    I just started rock painting a few days ago. My eldest grandson & I share a love of dragons, so of course I had to try painting a dragon's eye. Your tutorial is extremely helpful. I am so happy with my first effort, I went to the store & bought a large bag of rocks so I can do more practice and less rock hunting. ;-) Thank you.

    Best tutorial on subject. And funny. Use compass to draw a perfect circle, but it doesn't have to be perfect. Use metallic green to make dragon eye look realistic!!!! - this one is a gem. Also bent brushes ☺ are funny

    And what an inspiration you are!
    I was at your Facebook page earlier and asked what finish you were using. Then I came to the conclusion that it must be resin. And here you are using a spray!!! Would you please tell me what the spray is and if it's different the crazy shine you got on those stones.

    I learned a trick from another acrylic artist....if you have an atomizer bottle (NOT a basic spray bottle....an atomizer bottle will make a finer spray) filled with water, you can lightly spritz to lengthen your blending time....have you ever tried this Rachel?

    I don't paint rocks but watching your videos I'm now interested. Where do you find or purchase your rocks?

    • @twocupscoffee3186
      @twocupscoffee3186 6 років тому

      You can get rocks from a variety of places. To purchase rocks go to your local landscape place. In my area, the landscape place sells us rocks for $2 per 5 gallon bucket. Or you can go to a hardware store that sells rocks, like Home Depot or Lowe's. Or you can pick them up from rivers, however be aware there may be laws about that where you live.

  • @cranefly23
    @cranefly23 5 років тому +1

    You mentioned the need to blend quickly because of the short drying time of acrylic paint. Do you ever use, or have you tried using, a retardant? Love your work.

  • @candykelly2705
    @candykelly2705 5 років тому +2

    Rachel, I sure appreciate the time and work you put into sharing your talent with us. You are a sweetheart. Do you thin your paint with anything or use it straight out of the bottle? How long have you been doing this? I'm going to try my hand at this but I have developed a hand tremor (66 y.o.) and I don't have the steady hands that you do. You have a great talent. Did you finish these off with only the triple thick Krylon glaze or did you put resin on them also? TY

      Thank you so much for your kind words!!

    • @rachelsrockscanada
      @rachelsrockscanada  5 років тому +1

      I do sometimes add a little drop of water to my paint if it's too thick but other than that the types of paint that I use have a pretty good consistency. I know there are things out there that you can buy that properly water down your paint but definitely talk to someone at a craft store about what to use. A medium like Floetrol could work.
