Honestly I feel bad for Vegeta. At base he's an epic prideful warrior, but look deeper and he's a broken man, traumatized as a child through Frieza's evil ways and made to forever doubt himself. You could tell here that he was basically clinging to Goku for dear life for this because without a rival, he couldn't prove his strength, and in his mind at the time, without strength, he didn't have pride, and without pride he had nothing. Goku may be the stronger fighter, but Vegeta is WAY deeper.

Seeing Vegeta near the verge of tears because of Gokus death is heart breaking, I know it’s mostly to test his strength but it shows he does still care
Well, the number 1 theory Vegeta doesn't title himself "King" is because of his respect towards his deceased father, King Vegeta. Despite the show never going too deep into their relationship and it jumps between showing Vegeta admire him as a kid to him not showing reaction when hearing about his father's murder, it's still obvious he respects his father. The title was never passed on to him officially by his father ( because the king was murdered), so he doesn't call himself that. It’s because without Goku that form Trunks is in doesn’t possibly exist. It’s not that he doesn’t care about Trunks it’s just Vegeta needs Goku to be the best possible version of himself. The same way Goku needs the serious side of Vegeta to stop messing around when the time is right.

Some people don’t understand the kind of chills this will send down you spine, across your cheeks, in your lungs. The amount of pain this man went through alongside goku, the amount of changes he made and the power he’s gained from it all. Definitely one of the most driven characters in all of anime, even he himself was never able to stop him self from becoming greater and greater no matter what the obstacle was.
funny how you reference "chills", the same thing that is depicted in these asian animes as "aura" and in fact, which buddha described as nimitta, a factor which arises when you purify (like Goku, sexually) and enter Jhana 1 (sayan 1) and go up to Jhana 4 to liberate.. when all gods kneel before you and ask for your wisdom... those chills you feel - Buddha taught people to train them, but it has been perverted these days as sitting around idly ("meditation"). or which the crucifixtion of Christ, your seed, is all about, by you leading it up your 33 vertebrates into your golgotha, through celibacy.. but this has been perverted as well. turn sayan, you ape. this is your destiny. sun wukong aka Goku aka humanity is the epitome, when God created the final vessel, the human body, it called all other life forms to bow down to his temple, you are the indwelling of God, you, the one who fuels your thinking and your self-identification, that thing deep in the background and fully transparent, that is your "true" nature. when you hit it, you liberate. but you cant talk about it. its ineffable. the goal to turn sayan (enter jhana / "kingdom of heaven" / "samadhi" / "hal" / "zen") is all about this. in this series, its depicted with the flavour of battling or fighting. this is the fight against the serpent, which is symbolic of lust. overcome it and be at rest, eternally freed from suffering, having left the allegorical cave of Plato. Sorry for the rambling! Train your chills. Those chills can make you levitate objects, walk through walls, fly, teleport, create things out of thin air, etc. its the juice behind true magic. Only faint traces are found in degenerates, degenerated due to continually wasting the fuel (cristos)... so stop and be whole (holy). stop eating the forbidden fruit and turn back.

Vegeta is my favorite Dragon Ball character, and always had been since I was little. The Prince really had the Best character devolvement in all of dragon ball. From Evil Chaotic, To Neutral Chaotic, To Neutral Good, and Now Good. I would never say Lawful, but give the man some credit, his family he helped build changed him forever. Even he said it.....he just stood there and watched as his greatest rival sacrificed himself. He watched a fellow brother in arms fall.......that impacts a different way
I’ve played this video about 1000 times and every time it hits deep. Vegita had huge respect, admiration and idoled goku. Goku was his purpose of strength.

@@juanur4722 No you have it wrong, Vegeta doesn't have the talent Goku does clearly. It has nothing to do with training regime as Vegeta goes just as hard if not harder than Goku. @@bombkita remember vegeta is a high class warrior, he always trains the same and goku does different, check the manga and the broly movie, vegeta is mor powerful than goku now cuz they train together

@Octavio Actually you are wrong about that If Vegeta didn't care about his own family he wouldn't have Bulma as his wife and have baby trunks during that time in the cell saga Vegeta simply prioritized fighting cell And he knows that Bulma can handle herself she is a billionaire and she has her own method of protection it's just that when Goku's sacrificed himself Vegeta fell into depression and lost the will to fight so at that point he temporarily abandon his own family still questioning his own existence However when Vegeta heard Goku was coming back to life to fight in the world tournament Vegeta was truly happy He's not entirely a heartless person Vegeta just has a very tough time showing emotion due to his pridefulness as the Prince of saiyans lol
“How could you die like that” sacrificing himself with a smile on his face, vegeta didn’t understand it and he missed his brother but 7 years later he also sacrificed himself with a smile on his face for his family and for kakarot, their brotherhood is Fantastic.
Honestly, that's kinda why my favorite character is Vegeta. For the one who wanted to exterminate the human race, he was the most human character. He is Goku's shadow. Goku is the stereotypical _HERO_ . He fights for things like the world, where Vegeta simply thinks of himself, and his close ring of friends and family. Goku always gets lucky, gaining just enough power to beat an opponent most of the time. He is always better, Vegeta no matter how strong and how hard he fights, how many advantages he gets, he lulls behind him. Thats the most human feeling, to feel that greed, the want to be better but the hopelessness that you can't, but still persevering. Thats why I feel like so many of us want Vegeta to be stronger, at least one time.
Heads up for my boy Vegeta, the dude is truly heartbroken that he can't kill his frenemy and actual love interest Goku "the plot master" himself! Give some respect to Vegeta everyone!
I remember this when I was a in my teens i lost by bestfriend and this made me sad because we were always competing To be faster and stronger then each other we always ended in a draw 😭 and I lost my drive after I love you brother It's been 15 year now and this scene always reminds me...we were both big fans of DBZ.
These characters will always mean the world to me. 😢 brings back so many good memories as a kid. Collecting evrry vhs then dvd. Collecting every toy, amazing.
I really love the development that Vegeta has gone through. It hurt to see him suffer after Goku's death, but he forged on and carved his own path in life. He is a legend.
Vegeta is so human like. He goes through things, fights them off mentally and then finds a new resolve that gives him motivation to keep moving through life. Except that his creator hates him because even after all the motivation and new resolve, he still ends up taking an L.
Honestly I just wish Toyotaro and Toriyama would fix their treatment of him before Super ends (because the anime is just a cash cow at this point). He doesn't need to be stronger than Goku. It could be something as small as giving the big bad a hell of a beating (before they inevitably power up). But at least let the man have something to his name other than his Saiyan pride and ego.
But he did it because he had to. If Trunks was stronger than Vegeta wouldn’t have gone back to fighting until Goku returned, which would have made Vegeta so weak that he’d have never caught back up to Goku. Vegeta fought out of necessity after Goku died not because he enjoyed the fight anymore like he had with Goku around.
ONE of the BEST character development ever..this scene alone is why he always saves goku in last minute situations.. man’s is always saying if anyone is killing him it’s gonna be me.. but he has no interest in actuallly killing him

I think it actually shows even more the lvl of warrior honor ,pride and respect Vegeta possesses.
@@GhostInShell_ I’ve always thought this too. Cause he’s always repping the “PRINCE of all saiyans” title, come to think of it I can’t remember a time he said he was a king.

And his complexity is the polar opposite of Goku

I love the fact vegeta cared only about beating goku and not his son who was currently stronger

I came here for this comment.
So true Vegeta is pure motivation
funny how you reference "chills", the same thing that is depicted in these asian animes as "aura" and in fact, which buddha described as nimitta, a factor which arises when you purify (like Goku, sexually) and enter Jhana 1 (sayan 1) and go up to Jhana 4 to liberate.. when all gods kneel before you and ask for your wisdom...
those chills you feel - Buddha taught people to train them, but it has been perverted these days as sitting around idly ("meditation").
or which the crucifixtion of Christ, your seed, is all about, by you leading it up your 33 vertebrates into your golgotha, through celibacy.. but this has been perverted as well.
turn sayan, you ape.
this is your destiny.
sun wukong aka Goku aka humanity is the epitome, when God created the final vessel, the human body, it called all other life forms to bow down to his temple, you are the indwelling of God, you, the one who fuels your thinking and your self-identification, that thing deep in the background and fully transparent, that is your "true" nature.
when you hit it, you liberate.
but you cant talk about it. its ineffable.
the goal to turn sayan (enter jhana / "kingdom of heaven" / "samadhi" / "hal" / "zen") is all about this.
in this series, its depicted with the flavour of battling or fighting.
this is the fight against the serpent, which is symbolic of lust.
overcome it and be at rest, eternally freed from suffering, having left the allegorical cave of Plato.

These characters story and development so well written
Vegeta deserves a movie.
Damn. Imma be better, imma change and grow and reach mah goals.
