty good!
Could you recommend any good Amish cookbooks that would be much appreciated thank you cookbook that would include food preservation.
Thank you
Did you say sugar is optional ? I'm trying to avoid sugar in my diet. Love your channel.
Hi, how long will the canned pickled eggs last in your pantry?
What temperature is the water in the water bath at the end?
Do you k own if it's possible to do the same with pickled beet eggs & yellow mustard eggs as well. Does your friend do these also?
Does the water half to be boiling to water bath?
So was your water boiling before you started water bath or did you bring to a boil after in water?
For fresh eggs that you get from your chickens if you put your eggs in a double boiler and steam them for 20 or 30 minutes the egg shells come right off I got this from Jill Winger she lives in Montana on a cattle ranch has different books out has a podcast weekly.
I tried it and it works I hated peeling eggs but now really easy
Thanks I will try it, I hate peeling eggs!
Thanks for the video but I got one question so what happened if I use a weird shape egg that has has a few cracks on it. I already made a batch and some of those eggs have cracks on it. I haven’t opened the jar yet and they’re sitting on my pantry for the last seven days should eat it or not.
What is the shelf life of these? Thanks!!
When you open a jar of eggs from the shelf to eat, do you put them in the fridge, or do you leave them on the counter?
Do you have a recipe for kosher dill mix? Almost every pickle recipe in my new Amish cookbook that I bought has the dill mix seasoning and I don't want to use commercially produced mixes.
do you pour the brine when its hot or doenst it matter?
Nice, I subscribed😏
I just found you and yet, I already trust you more than the USDA.
