Trust me, you don't want to get there too quickly. Get more high 1st round picks to round out a roster rather than relying on free agency otherwise you might have the same kind of holes the Leafs and other teams have for getting too good too quickly. Tampa is a good model for how to do this.

Considering the blackhawks were basement dwellers last year and his line mate, foligno, has been a third/fourth liner and is now playing on the first line…I’d say bedards doing pretty damn good as an 18 year old on one of the worst offenses in the league last year.
