    This video just made me fall in love with my 2015 Spark which is undergoing a major upgrade right now. I've got a 2014 spark 730 carbon. I'm thinking of doing the same rather than forking out 3k for a new trial. It's been well serviced and rides like new bike. What upgrades did you do?

    • @glitch314
      @glitch314 3 роки тому +1

      @@bennyboyyorks Got the stock wheelset replaced with Stan's Flow, Hope Pro 4 hubs and Maxxis Ikons. Also slapped a Brand-X dropper and an Ergon saddle while I was at it. Got the fork and shock serviced and had the fork upgraded to Fit4 damper, which is miles better than stock. Now it rides like a dream! Best decision I made. :)

      @@bennyboyyorks i didn’t go too crazy with tires, they are 2.35 but the wider rims made the ride a lot more confident for sure! I’ll be interested to know how wide you can go with the tires? Travel does not really matter all that much, geometry is more important. Back in the day, a 100-120mm bike was a XC bike with awful, road bike geometry, whereas a 180-240mm of travel was basically the same, but higher up and a slacker head angle, but not by much. Nowadays, we have more aggresive angles and comfortable bikes on which to attack a local trail. I would be more than happy to have a Spark, although, I would change the bars immediately for something with 40-50mm of rise.
    Top notch video!

    I do that with my 100mm hardtail so yeah, it is more about the rider than the bike, still, there are limits and it also doesnt make sense to bring a knife to a gun fight, but a double suspension 120mm should do almost anything, just not as fast and comfortable as a long travel enduro bike, and not as fast and efficient as a full on XC bike, it is somewhere in the middle.

    It seems like 120mm, even a full suspension with 100mm is a LOT when riding most trails as mountain biking tires provide a lot of give as well for most trails. But if riding huge downhills and you have pro jumping skills, 100mm probably feels like you’re riding a road bike.

    Curious how much yours weights as my dream build would be fairly similar,. Also curious about your height and size, seems like a good bike to size up on.

      I don't have a weight for it, I'll have to sort that out and get back to you. I can tell you it's lightweight! ;) I'm 189cm and the bike is a large!

    It's great that you can make enduro with a XC bike, if you are not going that crazy 120 mm travel will do .
    By the way ever ran into a bear in those beautiful scottish trails?

      We don't have any bears here thankfully! That is something I'm really glad about!

    I ride a trek 9.9 ssl 26er,I'm never overtaken by anyone, full suspension or not and when on a full susser, they don't stand a chance, short travel bikes like this offer all the advantages of full suspension, without the uphill nightmare of long travel bikes, it's all good

    Nice video and review of the Scott Spark. I am considering this bike for my wife as she is looking for something a bit more trail oriented. By chance have you ever ridden the Intense Sniper Trail? would love to see a comparison from your view between these 2 bikes. Suspension is different and Sniper is at 66.5 head angle. and you gained another subscriber...Keep Shred'n !!
