    This video will undoubtedly not be for everyone. It's an overnight red-eye that doubled not only as my flight to MIA, but also my hotel for the night. So, there's not much to see anyway, and I was directly over the wing due to picking a premium economy seat so I could get some sleep. This is also one of the rare times I used a mount to film a flight. I have yet to master the art of sleeping and filming at the same time 😂. So the cruise portion of the flight was filmed with a mount. Not that it makes any difference, as you can't really see anything haha. It is also worth noting, that this is the first and only time I've ever filmed a reverse operations takeoff at LAX, so that's cool! Anyway, if this one isn't for you then I understand, but it will definitely be a favorite for those of you use my videos to help sleep as the screen is dark for most of the flight and there wasn't any loud passengers around me. Enjoy!

      Yo man no need to worry we’re all human and get tired. I have no idea how you even do what you do without randomly falling asleep cuz I know I would 😅. If you ever need to take a break for a day or 2 or even more trust me we’ll all understand! Regardless though, appreciate the dedication!

      White noise was low in the cruse, there are other plane trips where the white noise goes loud

      That's likely because of my seats position. The wing blocks a lot of the engine noise.

    Sitting in that area, it reminds me of when I flew on Japan Airlines Boeing 777-346ER. I was sitting in 18A and 18 K, on that area of the 777, where you were sitting. (Hopefully, you understood what I meant...)
    Also, noise environment during takeoff and landing, added character... You hear the gear up as you lifted off.
    Anyway, great, unique, area of the aircraft, the wings may block views of terrain, but I liked the environment.

    Would it be possible for you to make a playlist with all night flights? I love them to fall asleep to but they are hard to find on your channel since you can't search for or filter them directly.
    I am aware that there is a "Full Flights for Sleeping" playlist but it's a mix of day and night flights which also excludes videos such as this one due to it being under 6 hours. I know this is a highly specific request with little demand but it would be a nice addition to the channel!

    Hey Skylite!
    That's a beautiful approach into Miami. I love night flights.
    Skylite... I might be having a silly moment here ( and I do have many 😅) ... But as you're descending, and coming in to land, what is ( or what is causing ) that row of lights on the leading edge of the wing. I can't quite figure that one out.
    It looks cool though!

    • @sla31
      @sla31  3 місяці тому +1

      So what you're seeing there isn't lights, it's light reflecting off the small strakes that are on the top of the wing to help airflow. With the way the wing flexes, you can't see them when you're on the ground, so it's easy to forget they're there. And then during the day they're hard to see because they're simply painted the same color as the wing. It's the wing and engine lights that are on the fuselage that light up the engine and leading edge of the wing for the flight crew that is reflecting off of them, which makes them look like a row of lights.

    • @resh..
      @resh.. 3 місяці тому

      How interesting! I was aware of the strakes on the nacelles, which we often see at work during takeoff, but didn’t realise there were any on the wing. Makes perfect sense though!

    • @sla31
      @sla31  3 місяці тому

      Either that or they were just blocked somehow. Sometimes the wings gave anti-glare shields that helps keep the wingtip lights from blinding the cockpit crew. I honestly don’t know if the 777 has anything like that or not, but I’ve seen them on tons of smaller jets. Something like that would block the view of the wingtip lights. • @sla31
      @sla31  3 місяці тому +3

      @OTRTrader well unfortunately, contrary to what @B.Launders said I have to be the barer of bad news here. American has actually publicly said recently that they intend to remove wide bodies from pretty much all domestic routes except Hawaii routes. Specifically sighting this flight between LAX and MIA as a major money loser for them. See, American doesn't have any of their wide body fleet configured fro domestic use like United does. So their wide bodies are premium heavy. This means that frequent flyers will purposely book these flights in a lower class, knowing full well they will get an upgrade because there's tons of premium seats. Here is a video explaining the whole thing: ua-cam.com/video/Hs6Mxl40WQU/v-deo.html As of now, September 3rd is the last day you can fly the 777-300 between LAX and MIA 😔.

    Great flight. Looks a bit far back though for Row 18.

    • @sla31
      @sla31  3 місяці тому

      It’s definitely row 18. People forget that American have 15 rows of Flagship First and Business on their 773. That plus the 4 rows of Premium Economy rake up everything you see here, as 18 is the last row of PE. This is why American is removing this plane from this route. It’s way to premium heavy for domestic ops and they are losing money every time it operates because people just buy economy knowing full well they’ll get an upgrade. September 3rd is the last day the 773 will operate the LAX-MIA leg.

    film some more red-eye flights!

    • @sla31
      @sla31  3 місяці тому

      It's true that in general, I don't take a ton of overnight flights because... Well, they're overnight haha. But, they're also the hardest flights to film for a variety of reasons. Sadly, there have been quite a few red-eyes I've taken that never make it to the channel. For example, I took an overnight red-eye from Tokyo to Singapore on an ANA 787. Well, the cabin crew never turned the cabin lights off. On a flight that departed at like 11pm. They were full blown on the entire 6 hour flight. This causes the cabin to reflect tin the window instead of being able to see what's outside.... So, that whole flight was scrapped because all you could see in the footage was the selection of the cabin. This has happened multiple times. I have a few more coming up later this year, so hopefully I'm able to film them.

    How come you always sit at the wing?

    • @sla31
      @sla31  3 місяці тому

      Well the simple answer is that I don’t. I sit away from the wing, either in front or behind, far more often than I sit over it. In fact, over my last 26 videos published only 5 have been over wing. So that’s less than 20%. In this particular case I sat directly over the wing because this flight was also my bed for the night. So I picked a premium economy seat (which are all right over the wing) so I could sleep 😂.
