Bob Glidden, the greatest pro stock racer with the greatest crew chief and crew ever. arrow made a really nice pro stocker. good looking with a very small frontal area.
Funny how Ford really didn't sponsor Bob enough and Chrysler basically bankrolled the PS Arrow and when they went broke (gov't bailout), Ford started paying more attention. Similarly, Plymouth built the Superbird back in 1970 to get Richard Petty back from Ford. Follow the money and the talent, folks! Love the video!! I wish there was more info out there on his engine and the development of the PS W2 SB MoPar!!
The Olny reason he was competitive with the mopar was because of the weight break it received. The 351 Cleveland had to carry more lbs per cubic inch than ANY othe engine in pro stock racing.
Lee Shepard run small block and big block i think the big block was i believe was a 348 with 409:crank and other parts visaversa to make a light big block. He had a lot of success against Gliden
Nitros is an amazing additive. Cheating is the sign of a team who cant win by the rules. Darrell Alderman and Scott Geoffrion did the same in their careers too. No respect for cheaters. And I am a Mopar guy..
It was a one hit wonder because Chrysler filed for bankruptcy in 1980 and shut down its racing division t the time glidden went back to ford in 81 82 with the boss 429 in the EXP ford
This shocked the racing world when he switched to a Plymouth Arrow. And made it competitive 😊.
Always loved that little Arrow
Awesomist pro stock driver in the world today, God bless Bob Glidden soul !

i love it because he proved that a small block MoPar was still competitive in racing when others in Nascar gave up on it not going to name names
I loved bob glidden when I was a kid in the 80’s
He was a great guy Mike!
🏁🏁I miss Bob, knew him well!!!🏁🏁
The competition wasn't ready for the W 2 heads.
Or Bob's retired Fairmont... 😲
@@dennisschell5543 or literally anything related to that dude in this era
Many have dominated this class over the yrs. but none like Bob, and always so humble, class act all the way around.😊
He could ride any horse, that's for sure.
I hung around Koffells shop during the Darrell Alderman day's. They weren't ready for Dave's B1 stuff either 👍
Many thanks for these videos Calvin! 👍
A NICE FAMILY MAN AND A GREAT CHAMPION ❤
thankyou calvin
The competition wasn't ready for Bob Glidden !!
The Good old days. The mighty W2 head 340 Mopar. Still riding the streets now. Ronnie Sox and Buddy Martin started with Fords too.....😄
I remeber of Bob Gliddens time from past. He took his fourth titel of Pro Stock Championship.
Just the best!! 7:35
How come you don't see the extra person hand holding/waving the driver to find the staging beams back then?
The Olny reason he was competitive with the mopar was because of the weight break it received. The 351 Cleveland had to carry more lbs per cubic inch than ANY othe engine in pro stock racing.
Ronnie Sox switched back to ford power again when he wanted to try and get around Gliddens ford.
He was the best Bob from Dave from Canada ford power 😅

Plymouth and Glidden were un beatable!!!!! Why did he go back to Ford???
he still ran the Clevland in the Plymouth
@@warrenheslip692 LMAO.
@@warrenheslip692 HE ran a W2 all Mopar! No Cleveland!!!
Chrysler filed bankruptcy the next year and shut down the racing program

Bob made anything a winner, but the CLEVELAND was the GOAT of smaller in³ PROSTOCK
Mopar or no car.
Plymouth and Glidden were un beatable!!!!! Why did he go back to Ford???
He went back to a ford in 1980 after losing to Lee Shepherd in the first two events because the Ford was just slightly faster than the Plymouth.
@@CalvinWalker2000 Not true, he went back to Ford because Chrysler went bankrupt that year. (although the Ford engine did make more power)
@@oscaracme okay, thanks for the clarification.
Love the small block Mopar scream!
