To give you an idea of what happened on the drama. Guy shows up an hour before the store opens and gets on the list. He waits until the store is about to open and hangs out near the door. The employee opens the door, lets 2 folks in, and then locks the door. She opened the door and that guy just walked in with the #1 in line. The second guy in line just froze and was stunned for a few seconds and in that time she locked the door and went in to check those 2 folks out. By the time the rest of the line realized what had happened he was already checked out (it only takes a minute or two) and it was too late to really do anything about it.
The employees were apologetic because they didn't know but nothing anyone can do once he has checked out.
It's honestly not about the bottle! TJ would've bailed my out of county
lol, there were a couple of people there that needed to be talked down but it was too late.
What bottles did the jerk get? Did he get the 107 from the 12th person?
He got a Blanton's and a Buffalo Trace.
@@Brewzle rookie
For the record, Weller Antique and Weller Special Reserve are both 12 to a case.
As soon as he said he’d need two cases I was like “why?” Good call
Yeah, I was just thinking about the time I was 7th and was out of the Weller Full Proof. Didn't realize that the 107 was 12.
Definitely need more allocation drop videos! Great video, TJ!
i never would've thought people get excited for whiskey to come out. i'm so intrigued
People tend to get way too into whatever hobby they are interested in, this one is definitely no exception.
you should see how crazy people here in northeastern Iowa are for specialty craft beer. specifically Toppling Goliath brewery and pulpit rock brewery. people waiting in line for 12 hours in the dead of winter. ice fishing tents lined up on the sidewalk. it gets crazy!
Crazy enough here in MA Weller 107 and Special Reserve were in the regular aisle lately at a large chain for roughly MSRP. There was limit 1, but that is understandable. I was glad to get lucky and buy them. The smaller "mom and pop" stores charge 3-5x for these limited bourbons and it's infuriating. Blanton's behind the register for $300 is just absolutely comical and I wish there was a way to control that.
People lose their minds over Blanton's and it just makes the effort not worth it.
There was a store that got a pallet of owa store pick, was there months, granted this a few years ago.
thinks were very different a few years ago.
Camping outside for bourbon is such a foreign and weird concept to me, let alone buffalo trace products which i rarely enjoy. They arent common here but ive passed on allocations (especially bt ones) so many times even at msrp. Its just whiskey. Also weird to see angels envy rye on the list they posted, thats just a standard product around here (and one i think has a lot of additives in it). I mean if thats how somebody wants to spend their time in the morning more power to them but my time is worth so much more than a blantons or 107 to me. Im sure you get to meet some cool people at least.
It's a lot of fun. I spend almost all of my time working and making content (100+ hours often per week) from home. I love any reason to get out of the house at this point and combining a few things I enjoy (people, bourbon, creating a video).
@@Brewzle as long as you enjoy it, the rest doesnt matter
Spouting your own opinion like it is an objective truth is such a foreign and weird concept to me, let alone not even being asked for it. You sought out this video yet you're judging and calling this man weird for doing something he enjoys? How weird of you
🤷🏿♀️ I would NEVER wait in line for anything anymore...
I'm done with the insanity and disappointments!
Great video!👊🏿
The liquor seller from my province (LCBO)got quite a few hundred bottles of the Antique 107 in today. But they go quick. Was able to grab a bottle for $70CAD retail.
I can get Special Reserve 24/7 365 but almost never see Antique anymore. I am fine with SR on a daily basis. You can chase Antique if you want to. I would drive 30 minutes to get a bottle if I knew a place I could get it for retail price.
This is shocking to me. Alabama needs a big overhaul when it comes to their liquor laws.
Honestly can’t imagine waiting for hours for Weller 107
You don't have to imagine, I just showed you! It's fun, life isn't that serious. I couldn't imaging trekking over a mountain to shoot a deer, but people do it and enjoy it.
@@Brewzle you need food, you can live without Antique
@@jeff3putt and other foods don't require hiking up a mountain. Its a loose comparison. These brown water boiz in the comments are wild 🤣
@@omegawolf321 a good size deer can supply a lot of meat for a long time, 2 deer, maybe more than a year....
In Louisville Kentucky, I was at a Best Buy and decided to walk to a Total Wine on a Sunday at 12:55 right before they opened at 1:00. Only 3 other people waiting around before me. Just so happens they had a Buffalo Trace drop and I got a Weller Antique. Best last minute decision of my life.
I'm from Indiana and I've never seen one on a shelf. Drove through Kansas the other day and stopped at 1 store. I asked the lady for a Weller 12 and got laughed at. But after a a 10 minute talk she walked in the back and grabbed me a owa 107. I was a happy customer.
two bottles per person, with 45 people in line is rediculously unfair. One per person should be the rule everywhere, so everyone gets something
They have to be 2 different bottles, FYI, but fair enough
I would agree it should be one bottle per person and you can get back in line at the end of the line until everyone gets done buying what ever they want. If it’s 10, 20, or 50 people it’s fair.
@@brandonjones6703 life isn’t fair
@@jbmlkthat's just what lazy people say
This is what happens when you get participation trophies as a kid.
Life isn’t fair, you got to work hard to get what you want. No one is promised anything
Great Video.Interesting to see the drama whiskey lovers will go thru. Cheers brother
Thanks! Is a bit over the top but still fun.
Do you know if NC does drops like this? If so, how do you find out when/where/what will be dropped?
64.99 here in MA. Can find it 2-3 times a year from the store managers. Each state is different.
Not worth an overnight stay for sure.
This is a state run system, there is no finding it from store managers unless you work the small gas station liquor stores but they usually mark it way up.
I have a bottle of Weller Antique and I have been saving that bad boy
Here in Ohio OWA used to flow like water, even smaller kroger stores would get 3-4 cases weekly, now it’s a delicacy and hasn’t dropped in weeks 😅
They're dropping all over Dayton right now. Picked up a bottle today after missing out at 2 other stores last week.
@@frostyheat22 yeah its been popping up every week since this comment lol
Weller 12 came in a case of 12 so im assuming 12 I work at a liquor store
I can’t see myself getting up early and waiting for a bottle. But I have done this for a pair of Jordans lol
man im about to give up on all this crap. i cant find anything here and its just getting too crazy with secondary prices. whatever is on the shelf is what i have to stick with. ALL THE HYPE IS KILLIN THE MARKET!
Lots of great bottles on the shelf, though.
This is a really strange hobby.
Been subbed since before our boy had 4k subs and I gotta say I love these longer form videos. The sweet car, the man on the street interviews and the in depth explanation of how bourbon hunting works all makes for a really top notch viewing experience. This legitimately feels like it could be a full fledged TV show
Couldn't agree more! Fantastic content
Thanks for the lists its really helpful, Its so daunting when there's such a choice some people make the mistake of maybe picking an expensive one and the flavour style is not for them and their put of forever your doing the industry a huge service
I'd love one of those Blanton mini's! never had one. but I don't think I would have waited in a line like that to get one. anyone want to trade one? 😃
Send me an email
I’m gonna be in Alabama for Talladega in a couple weeks and need to find a few good bottles while I’m in town, what store should I go to while I’m in Birmingham?
Sucks that happened but it happens for everything with a line. Limited edition shoes have the same line up style and mostly everyone is respectful but I can’t tell you how many times I couldn’t get my size because someone cut the line last minute.
That's rough
107 is something I’d pay extra for (probably up to $100), but no way would I wait hours in line over it. Then again, I might feel differently if some of that time were spent getting content for a UA-cam channel. Good stuff, man. My coworker turned me on to this channel and I’m enjoying watching your bourbon hunts!
The hat was too flat
If you ever want any there's always some on shelfs around here for retail just give me a shout
I think the guy who bumrushed the line knew an employee in there who was working that shift...that, or he paid somebody off who works there..either one.
Weller 107. Makers wood series is better and 100x easier to find. I don’t play these games.
I like games, they are fun.
@@Brewzle can’t argue with that 😂
I’ve been watching you on TikTok before I go to bed usually, glad I’d ran into your UA-cam today.
I walked into the store this past Wednesday after work and saw one last bottle of Weller 107 and was so freaking excited man. It was slightly over MSRP at 64.99 but i never see this stuff and had to buy it.
Thanks for sharing the experience. Where i live these were all shelf bourbons until about a year ago. All good stuff but im only standing in line for william larue weller. Stuff like this ill get on secondary and stay k bed all morning
Dang I got two liquor stores within 1 and a half miles of me with Blanton’s, Antique 107, and Eagle Rare just in stock. Too expensive for me, but they’re sittin there.
I'm sorry, I might be dumb but why do I keep hearing people talk about Buffalo Trace? Here in Colorado it's super easy to find and is $30... are they going for some special batch? Or is it just much more difficult to find there?
Why go through all this bs? It's the 21st century, not waiting Peter Frampton tickets in the 70's. Online pre-order maybe? Crazy.
I’ve never been to an allocation drop day, and, as a fellow Alabamian, this doesn’t make me feel good about it.
Sorry about that. It’s a lot of fun really
As of today...3/31/23...there are 3 stores in ohio that have it listed as "limited supply" 🤷♂️
I put Weller 107 out at multiple parties and not one person liked the taste. Smells great but just wasn't well received. Weller full proof on the other hand was a BIG hit.
I get that tastes are different, but I personally like the 107 a lot. Full Proof is only 7 proof points higher.
I know that’s supposed to be the only difference but the full proof seems a whole lot better. By the way, your videos are a fun watch, thanks for the effort. I like the flat hat.
This is everything wrong with bourbon. 15 years ago I was blending better whisky than this into coke. They’ve absolutely conned drinkers into standing in line for what used to be everyday bottles. If this continues it will be bad for the industry as a whole. I’ve moved on to scotch and rum, as they represent better value for the money and time.
This is fantastic as I’m also a bourbon loving resident in Alabama.
That's awesome! Have you got any good bottles from the drops?
@@Brewzle just the overhyped usuals. I recently stumbled onto two Blanton’s at very near retail. Never owned a bottle and the other was for a gift. Surprisingly they weren’t from the drops at the ABC stores.
My favorites found in AL though have been a BS SiB Four Roses store pick and one of the 2022 ECBPs. I can no longer find any RR SiB (picks or regular) in my area, one of my favorites. Just have to fall back on 101 and Rare Breed but happily, and continue looking when I travel.
I scored a find last week. I bought 10 bottles of Blanton’s last week at $75 each. Standing in line for hours just to get one seems insane to me.
How does one use the bathroom? People leave, come back, and resume their spot? How do the early guys handle the later guys who line form. Do they make the later guys back up so the early guys are front of the line?
I’m lucky I guess. I found a 1979 old weller gold vein from a private seller.
So, if I’m driving through Alabama and see folks lined up at a liquor store, can I get in line and get a bottle if I’m not an Alabama resident?
On the shelves in australia for $316USD ($479AUD)
🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑
Thank God I don’t live in one of those states. Camping out for these bottles is crazy.
They have Antique 107 in multiple stores in ohio. Come bourbon hunting with me over here
Your thumbnails are incredible lol!
Thanks!
Sucks when people act like jerks in these situations. Not nearly enough people have been punched in the face when acting like jerks to learn a lesson.
I walked in to my local pavilions and saw this bottle on the shelf’s for 65$ limit one 🎉
Up here in Canada we're lucky to get any whatsoever, they recently had a whiskey release in my province and they had 2 cases of Weller full proof, they had to raffle the bottles off like 300 people for 24 bottles
Yeah, each market is very different for sure.
I had no idea people camp out// wait in line for bottles to be released. Must be some good stuff.
There are scalpers out there causing people these issues. If it were just for personal bottles there would be no issue, but the secondary market is getting out of hand.
That's a dope driving hat. Forget how it looks, how does it FEEL?
The OWA, SR, EHT SB, ER 10, Blantons (plus a pick) dropped in Ontario. Due to it being a government control province these were available online only and 1 each only. Literally thousands of them dropped and other than the Weller SR were gone in a few hours. The SR bottles are still available because nobody wants them. Like you OWA is a daily sipper for me so I like to have 2-3 handy to last until the next drop. I usually only grab an OWA
Can't beat that OWA for a regular.
This is honestly ridiculous
Life is ridiculous.
I wish it was my regular sipper. I have a bottle but i holding onto it best I can.
*Liquor store by me let me buy 4 bottles.. @ $115/bottle. Blew my mind*
If you get a priority number when you sign up why can't you go home til the store opens?
What happened to your driving hat? Thought you were going to change it up...And the cuts did not go unnoticed. Nice touch.
The hat I was wearing when I bought the car? Still have it, was looking at something with a bill but still uncertain about it.
I was thinking Burl Ives on the hat. A positive with a Lincoln.
Never seen 107 in the wild in Illinois
I wouldn’t even line up for the 12….CYPB and SiB yes.
Yeah, but around here you'd have to wait in line for 2 nights for either of those.
I miss buying this off the shelf at $24.95
I’m surprised they don’t make you sit outside the entire time. How do you know if someone sign up on the list and leaves?
Happens, but people keep an eye out for that and will Mark them off the list if they are gone for very long
The 107 and special reserve is 12 packs and the rest are 6 packs
I wanna get this bourbon, also the knob creek 18!
Should put up a do not sell to sign with a mugshot of that guy on the store wall of shame
Not digging that hat. Classic Fedora perhaps?
The shit us as humans need to go through just to get what we want in this life 😅
I find it fascinating that Wiskey has a “drop” so to speak. I had no idea the extent of whiskey world but I’m more interested now.
Its interesting to see but not experience. Camping out all night for Wellers or blantons is WILD!
@@mrphenom1643 I love it when people are genuinely interested in something just for the joy of it.
107 definitely comes in a box of 12.
I'll get you some for retail haha. It's 45 ish in ohio
Love your car! It’s beautiful!
Do you ever feel like they hold back to drive the price up?
How do you find out when allocation days are ?
This thumbnail is genius.
Absolutely a GREAT video. I missed the drop because I was out of town but it was great to see it.
Thanks!
Damn. Ohio gets it every other weekend
God I’m glad I live down the street from BT and they are readily available 1-2 times a week :)
You just need a horse and buggy with that hat.
Is 3 am good enough to get something auburn?
Brother never seen anything like this before ... Lining up for Whiskey ... this is GOLD !!! Weller Antique 107 saying 400 bucks here in Australia ... is that correct ..
love the video Hat does need a bit of a bend though
They have it just sitting in Ohio, always state min too haha.
At some point soon I'm going to Ohio to test that theory. I may need a bigger trunk if it's readily available.
Alcoholic community coming together
early times is on the list....really.....
Roll tide! Got a bottle at the government store
In California, 95% of the places that get the "good stuff" mark up the price. The CHEAPEST I've seen Blanton's in California in the last 5 years is $150. Weller Special Reserve is occasionally available at $30 or less, but 107 runs around $100
I got a wellers at my local shop for $229 lol
Dude, you really gotta get out of the Bible Belt. Every single thing that you make a video of I can get 10 of on any given day here in Miami. No BS.
3:21 Even Superman (Christopher Reeve) seems to like his bourbon
I found an unopened, sealed Weller Antique 107 in the old style Antique label and bottle from 2000.
It was in my bar. Is this a different Bourbon? Says distilled and bottled by Weller and Sons on the label.
I found a couple old Blantons too.
That looks like a plantation owners hat 😳
Brew I'm in my office. Ready for the video!
Hope you enjoy!
Holy cats. Here in the land where god has not forsaken us you can just walk in to the stores and grab bottles of OWA and blantons off the shelf.
Sure you’re going to pay more but time is money too.
Time is money but we waste time on all sorts of things that are fun. I can buy fish in the grocery store for pretty cheap, but have you ever been fishing?
