My step-father and I built a 48 inch version of the same plane Waaay back when I was a kid (call it 1966, when I was 9). Covering was issue paper, and we did one tow line launch during a particularly windy day. We call the winds in Southern California "Santa Ana". The model flew, and flew, and FLEW...out of sight! I just hope it landed well, somewhere in Anaheim or Costa Mesa, and that someone called it a gift of the sky gods. Your plane is just beautiful, and your dad would be proud of your craftsmanship. Everyone in my neighborhood back then was involved in the space program in some fashion.I pass on praise they would have offered: you are a steely-eyed plane builder.

Thank you so much for the lovely comment. My father has started flying in 1959. His first free flight (engine powered) model also has flown out of sight. Luckily one of the villagers has returned it back after few weeks, since he has mentioned his name and the address in the aircraft. 👍👍👍👍👍
