it’s a shame psychology has become so scientific and sterile, we need more thinkers like Lacan, Freud, Jung, Rank, Horney, and Becker!

YES. Psychology was essentially a move towards the rational concerning metaphysics, philosophy, human behavior and genuine understanding. IDK how much understanding could be obtained from empirical, scientific and sterile approaches. Some things humans think can not be explained with words but must be explained with images. Humans are creatures of God and I think that God has a role in the direction humanity is going to some degree ona macroscopic level, so religion should play a role also in understanding humans. There are still yet more things to be learned and discovered about humans. There are primitive aspects of humans people ignore and then their are aspects of modern humanity that have effected humans that also have been ignored. Humans are always evolving but still always have some base unto which man must respect, learn from and use.

I literally just had this convo today and agree. The worship of science is ironically part of the societal dumbing down to keep people stuck in their egos identifying with a diagnosis doled out to appease an insurance company. CBT is a mockery of basic principles delivered by the sages.

They exist, they're just in philosophy now.

Freud never had a grand child called Hans...Hans a the name of an infant patient he treated....at that level, you'd expect some measure of exactitude.

I dont know who posted this, that is I dont know you Christopher, but this masterclass blew my mind. Especially the part about literature being metonimic in its nature. Thanks so much.

i saw this same lecturer discussion the neo-pragmatists in another video. Can someone point me in the direction of the full series that seems to be implied by these multiple videos?

So whenever someone says something you like, it’s a case of “an actual teacher teaching”?
