What an absolute nightmare to disassemble! I laughed out loud at times as your reactions were exactly the same as mine would've been.... especially with the soldering... AAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHH! 😂 Great video 👍
😲 I thought at first that all the build up was actually the "cursed design" of the iron ... It looked quite cool though. Anyway, awesome restoration on that one!
I thought that very same thing 😁 the handle looked like a Roman warrior riding horseback … or maybe Neptune 🤷🏼♀️ reading the rust was like lying in a field watching clouds lol
I'm so glad you liked it. Sometimes the original state of things surprises me a lot. Not knowing what will come out of it adds more excitement to the repair process.❤❤❤
Well done your fight with German technology paid off in the end. Looks great. That iron was made to last and you have extended its warranty hopefully for another century. You have shown real patience and determination.
I am very happy when I receive positive comments and feedback from you in return for my patience. I am very glad that you like it. Thank you very much.❤❤
Hello sir you was very patient this was a really difficult iron to take a part. I'd of sworn as well when that bit broke of. The end result was it looked magnificent you truly are a master restorer well done. Xx
Hello sir, sometimes my patience is very difficult, but I am satisfied with the result. This valuable comment made me very happy. Thank you very much. I am very glad you liked it.❤
It's amazing the integrity of the original piece was all intact. Almost as though the crustaceous metal forming around it was building a shell of protection.. you have amazing patience and you did a beautiful job!!
And now you know why that iron is still around. They truly made things to last back in the day. I think I yelled “Oh S-t !” Every time you bleeped. Beautiful restoration.
That was just incredible. Your patience, ingenuity, perseverance, and attention to every little detail was just so impressive. An absolutely incredible job. I am in awe.
Wow, you had to try every method to get those screws out! Great job restoring this. I'll bet that iron never thought it would see any more work ever again. Beautiful work!
That was alot of work. I think though if I had come across a piece like that I would have left it. The rust made it so much more interesting. The end result of your work is impressive. Great job. 😊😊
What on Earth was that poor iron buried in? Great restoration. My grandmother had one of these oassed down from her mother, not quite as fancy as this, but very very similar in the way it was made, meant to be filled with hot embers from the fire in the stove. The bottom of her iron was one of the smoothest things I've ever felt, no telling how many miles of clithing had polished it smooth. My other grandmother had a regular sad iron, that just had a heavy plate you heared up on the stove. It was so much lighter, but she was a seamstress, so she used hers a lot, every day. It was so cool to see you actually use the iron! I loved that part. I think it was worth all your trouble, after all.
Hello, my dear friend. I'm very glad you liked the video. This was the product when I bought it. The owners thought it could no longer be used and threw it away. After their grandmother passed away, they took it out of the warehouse. When I wanted to buy it, they sold it to me for a very cheap price. The two irons you mentioned are beautiful and special. They are lightweight. It is a better feature to have, especially since tailors use it constantly, it is more practical.I hope you still have those irons. The old ones are actually better quality than the products produced today. I love irons that work with coal or embers. They give more efficient heat and can be used for a longer time. I'm glad I could take you back to the past. Thank you for watching the video and sharing these precious memories with me. I am very happy and thank you.❤️❤️
The average person trying to restore that old iron would be an impossible task!! I laughed at your frustration because I thought I was the only one that tries a new task and it just won’t work! Thanks for a great video. Good job!,😊😊😊
New subscriber here. I’m amazed at the phenomenal work on these restorations! This one looked like the iron had been on the titanic at the bottom of the ocean lol, yet you managed to restore its original beauty. Excellent work making the impossible possible 😍😊
I saw you used firewood but my grandmother would use coal. This was a very enjoyable video. I like that you left in all the issues getting back to the original piece.
I’m curious where or how items such as this are found. Where has this object spent the last many many decades? Good job bringing it back in all its simple glory!
I'm very glad you liked it. Thank you very much. These products are either left to their fate on the roadside or thrown away, or people find them in the warehouse of their house when their grandparents die. When they are in bad condition, they think that they cannot be repaired and sell them at very cheap prices. I buy them too.❤
This appears to be a real restoration, not fake like 98% of the other “so called” restorations on UA-cam. I’m truly impressed with your skills and determination.

You are remarkably patient. I'd have pitchedthisthing through a window by now!

Genuinely thought the stuff on the outside was decorative at first, and almost had a heart attack when you started going at it with a chisel
It may be decorative in this form, but it is more useful in its finished form.😊❤️
