This is Fabio & Grooverider on KISS100 FM, London. Recorded live on 5th January 1996.
Massive thanks to Deep Inside The Oldskool and Gary C for the tape rip and track list.
Listening to this mix in the car while it's raining late in the night makes it 100 times better
😊
Great to hear these guys in conversation at the height of the scene... who'd have thought those weekly shows would still be listened to 25 years later... the amount of quality material is staggering for the time frame
Seriously, i agree i am blown away
fabio, groove, photek and goldie laughing their asses off! what comradery, unmatchable, a true culture! Banging this one heavy
Listened live to this and many episode at 15 years old with everything to come - this music gave me faith in the future. I am very grateful to have been able to contribute to music in my own way thanks to inspiring radio like this.
And good god have you given back man! Thank you. My kids know your music well and I'm sure it will shape them as they grow into their own.
Ha, yeah same, same age as well mate.
I used to stay up late every Friday evening and tape these shows. It was amazing to hear the music and artists evolving creatively on a weekly basis. Such an explosion of talent and innovation during this era. KissFM used to be amazing back then. I think Hype, Jackfrost and Brian G were live on Wednesday evenings, and Giles Peterson and Patrick Forge were on Sunday evenings. I used to steal used cassettes from the music rooms at school so I had enough tape to record them all.
Andy C, Randall, Kenny Ken, LTJ Bukem, Frosty and Hype on rotation on Wednesdays. Was only thinking today how incredible it is that such a stellar lineup of DJs were featured on that Wednesday slot.
😱I dubbed this exact show from the radio back then on cassette with added hiss and distortion (kitchen foil and wires to boost FM aerial reception) as I lived outside London. Thanks for uploading. 🙇♂
Holy cow....this is vintage pirate UK jungle style....Can't beat the underground sounds with a hi-hat....or a couple of Toms!
Love this great tunes and funny banter! Still listening to tunes like this in 2022
The accent in London has changed ALOT since 96
That's not all that's changed.
Yes, I can do that but with lyrics.
So glad I found this, thanks
this show was so importasnt to me at the time. lovelyh to hear these archives 👍
Incredible, raw, soulful music. Interesting hearing them talk about 'leaving the kiddie sounding bass lines out'. I wonder if they would say that these days.
Rampage - The Monkees- it's a tune; a very bad one (and by "bad" I mean not good).
I think now is an even better time to be making music, seems that focus has come back to Jungle
THERE ARE NOT SUFICCIENT LIKES FOR THIS VIDEO - WE'RE TALKING HISTORY HERE

16:29 LOL
Why were some of them bad mouthing intelligent drum and bass?
Just the labelling of the different sub genres got a bit over the top at the time. The music split into various genres a few years earlier and it became too splintered.
The guys were just saying it’s all beats and leave it at that. Don’t forget Fab and Groove came from a house music background originally
10k views.... jeezuz man, the youngers today have no class.
How has Kiss become such a pile of turd now? It was at the cutting edge of Dance Music in the UK. It was fresh, raw & on point...
Money as usual 🤣😥
if we cant call this intelligent drum nd bass what is this?? 😂

"Intelligent" was a media-coined term, which only served to create a divide in the music. For most of us who value and treasure this music, there's no need for labels and sub-labels. It's all drum'n'bass... Carving it up led to separate sub-genres that ended up being played off against each other. Plus the term "intelligent" comes across as elitist and suggests that other styles of drum'n'bass are not intelligent. Listen to Fabio's recent podcast with London Something... He talks about it on there.
29:45 is that Groove rider ragging on AdamF for Circles or am I misunderstanding? Hearing them talk about Circles back when it was brandspanking new is something else though 🥲
