the ge mod could really use some new aa emplacements for all factions, the attack helis are so op if the pilot knows what they are doing and because they are faster than transport helis, they are so much more annoying to shoot down and for factions like the canadian army, there is no hope in shooting down helis because slow firing ifvs + no 50 cals.
I’d recommend instead of orbiting to stay on station in an O-shape, incorporate real AH-1Z tactics and loiter in a 4-Leaf Clover route, maximizing time facing the enemy with dumb fire and hellfire munitions.
The only CAS heli I could remotely see in vanilla is UH-1Y that was in V3 and a Mi-8 for air assault and marines plus the MH-60M and the Lynx for the brits it all comes down to dumb rockets & door gunners with limited spawns for balance

Squad should become a full fledged war simulator. MANPADs, SPAA, actual pilots for jets, thermals, a realistic damage model for all vehicles, 155mm artillery, UCAVs you name it. It has a lot of potential
Messed around this this for about 5 minutes with a friend. Giggled for the first 3 minutes, felt progressively worse every minute afterwards. Felt unfair because it is. GE is such a badly made mod, and people ask for it in vanilla squad 😂 its good for shits and giggles, but i cant say i have ever had a good game of it

@@theborg6024 People enjoy these moments because 90% of the time they have to deal with the randomness of teams, SL's, Commanders, etc either whining or throwing their games because trying to get 50 people on 1 team to work together is like trying to put a cranky baby to bed. I do agree with you that GE as a mod needs to stay as a mod because there is plenty of broken material that doesn't belong in Vanilla Squad because it would only make people lone wolf more and make the experience overall worse for the handful of people who actually want to communicate and work together. Though real change will never happen with the constant battle over casual gamers and hardcore "milsim" players in Squad currently that is only hurting the playerbase and not growing it.

Not in the gg well done boys you had better teamwork, comms, and coordination way that I love to see and be apart of in squad. Instead in a completely unbalanced, absolutely fun sapping way. I'm really not sure what to think about this clip.... Like did you honestly have fun? If so was it still fun in the next 3 games you proceeded to ace our team. Do you think your armor and infentey teammates had fun whilst not getting a lick of enemy engagement.... Because our team definetly didn't. By the 2nd to last point we didn't even bother spawning in because honestly what was the point. Good flying and all but I will honestly tell you that I've put squad down for a bit after playing this match with you....

I've done a bunch of videos like this from Mods like SD, GC, and alike, usually to show that the skill of a very small group shouldn't have such a large impact on the match as a whole. In the current form, the CAS Helis in GE, even MI8 cas, etc. are in no way balanced, but that's modded squad for 'ya, lets just hope OWI learns this lesson from Mods instead of making the balancing mistakes themselves (throwback to UH-1Y on Skorpo)

You get over a target area you know you have to hit, and then dive upon the area to unleash rockets or just lose altitude and loiter around for your gunner to do the job. In PR, we've got man-pads. We can also put anti-air emplacement along with the tow. And finally, the scariest thing is an anti-air vehicle.

Manpads in correlation with a limited amount of counter measures for the helicopters would mean you want to be unpredictable as CAS, go in with pre-flares and get back out, not like in the video where we stayed in the same spot for minutes because be just kept an eye on their assets. The range at which the viper can engage is just too far for any SPAA/auto cannon to be effective, as much as it would look crap, a hard view distance limit like in PR might make sense to stop that, add more (literal) fog-of-war to keep helis on their toes

How do the pilot hellfires work? Do they just fire perfectly straight from where the nose of the chopper is pointing? I have hundreds of hours doing CAS in Project Reality, seems the implementation for CAS in GE is weird af lmao
There is andAA, people just dont want to play it. People just dont want to sit in the AA gun and wait. If they have one dedicated AA. Their wont be a single heli in the air. But everyone just want to be in the front. When you play AA, your just going to be alone by your self. Watching the sky. It is boring. That is why no one take it.
Not all factions have one I'd have to look and see if the opposing has one here but even with them the ranges his nose gunner is hitting these shots from with the atgm or the fact he can hover right above nose down and dump hellfires above your firing angle (or just dump HE at you since most SPAA are open top) make a single aa vehicle with no missiles or radar tracking etc at best a faint hope you will stop this helicopter. Pmuch all AA is gonna have to hit him multiple times to even crit him whereas a spray of HE or missiles basically one hit disables you and then he's reallllllly coming for you

I totally agree that sky-boxing is currently too powerful because of render distance for buildings, etc. I'd like to see a dense fog similar to how PR restricted view distance. But at what part in this video did we engage a target we wouldn't have been able to see? Anytime we were over the villages, airfields, all buildings were close enough to render.
