Just by a little bit lol, I remember when Final Fantasy X got that book that threw everything out the window with Tidus and Yuna, I've been weary of old games getting updates after so long 😅
You can clearly see this other character has a more modern art style for her face. Tbh, I like the older look on Jade more. (Could be nostalgia of course)
Literally everyone hating over superficial details like narration or design never liked the original game when it came out and would've called it a shit zelda-like back then cuz you're all tourists to begin with. Seeing this whether or not BG&E2 happens is atleast some closure for fans like me since the gamecube era waiting for what the hell they were gonna come up with for such a cliffhanger ending for 20 years
Spoilers ahead for anyone who hasn't finished BGE: My theory is that the origin of the Domz goes back incredibly far in history and that Jade - being their source of life / power - was either the creator of the Domz or was the descendant of whoever created the Domz (since the Domz have been on her trail for centuries, according to general Kehck) I think it's possible the Domz were corrupted at some point (due to their relation with the Pearls of Aramis) or they turned evil in nature for whatever reason. I think the dichotomy is that Jade is the light/good part of the Domz and that's why they covet her so much and wish to destroy her human part (as to free her Domz part / supernatural part) and feed of her boundless powers. It's also possible - if the Domz existed before Jade - that Jade was an experiment to mix human and Domz DNA and that their source of life / power was stored in her in order to keep it contained and away from the Domz. But it's confusing because Jade appears evil in the BGE2 trailer. So did they kill evil Jade, set the source of life of the Domz free which decided to be reborn as good Jade? Is her mother her actual biological mother? (they look very much alike) Too many things to theorize about lol
It's been so long now (first played as a kid in 2004) I prefer to just appreciate the loose threads as part of the worldbuilding that invites you to expand it youtself, but it's nice seeing people theorizing about it again. Did you only play it recently? :D
I hope if prequel gets completed we get even more backstory on who jade actually is this is such a beautiful and touching moment i just hope ubisoft can make the prequel amazing and if that does good they could make a sequel as well but ubisoft lost the magic that once made them so great we need more of this kind of game that's why games like elden ring sit at the top of the gaming kingdom because they have that magic that drive that passion in their games come on ubisoft find that magic again look inside ubisoft and reclaim that greatness you once had
I don't think it's some kind of magical thing. It's just a cold, bureaucratic decision from Ubisoft. For years, they wouldn't let Michel Ansel make a sequel, and then they just kicked the creator of the universe out. They tried to make it seem like he was bad and toxic, and that affected the development, but the truth is, he's been denied work on his game for years, and the sequel is still stuck in production hell, even without a "toxic" game designer
@falconeshield I'm thankful for this game if second one materializes I know it'll be dei trash but this first one is something I'll always cherish as the only thing I ever liked from ubisoft but not because of the company but because back devs had more creative freedom and weren't a slave to esg or dei but could make a game from the heart honestly ubislop needs some kbups or starkos because they low on morals and intelligence these days
Ok I agree that this pretty hamfisted scene is jarring (the rustic original style is nowhere near the mom or the 'dream' sequence lol) but the fact this tiny addition exists - written, designed, animated, VOed over a new ost song - tells me we're not crazy for thinking of this game after years of hype and disappointment. Some people on Ubisoft's side still have business with this series, which comforts me since most of the info for the sequel are hyped up E3 spots from 8 years ago. I lose composure whenever I hear 3 notes from any BG&E song in a random space, Home especially. Long game dev times aren't new but I'm sure the one thing we're not getting before GTA 6 is BGE2.
The problem is that no matter when the second part is completed, it is most likely doomed. At least for the players. The sequel has already fallen into production hell twice, lost its founding father, who built this whole story with the adventures of Jade and her magnificent uncle Page, and besides, all this shit with an agenda, strong independent women oppressing “stupid” men, will definitely penetrate into the game and other script crap that current Ubisoft, like other large companies, cannot do without. In a good way, the sequel should have been released back in the days when the PS3 and Xbox 360 were relevant. Now the moment has been missed and the game will inevitably fall victim to modern harmful trends that are ruining multimillion-dollar projects.
blah blah blah blah, if this game came out today you would be the type of person who cries and whinges and shits their pants because its woke as the main character is a none white female. So stfu, go back, play the game again and see how it is already all these things you worry about and then please please realise its not a bad thing. That it didn't matter in 2003 and it shouldn't matter now.
@user-dq4bh6kb8h yeah I'm similarly afraid of Farah's agency in prince of persia remake given also ubisoft. Was funny in original when she killed me with an arrow and I only had enough time to rewind so it would replay my loss 🤣. Shame ps3 POP trilogy isn't on modern console and is physical only. At least beyond good and evil is readily available without a Nintendo heavy price, though I'm good with HD xbox 360 for $3. 0:55 may make Jade and that woman a pirate like Aloy in that horizon forbidden west dlc lol so forced with no choice for no despite 3 things 😂.
People are allowed to be "negative" and this scene is pointless fanfiction. As will be the sequel if it ever comes out, because the original devs are all gone and they are the only ones that had the true vision.
Characters the 2020’s half-shave haircut are always an omen. The model overall also just doesn’t fit with the game’s art style. She’s modeled like a telltale character.
Yeah, next I play this game. I will ignore this added content. It's dumb and ruins the first by trying to forcefully the squeezing in the smallest things to make a connection between the two games.

Wow.. Jade's "mom" is straight out of 2024. 😂
@robotorange747 correct, not African.
Because of course she is, just look at who ubisoft is hiring these days.
Not going to consider this canon, it's that easy.
0:14 to 0:36 Jade's face is completely different

Nah I liked the original and that's why this scene is rubbish.
It's not superficial, it's evidence that the sequel is in bad hands.

A mother 🧑 and daughter 👧 moment
It basically confirms that the game is still in development, so I assume the woman is the chick from the Beyond Good & Evil 2 trailer.

modern writing - bloated dialogue, I fear they will make this story too complicated.
