    That;s too cool. if my buddies and I had thought of something like that back in the '70s I'm sure I'd be dead now.

    That's awesome Pop!!! But I must say... I thought for sure you were gonna ride that thing down at least once. :)

    You’re gonna kill your tree if you don’t put anything to pad the wire

    Thank u for this great info! You actually make a lot of sense on not doing what instructions say cuz it’s a lot of garbage that doesn’t make sense. Your taking this a step ahead on making it safer for the kids! Great job and great video. Thank you from El Paso Tx.

    What is the spec for the cable, and the added chain. Looking to build a zipline based cargo line with a zipline for the "rail" and a winch attached to the bucket to reel it back up the hill. I assume ill need a bigger cable. Thanks so much for the excellent explanation and thorough review of personal experience.

    Hi, great video. what are the ropes you have attached to the end of the line to stop the rider from hitting the tree?

    Thanks! Gotta build this Christmas eve evening after the kids go to bed, and just realized I'm going to need to extend a good 5-7 feet. Exact same model and setup.

    how do your children stop without hitting the tree at the end of the ride? Is there a brake?

    • @PopsQuest
      @PopsQuest  9 років тому +2

      The pulley that rides on the able hits the cable clamp which is about 4 foot from the tree. This is why having the xtra few feet of rope at the end works well, if you go around the tree with the cable, hitting the tree is a problem.

      is there a way to make any sort of 'homemade brake point' that is farther away from the termination tree? i have a retaining wall just below that tree and i'd ideally like to stop about 5 or 6 ft away. instead of relying on the cable clamps (which certainly wont be 6 ft away) can i put some sort of other clamp or something at the point i want to have the same effect?

      Drill a hole in a piece of wood that has some eyebolt on it, thread the block of wood through the wood block before attaching it to the far end. Attach bungee cords to it is what a lot of people do but in that scenario you would need another tree near the end that you could attach the other end to. Some people drive a stake into the ground and use several bungee cords but it is trial and error as to where the stake goes

      Adventure Parks sell a compression spring for braking I know it's an old question but I was looking into this right now and thought if someone else was looking into this it's nice to have options

    What type of knot did you use around the tree at the low end of the zipline?

    • @PopsQuest
      @PopsQuest  4 роки тому

      It's been so long ago but probably a Boline knot
