Why leave out the mcdonalds massacre? Or is a mass shooting not really newsworthy enough for you now? Back when it happened it wasn't common and it terrified people. I guess now it's just another of hundreds.
The Tylenol poisonings 🤷🏼♀️
Charles Ng and Leonard Lake
Uhh ohh
The 1982 Tylenol murders should have been mentioned.
As the Yorkshire Ripper, Peter Sutcliff, was caught in the 80's he definitely should be on the list.
He changed the lives of nearly all women in the 70's and 80's. Hell, I was a kid, but even as kids we knew things changed. We went out in at least two's, etc.
This list is ridiculously Americentric. Hungerford & Montreal should have been included as well.
I think this america great crime in 1980s
My mum said same thing. She’s from Wakefield and they used to ply that infamous ‘wear Side jack’ tape at the pub before closing time, so they could recognise his voice if he was street. Lol how wrong they all were
I was born in 1980. We used to watch the made for TV movie about the tragic kidnapping and murder of Adam Walsh. My parents would tell us over and over again about stranger danger and staying by them in public areas. Now as a parent, I can’t imagine what his parents went through…
Sadly society (over?)focus on stranger danger made people blindsided to danger posed by own family, friends and people regulary working with childern. Only in past decade did those abused in 80/90 and onward could actually tell about what they experienced.
Proof that the 80's or any decade in general was not as glamorous as pop culture depicted it, which is why I think it's bullshit when people tell me times are more violent today than they were decades ago.
Agree so hard
People have always been violent and evil.
The Bible said it best:
“We we’re by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.”
- Ephesians 2:3
@@chasehedges6775 THANK YOU people have ALWAYS been violent. Idk where the older generation gets this high horse they think they sit on.
@@Mrjonezzz 💯💯. I can only IMAGINE how bad it’s going to get from here on.
It’s usually said by people who didn’t live through the 80’s.
I have absolutely no sympathy for someone who gets killed while robbing someone !
Same here, totally agree with what he did.
There was a man who caught some sicko r***** his daughter. He beat him to death. The jury unanimously voted not guilty by reason of temporary insanity. I cheered when I watched a video about it!
😔
So their life has less value than the replaceable stuff they were trying to steal?
@@Flickawho That's is what they decided. The cost of crime. You don't value your life.
@@Flickawho if you rob people for a living your life has no value !
John Walsh started as just a normal American man living the dream until that day occurred and then became a guy who hunts for criminals. I also cannot believe it took so long to solve Adam’s case of who killed him. RIP Adam Walsh
The Adam Walsh case has always creeped me out. Not least of which because I was born at 3:02pm on July 27th 1981. He was literally being killed right as I was being born give or take a few minutes/an hour maybe. It's a total random coincidental thing but....I dunno...I just never think about my birthday without thinking of it even though I obviously wouldn't have known about it until years later. It affected my mom. Probably a lot of mothers. But my mom was just really disturbed by it. When I was little I always wondered why she would not let me out of her sight in stores and malls until I was probably in the double digits.
And that thumbnail of Richard Ramirez. Good lord...if demons are real that dude definitely had one in him..
The case has been solved? They actually found the killer of John Walsh's son? The same John Walsh who created America's Most Wanted?
@@talradlandheart6075 I get the impression that they aren't 100% sure...at least last time I read up on it, but they named Otis Toole as the muderer..
@@talradlandheart6075
You are correct on all three.
His book "tears of rage" legit made me cry.
I think Dahmer's crimes should have made it to the Top 5. Truly sickening.
Agreed.
The murder of junko Furuta stays with me to this day
Edit: are you serious? That’s considered one of the worst reported crimes by the true crime community
For real, it was just so messed up
Theu forgot to mention in the title "in the USA"
Oh that story is just a horror movie, I don’t even know what to say about such horrible crime.
@@slystone4892 No it isn't
@@paballomolata8844 Isn’t what?
One wicked crime committed in the 80s that I recall was the 1984 massacre in south San Diego involving a disgruntled postal worker. He opened fire at customers dining at a local McDonald’s before he himself was killed by police sniper rifle. Many of the victims were Hispanic or Latino.
That’s where the term “gone postal” originally came from.
EDIT: The perpetrator James Oliver Huberty once worked in postal service, yet the use of that term became more prominent in 1993.
Is that where the phrase "going postal" came from?
One of the worst things to happen in a McDonald's restaurant, apart from the food
Hello God say this is your new challenge. I have 75 suscribe. I need 5 more to complete 80. So you can do this. AMEN 🙏🏻🙏🏻💖💖
I heard of this one
There's a great documentary about that massacre. I think it's called 77 Minutes.
The Junko Furuta case should have been the top of this list. The way that this case is still talked about and the media coverage of the case even bigger than most US killers in the 80s.
Most of Dhamer's murders didn't happen until he was kicked out of his grandmother's house in 1990, until his arrest and conviction in 1992.
yeah, I was questioning his inclusion due to the era
May be simply not enough famous crime happen in 1980s
@@Devlin_Fung There were plenty lol the 80s was a serial killer decade like the 70s
@@ChrisCollins068 sorry i not come from us
He still murdered people in the 80s though his span of crimes was 1978-1991
Awesome list hope there are more of these 🙌 love a crime story
what about the 1984 McDonald's massacre in California
11:02 That's such a disrespectful question, to ask a man if it makes him feel better that other kids were saved because his died? insane
Right sorry someone took your kid and attempted to offer you his head for money
One honourable mention is the FBI Miami shootout in 1986.
I love your videos.
The worst crime of the 80’s was the garbage pail kids movie
Yes
And the worst crime of the 2010s was Nutcracker in 3D
@@chasehedges6775 na, that honour belongs exclusively to Kevin Smith’s dumpster fire, or as it’s titled, Tusk (2014), or as I title it, the worst movie ever made.
@@InsanityContainmentz There are so many bad movies man.
@@chasehedges6775 yeah, I’d argue the 2010’s while giving us masterpieces like anomalisa, prisoners, climax, the wolf of Wall Street and parasite, also gave us some of the worst movies ever made, like tusk, movie 43, Fred the movie, Megan is missing, escape from tomorrow, a cure for wellness, the drawn together movie, hate crime and sing.
Paul Castellano was murdered a few weeks before I was born. That's so trippy to me.
Interesting. They caught the Night Stalker exactly one week before I was born.
Make a top 10 best Mulder and Scully moments in the X Files.
The Murder of John Lennon was the most infamous murder because he just released his then-new album that’s why the murder was so sad.
What? I don’t think that’s why it was sad.
Idk I think it was just sad cause he was murdered
It's sad but he wasn't a nice man himself
lol man this is a stupid comment and it got 13 likes so far smh
Nah, assassination of Selena Quintanilla-Perez is most infamous
One of the most revolting aspects of Ramirez’s case was the women who swooned over him and wanted to marry him, giving credence to all the worst stereotypes associated with their gender.
Many serial killers attract female fans.
I have seen and studied many true crime cases over my many decades above the dirt but I have NEVER understood and NEVER will understand prison groupies especially the ones who marry these weirdos
I remember that I was like are they serious 😒🙄
What about Johnny Gosch? His case and the work his mother did because of it literally changed laws and I believe created other safety measures still used today for child abduction cases. I really think Johnny deserved to be on this list.
While Dahmer was active during the 80s, I'd swap his crimes out and put them in the 90s as that was when he was caught and the true nature of his crimes came to light. In it's place, I'd put the 1982 Tylenol murders.
Yeah, his spree began early 90s
Thank you! I thought I was the only one who knew Dahmer was caught in the early 90s
What Dahmer did was beyond humane!!
@@loveforeignaccents it was, but he was more "infamous" in the 90s.
I was 11 when the Tylenol murders happened. Freaked me out.
Pacific Southwest 1771- Disgruntled airport employee sneaks gun on a plane killing his boss, the pilots, a flight attendant and an off duty engineer before sending the plane into a nosedive killing the passengers.
I saw that in an episode of _Air Disasters._
@@Jeremiah_Rivers76
Me too
Because Dahmer wasn't caught until the 90s, and we didn't learn about his crimes until then, I personally consider them infamous crimes of the 1990s.
Just because he was caught in 91 and no one learned about his crimes until then does it mean he was a 90s murderer his span of crimes was from 78 through 91 he was a murderer through the 80s
@@kikidoyouloveme7646 Add an, "Ohhhh!" to the end of your run-on sentence and you sound like the dub of Speed Racer.
I think the Challenger explosion was a crime even though I don't think there were ever any charges brought.
It was a crime, they knew there was a problem...but launched anyone. I remember seeing that live on TV. At first there was smoke and then nothing. R.i.p. to the crew members.
Never thought of it as a crime until I read this 🤔a valid point
@PyroMantic no,just civil suits. I think at least a few people, should have been charged with manslaughter at least. Problem is proving intent. Stupidity, now that's no problem that's obvious.
I grew up watching John Walsh on AMW and to this day wish it was still on with him as host.
Ummm.... I learned something new. John Hinkley Jr. has a UA-cam channel. 😳😳
Disturbing that he’s out of prison and some non-violent offenders are in for longer than 40 years.
It's disturbing so many people ,think he was in prison. Nope,a cushy mental hospital, the best his daddy's money could buy.
What about the Atlanta Child Murders?
I still can’t believe that people believed Richard Ramirez was innocent and actually rooted for him
How sick can people be?
2 words that can explain.
Daddy issues
@@hungedteddy7971 that is a good factor
Ladies have a tendency to root for good looking men, even killers... just look at Ted Bundy.
@@loveforeignaccents I know, but I'd love to tell them this, "they can be handsome on the outside, but ugly on the inside"
He also had groupies how sick
BBC has so many very, very different meanings
Number one: jack the ripper murders (1888)

Oh that's why missing child protocol at Walmart is Code Adam!
I think the McDonalds shooting in San Diego should have been on here. When it happened in 1984, it was the deadliest shooting in American History.
I didn't know Death Wish was based on a true story. Charles Bronson used to be the man!!
Death wish came out like 10 years before this. the Goetz case was life imitating art
So far, we can judge the book by its covers. Period.

Really...?
And you win the award for dumbest comment of the year. Did you not watch the video? Dahmer looked like a regular guy and not one you'd think would do anything he did. Ted bundy didn't look like a killer either. I bet you think every priest is a good person because of how he looks right?
John Lennon, may he rest in peace.
R.i.p John!

Wife beater
The Edmond post office shooting was a mass shooting that occurred in Edmond, Oklahoma, on August 20, 1986. In less than fifteen minutes, 44 year-old postal worker Patrick Sherrill pursued and shot several coworkers, killing 14 and injuring another six, before committing suicide
This case is how the phrase "Going Postal" came about
I live and grew up about 10 minutes from Edmond. my classmates dad was killed in the post office shooting.
I miss all my fake memories about the 80's.
Same. I remembered when I wasn't there when John Lennon died

There's been a few. Which do you mean?
The song Teenage dirtbag is about the Acid King

Nice
Humans beings are odd, complicated creatures.
I don't feel bad for what happened to the ones who tried Bernard Goetz. They got the right wrong one that day.

Terrible? It was really gruesome. The cops found Adam Walshs son,but they only found his decapitated head.
