2019 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 - Accelerations, Fly Bys & AMG 4.0 Turbo V8 Sound

- This video is about the new GT3 racer of Aston Martin Racing. The Vantage GT3 2019 is powered by a Mercedes-AMG 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. Compared to the 2018 Vantage GTE, the turbo V8 has a more AMG deep bass rumble in the GT3 (maybe they didn't use the cross-bank exhaust manifold like in the GTE).
Watch three of them testing at Monza Circuit during a Curbstone test days event!

The car looks almost futuristic. That deep growl sounds nice.
I've seen the gray and black one up close it's an amazing car looks like it's sucking up the road :-)
I think this aston martin can communicate with the birds nearby by just chirping it's easily hearable turbo X)
He say " How are you guys? " in the bird language, everytime he pulls of the gas :D

Great video Bozzy! Wish the GTE sounds a bit more like this with a deep growl as you've said yourself, gives the car a more imposing feel with that sound along with its menacing look, plus its a good replacement for the soon to be gone sound of the old GTE Vantage... :(

What i meant to say is the Vantage GT3 races in LMGTE Pro category. Because I already know that gonna races in LMGTE Am.
I like how it sounds and looks. Hopefully it's competitive, too, because I always had a thing for Astons in GT racing.

The Vantage lost it's soul. From NA V8 and V12 to a very quiet german twin turbo V8. Sad times. And the V12 is gone from modern era racing... We still got the V10s from Lambo/Audi and Mercs 6.2 V8 in the AMG GT3 at least.
Its because the car is based on the DTM version and the engine also based on it in some aspects
not to mention the 911 RSR could be the last of it's kind, being the only modern day flat 6 racecar that's still running strong in this day and age
the merc engine is the same as in the aston btw
gotta disappoint you, the AMG GT3 is also 4.0l biturbo these days. Unfortunately...

In the production AMG GT we have the 4.0 V8 BiTurbo indeed.
it's kind of hard to get excited about GT3 cars with 4L twin turbo V8s
Still, you have to admit that both the Aston and the Bentley sound better than the horrendous BMW.
This and the Ferrari are tho only ones that sounds very quiet, the rest sounds pretty damn good.
still better than nothing. I mean racing is going to die in a few years anyway when they begin racing electrics.

Between the transmission and the turbos, off throttle it sounds like a spaceship. I like it.

Sounds like an AMG GT3, for obvious reasons, but a lot more quieter.

The exhaust note isn't great, but the turbo and tranmission whine sound nice!

I've watched some of these at the Zandvoort track last month and they sound like something out of Star Wars. It was insane, most sci-fi sound on the track when breaking before a corner.
why do manufacturers continue downgrade the sound quality of their cars? the V12 was a screaming banshee in the old vantage. this new one sounds like my morning farts
The new car is turbocharged. Turbocharged cars generally have a more muffled sound than NA cars.
It's sadly the downside to everything becoming turbocharged these days. From a power and efficiency standpoint, turbos are great. From a sound standpoint, not so much.
@@jannikmoller3705 Except turbocharged V8 cars like the Bentley still manage to have a good sound, with the very same muffler requirement in the regs. The Bentley actually sounds better than the old NA V8 in the AMG, in my opinion.
@@JMartinni There are more factors that play into that like exhaust routing and the engine itself. The Audi 4.0 V8 used in the Bentley is not the same as the Merc engine used in the Aston, even though both are 4.0 V8 TwinTurbo engines.
Maybe the sound difference between these to cars says something about their efficiency since turbochargers use the kinetic energy of the sound waves to produce pressure, which could mean the Bentley uses less of this kinetic energy. Just like Dr. Wolfgang Ulrich said: "Sound is unused energy"
My God , i've got to the point where i'm losing brain cells reading these comments. "why do manufacturers continue downgrade the sound quality of their cars" ... this engine is literally better in every imaginable way than the old one, apart from the sound. Why do you think they went for it?
Its basically a turbo charged AMG GT3 Since it no longer has an Aston engine (but merc engine). Hardly an "Aston" anymore......Nice video thought, OP
There is more to a car's identity than the engine.
It has zero in common with the AMG GT3. Even the engine isn't the same

the sound confuses me a little, I know it's an AMG V8 but sometimes it sounds almost like a V6

I do like this sound it’s nice but I do wonder what GT3 will sound like in 5 years time. Presume the next generation AMG GT3 will use this engine and there are rumours that Audi might move to a turbo too for their next R8

No the AMG GT3 has a 6.3 L V8 natural aspirated engine, this is twin turbo (4.0 L i think)

Thanks for the video. The car sure looks a lot better then the road version where i am not a fan of the weird nose. But man does it sound bad. Sounds like a a floppy ass farting, at least on video. Same syndrome as the AMG imo.

How is that possible? The downshifts on the Aston Martin sound great but when it starts accelerating it sounds like shit.
