You´d be surprised to hear that this is actually played on a standard guitar. Ricardo only tuned some strings differently in order to bend them and reach for the microtones when necessary.
Yeah seems missing some of the micrones I'm used to from other versions. Still a great version! I think he's not able to do the required bend while playing other strings maybe
I agree to every word except "commercial" because westeners not being used to these oriental sounds has zero to do with commercialism and everything to do with culture. Even though mainstream music is indeed easy to listen to that is still just an unnessecary bashing.
@@Jan_von_S There is western music that isn't commercial that does use microtones tho. I'm pretty sure that's why they pointed to western commercial music not having microtones, because there is less commercial western music that does use microtones.

Bb2 and F#3 tones don't exist in the Guitar, they are Indian/Arabic tones inherited also in Turkish music. Anatomically guitar cannot support those tunes. They might have stretched one string for that specific tone. Whatever they did, its SOOO beautiful to hear turkish notes on the guitar.

Dan Williams That doesnt sound like that. I know Tolgahan and his microtunes but here the whole chord feels broken by the strings. The feeling is as Joaquin says a whole string/s.
King Gizzard aren't thieves. The song Sleep Drifter was heavily influenced by this piece and it contains similar motifs, but it is FAR from a 1:1 carbon copy. KGATLW took aspects of the song and made them into their own. There's a reason that they say that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.

I've heard this song elsewhere on a normal western guitar but it just ain't the same without the microtones. This here is my favorite version, by far.
