    Great video…I’m hoping to get a Whale Shark at some point! I have a Bull Shark. The Whale Shark is basically an upsized and improved copy of the Bull Shark, and I also stop in and talk with the owner of Hammerhead Kayaks regularly. For those asking about the warranty, I’ll say the same thing I said in one of my videos on the Bull Shark…The owner, Eddie, is the guy…when you call them, he’s most likely who you’re talking to, so you’ve already reached the top of the food chain, and he takes a very personal interest in making sure people are happy with his product. If something breaks or you have a problem, if you have a suggestion for improvement, or if you want to tell him how happy you are with your purchase, Eddie listens. If you have something go wrong that shouldn’t have, he’ll bend over backwards to make it right. Stay Safe!

    Currently, you can choose what drive you'd like with your Whale Shark. A Hobie style flipper pedal drive, a prop pedal drive, or an actual electric prop drive that fits in where your pedal drive would be. All without a price increase if you choose the electric motor.

    While I will say its impressive for its size. You guys always get it wrong. You put 5 foot of storage space behind the seat. This is not usable easily on the water. Getting up and turning around to get anything back there is not the easiest , nor the safest way to get anything. You are moving your center of gravity not only up but to the sides and having to go across a seat to reach anything is difficult at best. Most kayakers are not these teeny tiny, weightless, acrobatic people. IF you want to make a kayak right , you move the seated position about 2 foot or three further back. Move the drive back that far , and in front of the drive have the open storage areas. A flat space to put a cooler. That way the weight balances out. If you need something you can easily work around the drive and you are not having to turn around for anything. With a lower profile drive , it would make access even easier. A low profile motor option would be good as well. Like something with spot lock like the Old Towns. They did it almost perfect. So mimic that.

    • @Obxhatman
      @Obxhatman Рік тому +1

      @@midwestkayakco trust me , you do not want it on the front or the back. You want it just ahead of center. I'll tell ya why. It has to do with how the weight shifts in the kayak. You want the kayak to move with a motor but if you put it in the rear , and a steering cable breaks like a bixpy has , if you are standing , you are going over. if you put it in the front , thats better but still I would only put it there if it was 360 degree usable. If you mount it like the old town and its still 360 degree usable , the weight shift is more center mass , more controllable and the kayak is more precisely controlled in tight spaces and the prop is easier to clean off. You can still have a rudder and you can also make even sharper turns with that as well or be able to set the trolling motor , dead straight and do slight rudder adjust down a bank , while keeping the kayak angled at a odd angle to give you more of a 45 degree slant to a bank.

      @@Obxhatman Kayak tournament anglers has mounted the motor in the front(Motorguide Xi3) or Mount Newport NK180/300 to the back for years. It works.
      I’ve mounted NK180 on the right size of my Hobie Lynx after I seeing what Bixpy did. Yes, is a little bit heavy on one side. But it works.
      My point is we want options and flexibility with our kayak.
