Nice video , Wildwood is a great place . Go there every year and its only 60 miles away. Those Tram cars are from the 60s. Sams pizza it a nice place to get pizza for sure. in the summer time , you cant move on that boardwalk. Thankx for the video.
I always wonder what kind of motor they have in them, and if they actually have the original motors. If they do ... holy sheeeeeeet ... those things have probably clocked in a few million miles each, or more!
So those trams currently running are over 68 years old, and still operating? Will those trams need to be relaced with new ones soon? Guess they think those trams are so historic like the cable cars in San Fransisco, that they keep refurbishing them instead of brand new ones.
Spaceshotx7 Those trams are the originals from the 1939 New York world's fair. Hopefully they will never be replaced. So much Wildwood history has disappeared, it would be a sad day if the trams were ever replaced.
I can't believe those trams are over 78 years old. Guess those historic trams have a lot of history to them. I wonder how do they maintain those old, antique trams?
Spaceshotx7 they replaced the diesel motors with electric soon after arriving in Wildwood and run on rechargeable batteries. They added about 5 more newer trams over the years, all but one were built to a similar design. Sunny the Tram is the poor ugly thing that looks like it should pull luggage carts at the airport. All the originals are still in use and needed to maintain the current service interval.
Yes it's like a glorified golf cart in a way, and it tows the little passenger carriages behind. They aren't on any track - thus the driver has to steer.
"Watch The Tram Car Please."

Uhh... why is the Mister Softee next to the Boardwalk Mall not playing it's jingle?
I was in Wildwood NJ around that time in 2015 I probably walk passed you and didn't pay any attention lol.
interesting but cool.
I presume the tramway is a narrow-gauge light rail track, complete with flangeways, set into the boardwalk? The rails look flush with the woodwork.
It's basically a battery powered that has cars behind it, and has rubber wheels
