In Martial Arts, real mastery is achieved when exhausted - when you are so tired, you no longer care, but still forge ahead, with no regard for the outcome. At that point, you have truly just let go - whatever happens, you did your best, you're still trying, but the outcome is outside your control & you are ok with that. Acceptance. Zero concerns.
At that point, The Universe steps in and takes control. Odd things happen. Usually good odd things.

The way I have detached myself from the past is by realizing that this long gone human isn't me. We don't have the same personality, the same thoughts, heck even the same aspirations. Whatever happened to him happened to him and whatever will happen to me will happen to me. I too in a few years will probably be only a distant hazy memory, with another human resembling my image and sharing my name taking my place.

  • @Full-Wisdom

This video delves into the profound realm of detachment and the art of letting go, drawing on the wisdom of Buddhism and the philosophy of living fully without clinging. The notion that true pleasure and the essence of life are found not in grasping tightly but in the freedom of letting go resonates deeply. It's a reminder that life's transient beauty is best experienced in the moment, without fear of loss or the burden of possession. The analogy of the little girl who squeezed the bunny too tightly, metaphorically illustrates the counterintuitive truth that to truly hold something precious, we must hold it lightly. This video doesn't just explore the concept of detachment; it invites us to reconsider our approach to life's pleasures and pains, urging us toward a state of being where we can fully engage with life in all its undulating, unpredictable beauty, yet remain free from the confines of our desires and fears. A truly liberating perspective that challenges us to find balance in the 'middle way,' embracing life's experiences without becoming ensnared by them.

You can separate art from the artist, but not spiritual teachings from the teacher, otherwise no one would see anything wrong with cult leaders and priests who molest people while teaching purity and abstinance. Nobody who is truly content needs spiritual help, and you're absolutely right to be troubled by those issues. I disagree that attachment is the root of all suffering, but letting go is one way to deal with it effectively. The nature of this world is suffering itself, whether you're attached to it or not. Let us not forget that these same teachings were used to brainwash young Japanese pilots to plunge to their deaths as kamikaze pilots in World War II. "I am a leaf on the wind, watch how I soar."

Perhaps it's depressing to know so much; to also have others look to you for the hard questions of life and meaning. He certainly had an active life. Also, you know as well as I do that everyone struggles with something. If you read some of his books, like Behold the Spirit, there's an emphasis that what he teaches is more of pointing to the way, and not actually the way itself. I believe he held this belief constantly and that throughout bits of time he struggled and made his comebacks only to fall once again into it. And though he taught about suffering and attachments; he is not hypocritical in the sense that he says to not drink, do not smoke, do not etc.. and does it himself! But rather that he too had an attachment which was holding him, and he was telling people to let go! I think of this as the struggle of all people spiritually and physically; I think his teachings are still precise and still valuable.

    So very true.
2 years ago I met a great beeing, that just so happend to be a beatiful young woman.
But that wasnt what attracted me, it was her energy, her compassion and the way she carried herself.
She saw my whole beeing right away, the joy and the pain. It took me longer to really see her, I felt her more.
The thing is, the moment we called hethother boy and girlfriend, I was so affraid to loose her, that my whole beeing changed.
The worst part is, that I know that you shouldnt pick a beatiful flower and that you cant own anything, but things in my past, let the scared little kid take the wheels as soon as she was "mine".
We have to remember that we are not only the human experience, we are also pure energy and that energy can never go wrong, it is exactly thr way it is suppose to be and we will always pull and push the right energies around us as we need, as long as we stay true to our self.
I wish all my brothers and sisters peace of mind ❤

I've been through this kind of place once, I'm not saying it's the same place at all, but, I've suffered greatly before and I think I have figured out what these great masters of humanity tell us everday, at least part of it. So, I'm yet to see a suffering that doesn't have a cause even if you don't know what's the cause, it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist, but from what I've experienced and observed, probably when you don't know why you suffer, if it's not clear what you're wishing to be different, then probably the wish itself is the thing, I mean, I was always a simple person and didn't need much to be okay, but even that way I was still suffering, it came to a point where life itself turned into a problem, I was very afraid to die, especially a scary or slowly painful death, and we all know that to die it simply requires to be alive, what I meant to say with all that is that you suffer because you're not okay with how things are, no matter how, no matter what, something in you is still resisting the flow, either you are too afraid of the future, of having to go through a rough process or even fear of the possibility to pass through any traumatic experience just like me or just wishing for something new, like a drug to keep you always addicted to the "happy" state of mind, I will not say that it's easy to just let it go and flow, if you still see yourself, your "ego" as you, it will be tremendously difficult, but that's why the masters teach us to look inside beyond the self of the ego, a place I can hardly explain in words but I feel that everything's fine in that place, not because nothing happens, but because no matter what happens I'm still there, it's all like a movie in the cinema and I'm just watching it without getting emotionally envolved, quotes like "being in the world but not of the world" start to make all the sense after that discovery of what were always there inside watching and knowing. I kinda like this one I've heard once: "we are all gods already, we are here to learn how to be humans" but we can't mess things up, not necessarily is the same meaning of gods like powerful beings like superheroes or the common concept of God, I think the divine thing is the peaceful mind state even when it's dark, because you're the whole light yourself. Sorry for this big essay and for any grammar mistake, I originally speak portuguese. Wish you all the best.😅🙏

letting go moves you forward with energy to anyone wondering what entirely letting go means. How to spot it? You feel an urge to move in the way your heart is telling you and you cannot foresee how you will do it and how it will turn out. You can only forsee the part where you let go until you cant foresee anymore, USUALLY 2-3 into the future. Usually this intuition makes me feel as if you will fuck up or be weak and clueless as it goes against you current beliefs on strength, which keep you weak. Ive found letting go only works if you have an intention first, then the intuition comes for you to let go. So the intuition for me is forseeing myself immdeiatly listening to the intuition to move towards purpose. I'll give and example, back in primary i join the basketball team and would enjoy it but never really let go id get the ball and immediatly give to someone else? I could forsee myself bouncing it and i could feel the freenes it would give and theimmediate movement of going forward however i could not for the life of my feel that i would not fuck it up, i could not feel how i would make it bounce more than once and run same time. So i did not let go that year. Next year i was determined to get better. The intentions were stronger with the more risk. So during a match i recieved the ball and in that second i had the intenttion of bouncing the ball and moving forward. I followed it while not knowing if the second bounce would be under my hand. It was, once you let go life takes care of everthing. It wasnt until i was halfway down the court i realised i was bouncing this ball with so much accuracy, applying all the training i had done in real time with flow. My intuition kicked in to snap me out of thinking and to move again so i followed it instantly and next thing i know im slamming that shit into the hoop. My close friends all happy for me cherring and closest friend geneinly please to see me let go and have fun. Fromt that day anytime i wanted something, gains, more friends, girls in class, different sports, deeper conversetions with clsoe people etc.. i always had the intuition. The fun part is once you let go with one intuition it snowballs. Whatever you had to let go of during that intuion, you will noticed stopped holding you back from other things. For example i went home slept over the weekend after match and during pe next week i was in flow during other sports without needing to face that fear again. It left me feeling more free. TH efun part is that you can keep on getting intuition and the more you follow them the deeper you find yourself the more free you become. During all these years there is one intuition the biggest of all i cant do its to crazy a feeling of if i follow this one i kill who i am.

Why do we have to do Life in reverse?
Get old to learn to let go... Stress, anxiety, keeping up with the Jones... etc..
Only to have what we started with...
    Materially...
I just hope I can keep my Memories...

Part of me thinks I delay for attachment, and this among other Alan Watts teachings has me thinking about it more and more. How about you?

Actually, the point is exactly to stop seeking, to stop desiring even the desire to stop desiring, just sit for a bit and observe yourself, then you'll eventually reach and see the balance, he would be contradicting himself if he teached the middle way and encouraged to desire something so much, I understand the confusion, we want to stop suffering, but the suffering itself is not as bad as we think and everything is from the mind, so we just need to understand the mind, then the rest will be as it always was, but clear like the water to you. 🙏

At around 3:45 the narrator speak about people who are "spiritually poor" and states that they don't cling to any property.
Thinking that he is confusing the meaning of "spiritually poor" with being "materially poor".
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:3)
The interpretation of this line from the bible could result in endless hours of philosophical debate about what
is the actual meaning behind the phrase "poor in spirit".
