From what I understand of Gayle King is that she is what many people would call a “modern woman.” She may not have the attributes what we expect of an “elder.”
She is born in 1954 so she would be a boomer. The oldest boomers are now 78. The group of women from this cohort created the modern era of feminism you see today and the failed relationships that you see today is product of what they started and pushed for during the 60's and 70's. Unfortunately, these women are now have aged into being the elders.
@@doctorx1924It’s so crazy because my mother is a GenXer and has some views that modern women have but she never has been with anyone other than my Dad who she is still married to and family is more important than even her career. My Mom would not be caught dead dressing provocatively in any way. Same with my Dad, he is Baby Boomer who kind of has some “simp” views and is what some would call “blue pill” but he is fairly religious and conservative and raised me and brothers to be men. But of course, my parents aren’t the kind of people in the in the mainstream who allowed to represent the elders of our people.

If Gayle King was photographed by the paparazzi as she spent a day on the beach, that would be one thing. A non-advertisement swimsuit photoshoot, however, has no other purpose than to put the model's body front and center, s3xualizing her in the process. Such a display diminishes the dignity of a person (male or female) who should have a wealth of other attributes, besides s3xuality, to offer as a calling card.
This is not an either or proposition. The fact that mature adults are poorly represented by *FLAUNTING* their bodies *DOES NOT* mean that they are, or should be, ashamed of the state of their bodies.

At first I didn’t agree with but after comparing other cultures I get that you shouldn’t compare a nice looking late 60’s woman as compare to a below 40 year old woman. But at the same time, if you are a 50 year old single man with no children and never been married it’s hard to resist the temptation in wanting a date a woman who looks great at her age like a Gayle King, Halle Berry or a Christie Brinkley

This video randomly popped up in my feed for whatever reason and I don't understand the anger and condescension behind Gayle King doing a sports illustrated issue. Just because you look good for your age does not mean you are competing with someone of a different age. I admire the late great Joan Rivers who was very pro-looking your best at every age and I think that there is nothing wrong with looking good on the outside, being healthy, showing off how healthy and good you look, while still bringing a lot to the table. I don't understand this rant... all of these women you're showing have a lot to bring to the table.
The answer to your question is *ex. That is the driving force in a decadent and hedonistic society. Also, people aren’t getting married and therefore couples are not growing old together and therefore to be viable one must stay on the market or die miserable. Totally agree with you for the most part. I believe in aging gracefully. I think it’s a blessing to look young for your age, naturally. It’s also okay to enhance if you want, but not expecting to look like you did 30 years ago. That seems like you’re fighting with and running from getting older-when it’s inevitable-and there’s nothing wrong with it. I think the main issue is that women worry how we’ll be treated when we don’t look young anymore. When I was in high school, a couple times I felt like my mom was competing with me. She once did something that seemed innocent in front of a boy I liked. But it wasn’t. He caught it and laughed it off when she walked away (he was flattered), but it hurt and embarrassed me. At a time when she should have been teaching me about stuff like that, she was trying to see if she ‘still had it’ -at my expense. At the same time, I don’t think older women should be pressured into being wise elder and babysitter and all that, unless they choose it. Especially since that same pressure is not put on older men. Let older women be respectable, definitely, but if their only function (and value) is to live up to the expectations of others, whose life is it?

Vanity worship is a sickness. I'll always appreciate a woman's outer beauty, especially if it's a natural beauty but I'll never roll out the red carpet just because you look decent. The qualities in one's character and mindset will always hold more value.

Gayle looks good and it’s commendable that she taken care of herself into her elder years. However, as a whole, elders are not valued. Godly values are not valued. The superficial way of living where almost everything is driven by our mirror and what’s trending doesn’t promote deep thought or societal roots; which is what we desperately need. 💁🏽♀️
You can’t always blame media. The blame should also rest on the individual. As time moves forward into what I call “the devil’s era” individuals are becoming increasingly unaware of personal responsibilities. The more loose you are the more acceptable you become in society according to evil. All that’s happening serves a purpose. The key is to identify it and find out where you belong in the big picture. Play your role as far as being positive but don’t get involve in trends. Be in the world but don’t become a part of it.
In fact. We need to become the elders. The truth is the older generation were the first ones brainwashed into this modern thinking. And not to fault them completely because they were raised by former slaves. Gen x we are the first generation able to actually assess our state as a whole and decide how to move our race forward. Not to disagree with you, but the field of psychology has long recognized that ones perceived level of attractiveness to the opposite sex (in the case of heterosexuals) remains one of the strongest constituents of self esteem throughout the entirety of life. The day doesn't magically arrive after having blown out a certain number of candles, that this ceases to be a concern altogether. Other than with regard to clearly irresponsible acts, it's difficult to project onto someone what is "appropriate' for their age.
