  • This video covers how to create keywords and titles for stock photos and footage to submit to stock photography platforms such as Shutterstock, Adobe Stock, iStock, Getty Images, Alamy and others. We go over our top keywording tips and strategies that will help you maximize the discoverability and sales of your stock content. We also take an actual example of a stock image of ours and walk you through our process of how we would keyword and title it.
    While we typically use Shutterstock keyword tool to find keyword ideas for our stock photography content, we highly recommend taking a look at Dropstock.io free keyword tool too. Unlike Shutterstock, Dropstock.io will show views, sales and rating for each keyword that immensely helps to decide which keyword to include. Check it out at: dropstock.io/tools/keyword-re...
    Also, take great care in putting the most important words first in both your keywords list and title. This matters because not only do many stock photo platforms use order hierarchy to search for images, Google also indexes your photos by title. Because many people still start their buying process for stock images on Google, having a succinct title with properly ordered words by relevance is a must.
    There are many other things we cover in this video such as: should you use the singular or plural form for keywords? should you use the infinitive form (eat, walk, run) or simple participle form (eating, walking, running) for verbs? should you use multi-word or one-word keywords?

    Starting this off as a hobby, and your explanations are very useful. Hope you make more videos about stock photos/videos, e.g. coming up with ideas, revenue, platforms, etc. Thanks!

    Interesting, thanks! I do it similarly, I also use Shutterstock's recommended keywords if they are relevant. Although most of my photos are aviation photos, so I don't have a lot of revenue from stocks yet 😅

    Wow! That was the best ever extensive video tutorial I've watched about keywording stock photos. Thanks for this valuable information. You have a new subscriber to your channel. 😊👍 I am preparing my Ai images to start selling them on several sites. I am a beginner on selling digital assets on the internet, and I want to learn many things before i start. Do you have a video about keywording Ai image illustrations and the complete process? For example from generating the image with Midjourney, upscale and edit correct artifacts and flaws in Photoshop, and of Course fillnally the Keywording. Thanks.

      @@BlokhinFilms ok thanks. Thats a good idea for making a video about it. You will get a lot of views as many people watching more videos about Ai images and it is a very trending topic.

    thank you for the comprehensive and helpful explanation! In the past there was a big hype about long-tail keywords, that were supposedly working better than short ones, but i see that all your tags are one or max two words long. Did something change? Are long-tail keywords no more helpful?

    • @BlokhinFilms

      We do not think too much about it and put keywords that make sense in the context of a photo/video. If we come up with 3-word keyword, we put it there. 5-word keyword? Absolutely. But, we do not jam them there on purpose. It is true that most websites break down multiword keywords into separate words. One thing I do not know if they give different weights to those.

    Thanks for the advice. I have a specific question. If you have 5 photos with different shots of the same subject (for example for the lake photograph you took for example), how do you give different titles for the same subject? I would very much welcome suggestions. Thank you very much

    • @BlokhinFilms
      @BlokhinFilms  Місяць тому

      As for us, they have to be substantially different. Otherwise, we would dilute their value. If they are indeed different (different lighting, angle, etc), then it is easy. You just add words that describe the differences. For example: "Great Salt Lake with mountains in background wide angle view", " Great Salt Lake at sunrise with mountains in background" etc.

    I watched a video of Mat Hayward and some other Adobe stock employee where they said that it's best to add no more than 49 keywords (not 50!). I don't remember why it's the case, but I'm sure you'll be able to find the video or discussions on microstock group to confirm my information.

      I think you are referring to how Adobe Stock distributes weight to the first 10 important keywords (it will put a slightly more weight on them if you have 49 keywords). I think it is a minor matter. For us, it is better to have one more important keyword than not.

    • @BlokhinFilms
      @BlokhinFilms  Рік тому +2

      Just noticed that Adobe Stock has a limit of 49 keywords anyway. So, if you provide them 50 keywords, I guess they will cut off the last one.

    I would like to express my respect for the content and cool Russian accent. like, subscribe, bell.
    Say, why is not stock submitter, m+ or other auxiliary programs used?

    • @BlokhinFilms
      @BlokhinFilms  6 місяців тому

      You are welcome. Stock submitter is a totally viable option. My only concern is what happens if they go under for one or another reason. We want to stay independent of intermediaries as much as we can.
      Because we focus on so few stock photo sites, for us it is not difficult to upload/submit content ourselves. But, for someone else, m+ or stock submitter may be worth it.

      @@BlokhinFilms 40000 photos is a cool result.
      I'm curious how much money a portfolio of 6000 videos brings in, if it's not a secret...
      Yeah, I'd like to get on those drains, but getting there is a little more difficult than just registering.
      I have less than 1000 videos so far. I'm trying to get to a steady upload.

    • @BlokhinFilms

      Not going to tell our numbers here. But, here is what I learned based on my research. You can expect to make up to $2/asset for a year. So, if you have 1K videos/photos, you can make up to $2K/year. If you make more than $2, you are doing very well.
